Acts 2
1And when the dayG2250 of PentecostG4005 wasG1510 now come, they wereG1510 all togetherG3674 in oneG3588 place. 2And suddenlyG869 there cameG1096 from heavenG3772 a sound as of the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filledG4137 all the houseG3624 whereG3757 they wereG1510 sittingG2521. 3And there appeared unto them tonguesG1100 parting asunder, like as of fireG4442; and it satG2523 upon each oneG1520 of them. 4And they were all filledG4130 with the HolyG40 SpiritG4151, and beganG757 to speakG2980 with otherG2087 tonguesG1100, as the SpiritG4151 gaveG1325 them utterance.
5NowG1161 there wereG1510 dwellingG2730 at JerusalemG2419 JewsG2453, devoutG2126 menG435, from every nationG1484 under heavenG3772. 6And when this soundG5456 was heardG191, the multitudeG4128 cameG1096 togetherG4905, and were confounded, because that every manG3778 heardG191 them speakingG2980 in his ownG2398 languageG1258. 7And they wereG1510 all amazedG2296 and marvelled, sayingG3004, BeholdG2400, areG1510 not all these that speakG2980 Galilæans? 8And howG4459 hearG191 we, every manG1538 in our ownG2398 languageG1258 wherein we were bornG1080? 9Parthians and Medes and Elamites, and the dwellers in MesopotamiaG3318, in Judæa and CappadociaG2587, in PontusG4195 and AsiaG773, 10in PhrygiaG5435 and PamphyliaG3828, in EgyptG125 and the partsG3313 of Libya about Cyrene, and sojourners from Rome, both JewsG2453 and proselytes, 11CretansG2912 and Arabians, we hearG191 them speakingG2980 in our tonguesG1100 the mighty works of GodG2316. 12And they wereG1510 all amazed, and wereG1510 perplexedG1280, sayingG3004 oneG3778 to another, What meaneth this? 13But othersG2087 mocking saidG3004, They areG1510 filled with new wine.
14But PeterG4074, standingG2476 up with the elevenG1733, liftedG1869 up his voiceG5456, and spake forth unto them, saying, Ye menG435 of Judæa, and all ye that dwellG2730 at JerusalemG2419, beG1510 this known unto you, and give ear unto my words. 15For these areG1510 not drunken, as ye suppose; seeing it isG1510 but the thirdG5154 hourG5610 of the dayG2250; 16but this isG1510 that which hath beenG1510 spoken through the prophetG4396 Joel:
22Ye menG435 of Israel, hearG191 these wordsG3056: JesusG2424 of NazarethG3480, a manG435 approved of GodG2316 unto you by mightyG1411 works and wondersG5059 and signsG4592 which GodG2316 did by him in the midstG3319 of you, evenG2532 as ye yourselves know; 23him, being delivered up by the determinate counselG1012 and foreknowledgeG4268 of GodG2316, ye by the handG5495 of lawlessG459 menG3778 did crucify and slay: 24whom GodG2316 raisedG450 up, having loosedG3089 the pangs of deathG2288: because it wasG1510 not possibleG1415 that he should beG1510 holden of it. 25For DavidG1138 saith concerning him,
29Brethren, I may sayG3004 unto you freely of the patriarchG3966 DavidG1138, that he both died and wasG1510 buriedG2290, and his tombG3418 isG1510 with us unto this dayG2250. 30Being thereforeG3767 a prophetG4396, and knowing that GodG2316 had swornG3660 with an oathG3727 to him, that of the fruitG2590 of his loinsG3751 he would set oneG3588 upon his throneG2362; 31he foreseeing this spake of the resurrectionG386 of the ChristG5547, that neither was he left unto HadesG86, nor did his fleshG4561 seeG3708 corruption. 32This JesusG2424 did GodG2316 raiseG450 up, whereof we all areG1510 witnessesG3144. 33Being thereforeG3767 by the rightG1188 handG1188 of GodG2316 exaltedG5312, and having receivedG2983 of the FatherG3962 the promiseG1860 of the HolyG40 SpiritG4151, he hath poured forth this, which ye seeG991 and hearG191. 34For DavidG1138 ascendedG305 not into the heavensG3772: but he saith himself,
36Let all the houseG3624 of IsraelG2474 thereforeG3767 knowG1097 assuredly, that GodG2316 hath madeG4160 him both LordG2962 and ChristG5547, this JesusG2424 whom ye crucifiedG4717.
37NowG1161 when they heardG191this, they were pricked in their heartG2588, and saidG3004 unto PeterG4074 and the restG3062 of the apostlesG652, Brethren, what shall we do? 38And PeterG4074 saidG5346 unto them, RepentG3340 ye, and be baptizedG907 every oneG1538 of you in the nameG3686 of JesusG2424 ChristG5547 unto the remission of your sinsG266; and ye shall receiveG2983 the giftG1431 of the HolyG40 SpiritG4151. 39For to you isG1510 the promiseG1860, and to your childrenG5043, and to all that areG1510 afar off, evenG2532 as manyG3745 as the LordG2962 our GodG2316 shall callG4341 unto him. 40And with manyG4183 otherG2087 wordsG3056 he testifiedG1263, and exhortedG3870 them, sayingG3004, SaveG4982 yourselves from this crookedG4646 generationG1074. 41They then that received his wordG3056 were baptizedG907: and there were addedG4369 unto them in that dayG2250 about three thousand soulsG5590. 42And they continuedG4342 stedfastly in the apostles’G652 teachingG1322 and fellowshipG2842, in the breakingG2800 of breadG740 and the prayersG4335.
43And fearG5401 cameG1096 upon every soulG5590: and manyG4183 wondersG5059 and signsG4592 wereG1510 done through the apostlesG652. 44And all that believedG4100 wereG1510 together, and had all thingsG3956 commonG2839; 45and they sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all, according as any man had needG5532. 46And dayG2250 by dayG2250, continuingG4342 stedfastly with oneG3661 accordG3661 in the temple, and breakingG2806 breadG740 at homeG3624, they took their foodG5160 with gladnessG20 and singleness of heartG2588, 47praisingG134 GodG2316, and having favorG5485 with all the peopleG2992. And the LordG2962 addedG4369 to them dayG2250 by dayG2250 those that were savedG4982.
