1 Then the scribes G1122 and Pharisees Φαρισαῖοι Pharisaioi G5330 from Jerusalem Ἱεροσολύμων Hi'erosolumōn G2414 come προσέρχονται proserchontai G4334 up to Jesus Ἰησοῦ Iēsou G2424 , saying λέγοντες· legontes G3004 , 2 Why τί ti G5101 do thy disciples G3101 transgress what has been delivered by the ancients? for they do not wash νίπτονται niptontai G3538 their hands χεῖρας cheiras G5495 when ὅταν hotan G3752 they eat ἐσθίωσιν.¶ esthiōsin G2068 bread ἄρτον arton G740 . 3 But he answering ἀποκριθεὶς apokritheis G611 said G3004 to them , Why τί ti G5101 do ye also καὶ kai G2532 transgress the commandment ἐντολὴν entolēn G1785 of God θεοῦ theou G2316 on account G1223 of your traditional teaching? 5 But ye say λέγετε· legete G3004 , Whosoever shall say G3004 to his father πατρὶ patri G3962 or mother μητρί· mētri G3384 , It is a gift δῶρον dōron G1435 , whatsoever [ it be ] by which [received] from me thou wouldest be profited ὠφεληθῇς, ōphelēthēas G5623 : 6 and he shall in no wise honour his father G3962 or his mother; and ye have made void the commandment of God θεοῦ theou G2316 on account G3056 of your traditional teaching . 8 This people λαὸς laos G2992 honour me with the lips χείλεσίν cheilesin G5491 , but their heart καρδία kardia G2588 is far πόρρω porrō G4206 away G575 from me ; 9 but in vain μάτην matēn G3155 do they worship σέβονταί sebontai G4576 me , teaching διδάσκοντες didaskontes G1321 [ as ] teachings G1319 commandments of men G444 . 10 And having called to [ him ] the crowd ὄχλον ochlon G3793 , he said G3004 to them , Hear ἀκούετε akouete G191 and understand συνίετε· suniete G4920 : 11 Not what enters εἰσερχόμενον eiserchomenon G1525 into the mouth στόμα stoma G4750 defiles G2840 the man ἄνθρωπον, anthrōpon G444 ; but what goes forth ἐκπορευόμενον ekporeuomenon G1607 out of the mouth στόματος, stomatos G4750 , this defiles G2840 the man ἄνθρωπον.¶ anthrōpon G444 . 12 Then Τότε Tote G5119 his disciples G3101 , coming προσελθόντες proselthontes G4334 up , said G3004 to him , Dost thou know that the Pharisees Φαρισαῖοι Pharisaioi G5330 , having heard G191 this word G3056 , have been offended ἐσκανδαλίσθησαν;¶ eskandalisthēsan G4624 ? 13 But he answering ἀποκριθεὶς apokritheis G611 said G3004 , Every plant which my heavenly οὐράνιος ouranios G3770 Father πατήρ patēr G3962 has not planted ἐφύτευσεν ephuteusen G5452 shall be rooted up. 14 Leave ἄφετε aphete G863 them alone G863 ; they are G1510 blind τυφλοί tuphloi G5185 leaders of blind τυφλῶν. tuphlōn G5185 : but if blind τυφλὸς tuphlos G5185 lead ὁδηγῇ, hodēgēa G3594 blind τυφλὸν tuphlon G5185 , both will fall πεσοῦνται. pesountai G4098 into a ditch. 15 And Peter Πέτρος Petros G4074 answering ἀποκριθεὶς apokritheis G611 said G3004 to him , Expound to us this parable παραβολὴν parabolēn G3850 . 17 Do ye not yet apprehend, that everything πᾶν pan G3956 that enters εἰσπορευόμενον eisporeuomenon G1531 into the mouth στόμα stoma G4750 finds its way into the belly G2836 , and is cast ἐκβάλλεται; ekballetai G1544 forth into the draught? 18 but the things which go G1831 forth ἐξέρχεται, exerchetai G1831 out of the mouth στόματος stomatos G4750 come G1831 out of the heart καρδίας kardias G2588 , and those defile κοινοῖ koinoi G2840 man ἄνθρωπον. anthrōpon G444 . 19 For out of the heart καρδίας kardias G2588 come ἐξέρχονται exerchontai G1831 forth G1831 evil πονηροί, ponēroi G4190 thoughts διαλογισμοὶ dialogismoi G1261 , murders φόνοι, phonoi G5408 , adulteries μοιχεῖαι, moicheiai G3430 , fornications , thefts κλοπαί, klopai G2829 , false witnessings, blasphemies G988 ; 22 and lo , a Canaanitish woman γυνὴ gunē G1135 , coming G1831 out from those borders, cried ἔκραζεν ekrazen G2896 [ to him ] saying λέγουσα· legousa G3004 , Have pity on me , Lord κύριε kurie G2962 , Son υἱὸς huios G5207 of David Δαυίδ. Dauid G1138 ; my daughter θυγάτηρ thugatēr G2364 is miserably possessed by a demon. 23 But he did not answer ἀπεκρίθη apekrithē G611 her a word λόγον. logon G3056 . And his disciples G3101 came προσελθόντες proselthontes G4334 to [ him ] and asked G2065 him , saying λέγοντες· legontes G3004 , Dismiss her , for she cries G2896 after us . 25 But she came ἐλθοῦσα elthousa G2064 and did him homage, saying λέγουσα· legousa G3004 , Lord κύριε, kurie G2962 , help βοήθει boēthei G997 me . 27 But she said G3004 , Yea, Lord κύριε· kurie G2962 ; for even καὶ kai G2532 the dogs κυνάρια kunaria G2952 eat ἐσθίει esthiei G2068 of the crumbs ψιχίων psichiōn G5589 which fall πιπτόντων piptontōn G4098 from the table τραπέζης trapezēs G5132 of their masters κυρίων kuriōn G2962 . 28 Then Jesus Ἰησοῦς Iēsous G2424 answering ἀποκριθεὶς apokritheis G611 said G3004 to her , O woman γύναι, gunai G1135 , thy faith πίστις· pistis G4102 [ is ] great μεγάλη megalē G3173 . Be it to thee as thou desirest.
