Luke 11:1-33
1It happenedG1096 that whileG1722 1Jesus was prayingG4336 in a certainG5100 placeG5117, afterG5613 He had finishedG3973, oneG5100 of His disciplesG3101 saidG3004 to Him, “LordG2962, teachG1321 us to prayG4336 justG2531 as JohnG2491 alsoG2532 taughtG1321 his disciplesG3101.” 2And He saidG3004 to them, “2WhenG3752 you prayG4336, sayG3004: ‘3FatherG3962, hallowedG37 be Your nameG3686. Your kingdomG932 comeG2064.3GiveG1325 us 4eachG2596 dayG2250 our 5dailyG1967 breadG740.4And forgiveG863 us our sinsG266, For we ourselvesG846 alsoG2532 forgiveG863 everyoneG3956 who 6is indebtedG3784 to us. And leadG1533 us not into temptationG3986.’”
5ThenG2532 He saidG3004 to them, “7SupposeG5101 oneG5101 of you hasG2192 a friendG5384, and goesG4198 to him at midnightG3317 and saysG3004 to him, ‘FriendG5384, lendG5531 me threeG5140 loavesG740; 6for a friendG5384 of mineG1473 has comeG3854 to me from a journeyG3598, and I haveG2192 nothingG3756 to setG3908 beforeG3908 him’; 7and from insideG2081 he answersG611 and saysG3004, ‘Do not botherG2873G3930 me; the doorG2374 has alreadyG2235 been shutG2808 and my childrenG3813 8and I are in bedG2845; I cannotG1410G3756 getG450 up and giveG1325 you anything.’ 8I tellG3004 you, evenG2532 thoughG1487 he will not getG450 up and giveG1325 him anything becauseG1223 he is his friendG5384, yetG1065 9becauseG1223 of his 10persistenceG335 he will getG1453 up and giveG1325 him as muchG3745 as he needsG5535.
9“SoG2532 I sayG3004 to you, 1112askG154, and it will be givenG1325 to you; 13seekG2212, and you will findG2147; 14knockG2925, and it will be openedG455 to you. 10For everyoneG3956 who asksG154, receivesG2983; and he who seeksG2212, findsG2147; and to him who knocksG2925, it will be openedG455. 11NowG1161 15supposeG5101 oneG5101 of you fathersG3962 is askedG154 by his sonG5207 for a 16fishG2486; he will not giveG1929 him a snakeG3789 insteadG473 of a fishG2486, will he? 12OrG2228 if he is askedG154 for an eggG5609, he will not giveG1929 him a scorpionG4651, will he? 1317IfG1487 you thenG3767, beingG5225 evilG4190, knowG3609 howG3609 to giveG1325 goodG18 giftsG1390 to your childrenG5043, howG4214 muchG4214 moreG3123 will your 18heavenlyG1537G3772 FatherG3962 giveG1325 the HolyG40 SpiritG4151 to thoseG3588 who askG154 Him?”
1419And He was castingG1544 out a demonG1140, and it was muteG2974; when the demonG1140 had goneG1831 out, the muteG2974 manG2974 spokeG2980; and the crowdsG3793 were amazedG2296. 15But someG5100 of them saidG3004, “He castsG1544 out demonsG1140 20by 21BeelzebulG954, the rulerG758 of the demonsG1140.” 16OthersG2087, 22to testG3985 Him, 23were demandingG2212 of Him a 24signG4592 from heavenG3772. 1725But He knewG3609 their thoughtsG1270 and saidG3004 to them, “26AnyG3956 kingdomG932 dividedG1266 againstG1909 itselfG1438 is laidG2049 wasteG2049; and a houseG3624 divided againstG1909 27itselfG3624 fallsG4098. 18IfG1487 28SatanG4567 alsoG2532 is dividedG1266 againstG1909 himselfG1438, howG4459 will his kingdomG932 standG2476? For you sayG3004 that I castG1544 out demonsG1140 by 29BeelzebulG954. 19And ifG1487 I by 30BeelzebulG954 castG1544 out demonsG1140, by whomG5101 do your sonsG5207 castG1544 them out? SoG1223G3778 they will be your judgesG2923. 20But ifG1487 I castG1544 out demonsG1140 by the 31fingerG1147 of GodG2316, thenG686 32the kingdomG932 of GodG2316 has comeG5348 upon you. 21WhenG3752 33a strongG2478 man, fullyG2528 armedG2528, guardsG5442 his ownG1438 houseG833, his possessionsG5225 are 34undisturbedG1722G1515. 22But whenG1875 someone strongerG2478 than he attacksG1904 him and overpowersG3528 him, he takesG142 awayG142 from him allG3833 his armorG3833 on whichG3739 he had reliedG3982 and distributesG1239 his plunderG4661. 2335He who is not with Me is againstG2596 Me; and he who does not gatherG4863 with Me, scattersG4650.
24“36WhenG3752 the uncleanG169 spiritG4151 goesG1831 out of 37a manG444, it passesG1330 throughG1223 waterlessG504 placesG5117 seekingG2212 restG372, and not findingG2147 any, it saysG3004, ‘I will returnG5290 to my houseG3624 from whichG3606 I cameG1831.’ 25And when it comesG2064, it findsG2147 it sweptG4563 and putG2885 in orderG2885. 26ThenG5119 it goesG4198 and takesG3880 along sevenG2033 otherG2087 spiritsG4151 moreG4190 evilG4190 than itselfG1438, and they goG1525 in and liveG2730 thereG1563; and the lastG2078 state of that manG444 becomesG1096 worseG5501 than the firstG4413.”
27WhileG1722 38Jesus was sayingG3004 theseG3778 thingsG3778, oneG5100 of the womenG1135 in the crowdG3793 raisedG1869 her voiceG5456 and saidG3004 to Him, “39BlessedG3107 is the wombG2836 that boreG941 You and the breastsG3149 at whichG3739 You nursedG2337.” 28But He saidG3004, “On the contraryG3303G3767, blessedG3107 are 40thoseG3588 who hearG191 the wordG3056 of GodG2316 and observeG5442 it.”
29As the crowdsG3793 were increasingG1865, He beganG757 to sayG3004, “41ThisG3778 generationG1074 is a wickedG4190 generationG1074; it 42seeksG2212 for a 43signG4592, and yet noG3756 44signG4592 will be givenG1325 to it but the 45signG4592 of JonahG2495. 30For justG2531 as 46JonahG2495 becameG1096 a 47signG4592 to the NinevitesG3536, soG3779 will the SonG5207 of ManG444 be to thisG3778 generationG1074. 31The 48QueenG938 of the SouthG3558 will riseG1453 up with the menG435 of thisG3778 generationG1074 at the judgmentG2920 and condemnG2632 them, becauseG3754 she cameG2064 from the endsG4009 of the earthG1093 to hearG191 the wisdomG4678 of SolomonG4672; and beholdG2400, somethingG4183 greaterG4183 than SolomonG4672 is hereG5602. 32The menG435 of NinevehG3536 will standG450 up with thisG3778 generationG1074 at the judgmentG2920 and condemnG2632 it, becauseG3754 49they repentedG3340 at the preachingG2782 of JonahG2495; and beholdG2400, somethingG4183 greaterG4183 than JonahG2495 is hereG5602.
33“50NoG3762 oneG3762, after lightingG681 a lampG3088, putsG5087 it awayG5087 in a cellarG2926 norG3761 underG5259 a basketG3426, but on the lampstandG3087, soG2443 that thoseG3588 who enterG1531 may seeG991 the lightG5338.
