Matthew 22
Darby Bible
1And JesusG2424 answeringG611 spokeG3004 to them againG3825 in parablesG3850, sayingG3004, 2The kingdomG932 of the heavensG3772 has becomeG3666 like a kingG935 who madeG4160 a weddingG1062 feastG1062 for his sonG5207, 3and sentG649 his bondmen to callG2564 the persons invited to the weddingG1062 feastG1062, and they would not comeG2064. 4AgainG3825 he sentG649 otherG243 bondmen, sayingG3004, SayG3004 to the persons invited, BeholdG2400, I have preparedG2090 my dinnerG712; my oxenG5022 and my fatted beasts are killedG2380, and all thingsG3956 readyG2092; comeG1205 to the weddingG1062 feastG1062. 5But they made light of it, and wentG565, oneG3739 to his ownG2398 landG68, and another to his commerce. 6And the restG3062, laying holdG2902 of his bondmen, ill-treated and slew [them]. 7And [when] the kingG935 [heard of it he] was wroth, and having sentG3992 his forces, destroyedG622 those murderersG5406 and burned their cityG4172. 8ThenG5119 he saysG3004 to his bondmen, The weddingG1062 feastG1062 isG1510 readyG2092, but those invited wereG1510 not worthyG514; 9goG4198 thereforeG3767 into the thoroughfares of the highwaysG3598, and as manyG3745 as ye shall findG2147 invite to the weddingG1062 feastG1062. 10And those bondmen wentG1831 out into the highwaysG3598, and brought togetherG4863 all as manyG3745 as they foundG2147, both evilG4190 and goodG18; and the weddingG1062 feastG1062 was furnished with guests. 11And the kingG935, having goneG1525 in to seeG3708 the guests, beheld there a manG444 not clothed with a weddingG1062 garmentG1742. 12And he saysG3004 to him, [My] friendG2083, howG4459 camest thou in hereG5602 not having on a weddingG1062 garmentG1742? But he was speechless. 13Then saidG3004 the kingG935 to the servantsG1249, BindG1210 him feetG4228 and handsG5495, and take him away, and castG1544 him out into the outerG1857 darknessG4655: there shall beG1510 the weepingG2805 and the gnashingG1030 of teethG3599. 14For manyG4183 areG1510 calledG2822 ones, but fewG3641 chosen ones. 15ThenG5119 wentG4198 the PhariseesG5330 and held a council howG3704 they might ensnare him in speaking. 16And they sendG649 out to him their disciplesG3101 with the HerodiansG2265, sayingG3004, TeacherG1320, we know that thou art trueG227 and teachest the wayG3598 of 1GodG2316 in truthG225, and carest not for any oneG3762, for thou regardest not men's person; 17tellG3004 us thereforeG3767 what thou thinkest: Is it lawfulG1832 to giveG1325 tribute to CaesarG2541, or not? 18But JesusG2424, knowingG1097 their wickednessG4189, saidG3004, WhyG5101 temptG3985 ye me, hypocritesG5273? 19Shew me the money of the tribute. And they presented to him a denariusG1220. 20And he saysG3004 to them, Whose [is] this imageG1504 and superscription? 21They sayG3004 to him, Caesar's. Then he saysG3004 to them, PayG591 then what is Caesar's to CaesarG2541, and what is 2God's to 3GodG2316. 22And when they heardG191 [him], they wonderedG2296, and leftG863 him, and wentG565 awayG565. 23On that dayG2250 cameG4334 to him SadduceesG4523, who sayG3004 there isG1510 no resurrectionG386; and they demanded of him, 24sayingG3004, TeacherG1320, MosesG3475 saidG3004, If any oneG5100 dieG599, not having childrenG5043, his brotherG80 shall marry his wifeG1135 and shall raiseG450 up seedG4690 to his brotherG80. 25NowG1161 there wereG1510 with us sevenG2033 brethren; and the firstG4413 having marriedG1060 died, and not having seedG4690, leftG863 his wifeG1135 to his brotherG80. 26In like manner alsoG2532 the secondG1208 and the thirdG5154, unto the sevenG2033. 27And last of all the womanG1135 alsoG1161 diedG599. 28In the resurrectionG386 thereforeG3767 of which of the sevenG2033 shall she beG1510 wifeG1135, for all had her? 29And JesusG2424 answeringG611 saidG3004 to them, Ye err, not knowing the scripturesG1124 nor the powerG1411 of 4GodG2316. 30For in the resurrectionG386 they neither marryG1060 nor areG1510 given in marriage, but areG1510 as angelsG32 of 5GodG2316 in heavenG3772. 31But concerningG4012 the resurrectionG386 of the deadG3498, have ye not readG314 what was spoken to you by 6GodG2316, sayingG3004, 32I amG1510 the 7GodG2316 of AbrahamG11, and the 8GodG2316 of IsaacG2464, and the 9GodG2316 of JacobG2384? 10GodG2316 isG1510 not 11GodG2316 of [the] deadG3498, but of [the] livingG2198. 33And when the crowdsG3793 heardG191 [it] they were astonishedG1605 at his doctrine. 34But the PhariseesG5330, having heardG191 that he had put the SadduceesG4523 to silence, were gatheredG4863 togetherG4863. 35And oneG1520 of them, a lawyerG3544, demanded, tempting him, and saying, 36TeacherG1320, which is the greatG3173 commandmentG1785 in the lawG3551? 37And he saidG5346 to him, Thou shalt loveG25 [the] LordG2962 thy 12GodG2316 with all thy heartG2588, and with all thy soulG5590, and with all thy understandingG1271. 38This isG1510 [the] greatG3173 and firstG4413 commandmentG1785. 39And [the] secondG1208 is like it, Thou shalt loveG25 thy neighbour as thyself. 40On these twoG1417 commandmentsG1785 the wholeG3650 lawG3551 and the prophetsG4396 hang. 41And the PhariseesG5330 being gatheredG4863 togetherG4863, JesusG2424 demanded of them, 42sayingG3004, What thinkG1380 ye concerningG4012 the ChristG5547? whose sonG5207 isG1510 he? They sayG3004 to him, David's. 43He saysG3004 to them, HowG4459 thenG3767 does DavidG1138 in SpiritG4151 callG2564 him LordG2962, sayingG3004, 44The LordG2962 saidG3004 to my LordG2962, SitG2521 on my rightG1188 handG1188 until I putG5087 thine enemiesG2190 under thy feetG4228? 45If thereforeG3767 DavidG1138 callG2564 him LordG2962, howG4459 isG1510 he his sonG5207? 46And no oneG3762 was ableG1410 to answerG611 him a wordG3056, nor did any oneG3762 dareG5111 from that dayG2250 to questionG1905 him any more.
