Matthew 13:1-52 2 And great πολλοὶ polloi G4183 crowds ὄχλοι ochloi G3793 were gathered G4863 together συνήχθησαν sunēchthēsan G4863 to him , so that going on board ship G4143 himself he sat καθῆσθαι, kathēsthai G2521 down G2521 , and the whole crowd ὄχλος ochlos G3793 stood G2476 on the shore. 4 and as he sowed σπείρειν speirein G4687 , some [grains] fell G4098 along the way G3598 , and the birds πετεινὰ peteina G4071 came ἐλθόντα elthonta G2064 and devoured κατέφαγεν katephagen G2719 them ; 5 and others ἄλλα alla G243 fell G4098 upon the rocky πετρώδη petrōdē G4075 places where ὅπου hopou G3699 they had not much πολλήν, pollēn G4183 earth G1093 , and immediately εὐθέως eutheōs G2112 they sprang up out of [ the ground G1093 ] because of not having [ any ] depth βάθος bathos G899 of earth G1093 , 6 but when the sun ἡλίου hēliou G2246 rose they were burned up, and because of not having [ any ] root ῥίζαν rhizan G4491 were dried up; 7 and others ἄλλα alla G243 fell G4098 upon the thorns ἀκάνθας, akanthas G173 , and the thorns ἄκανθαι akanthai G173 grew up and choked them ; 9 He that has ears ὦτα ōta G3775 , let him hear ἀκουέτω.¶ akouetō G191 . 11 And he answering ἀποκριθεὶς apokritheis G611 said G3004 to them , Because to you it is given G1325 to know γνῶναι gnōnai G1097 the mysteries μυστήρια mustēria G3466 of the kingdom βασιλείας basileias G932 of the heavens οὐρανῶν, ouranōn G3772 , but to them it is not given G1325 ; 12 for whoever has , to him shall be given G1325 , and he shall be caused to be in abundance G4052 ; but he who has not , even G2532 what he has shall be taken G142 away ἀρθήσεται arthēsetai G142 from him . 13 For this cause I speak λαλῶ lalō G2980 to them in parables G3850 , because seeing βλέποντες blepontes G991 they do not see βλέπουσιν blepousin G991 , and hearing ἀκούοντες akouontes G191 they do not hear ἀκούουσιν akouousin G191 nor understand συνίουσιν. suniousin G4920 ; 14 and in them is filled up the prophecy προφητεία prophēteia G4394 of Esaias, which says λέγουσα· legousa G3004 , Hearing G191 ye shall hear ἀκούσετε akousete G191 and shall not understand συνῆτε, sunēte G4920 , and beholding ye shall behold and not see G3708 ; 15 for the heart καρδία kardia G2588 of this people λαοῦ laou G2992 has grown fat, and they have heard G191 heavily with their ears ὠσὶν ōsin G3775 , and they have closed their eyes ὀφθαλμοὺς ophthalmous G3788 as asleep, lest they should see G3708 with the eyes ὀφθαλμοῖς ophthalmois G3788 , and hear G191 with the ears ὠσὶν ōsin G3775 , and understand συνῶσιν sunōsin G4920 with the heart καρδίᾳ kardia G2588 , and should be converted, and I should heal ἰάσομαι iasomai G2390 them . 16 But blessed are your eyes ὀφθαλμοὶ ophthalmoi G3788 because they see βλέπουσιν blepousin G991 , and your ears ὦτα ōta G3775 because they hear ἀκούουσιν.¶ akouousin G191 ; 18 Ye, therefore οὖν oun G3767 , hear ἀκούσατε akousate G191 the parable παραβολὴν parabolēn G3850 of the sower . 22 And he that is G1510 sown σπαρείς, spareis G4687 among the thorns ἀκάνθας akanthas G173 — this is G1510 he who hears ἀκούων, akouōn G191 the word λόγον logon G3056 , and the anxious care of this life, and the deceit ἀπάτη apatē G539 of riches πλούτου ploutou G4149 choke συμπνίγει sumpnigei G4846 the word λόγον, logon G3056 , and he becomes G1096 unfruitful ἄκαρπος akarpos G175 . 24 Another parable παραβολὴν parabolēn G3850 set G3908 he before them , saying λέγων· legōn G3004 , The kingdom βασιλεία basileia G932 of the heavens οὐρανῶν ouranōn G3772 has become ὡμοιώθη hōmoiōthē G3666 like a man ἀνθρώπῳ anthrōpō G444 sowing G4687 good καλὸν kalon G2570 seed σπέρμα sperma G4690 in his field ἀγρῷ agrō G68 ; 27 And the bondmen of the householder came προσελθόντες proselthontes G4334 up and said G3004 to him , Sir κύριε, kurie G2962 , hast thou not sown G4687 good καλὸν kalon G2570 seed σπέρμα sperma G4690 in thy field ἀγρῷ; agrō G68 ? whence then οὖν oun G3767 has it darnel? 28 And he said λέγουσιν legousin G3004 to them , A man ἄνθρωπος anthrōpos G444 [ that is ] an enemy ἐχθρὸς echthros G2190 has done this . And the bondmen said G3004 to him , Wilt thou then οὖν oun G3767 that we should go G565 and gather συλλέξωμεν sullexōmen G4816 it [up]? 29 But he said φησιν· phēsin G5346 , No ; lest [ in ] gathering G4816 the darnel ye should root up the wheat σῖτον. siton G4621 with it . 30 Suffer both to grow together συναγάγετε sunagagete G4863 unto the harvest θερισμοῦ· therismou G2326 , and in time καιρῷ kairō G2540 of the harvest θερισμοῦ therismou G2326 I will say G3004 to the harvestmen, Gather G4863 first πρῶτον prōton G4413 the darnel, and bind δήσατε dēsate G1210 it into bundles to burn κατακαῦσαι katakausai G2618 it ; but the wheat σῖτον siton G4621 bring together G4863 into my granary. 31 Another parable παραβολὴν parabolēn G3850 set G3908 he before them , saying λέγων· legōn G3004 , The kingdom βασιλεία basileia G932 of the heavens οὐρανῶν ouranōn G3772 is G1510 like a grain κόκκῳ kokkō G2848 of mustard σινάπεως, sinapeōs G4615 [ seed ] which a man ἄνθρωπος anthrōpos G444 took G2983 and sowed ἔσπειρεν espeiren G4687 in his field ἀγρῷ agrō G68 ; 35 so ὅπως hopōs G3704 that that should be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet προφήτου prophētou G4396 , saying λέγοντος· legontos G3004 , I will open ἀνοίξω anoixō G455 my mouth στόμα stoma G4750 in parables G3850 ; I will utter things hidden G2928 from [ the ] world's foundation καταβολῆς katabolēs G2602 . 36 Then , having dismissed the crowds ὄχλους ochlous G3793 , he went into the house οἰκίαν oikian G3614 ; and his disciples G3101 came G2064 to him , saying λέγοντες· legontes G3004 , Expound to us the parable παραβολὴν parabolēn G3850 of the darnel of the field ἀγροῦ.¶ agrou G68 . 39 and the enemy ἐχθρὸς echthros G2190 who has sowed G4687 it is G1510 the devil διάβολος· diabolos G1228 ; and the harvest θερισμὸς therismos G2326 is G1510 [ the ] completion of [ the ] age αἰῶνός aiōnos G165 , and the harvestmen are G1510 angels ἄγγελοί angeloi G32 . 41 The Son υἱὸς huios G5207 of man ἀνθρώπου anthrōpou G444 shall send ἀποστελεῖ apostelei G649 his angels ἀγγέλους angelous G32 , and they shall gather συλλέξουσιν sullexousin G4816 out of his kingdom βασιλείας basileias G932 all offences, and those that practise lawlessness ἀνομίαν anomian G458 ; 42 and they shall cast βαλοῦσιν balousin G906 them into the furnace κάμινον kaminon G2575 of fire πυρός· puros G4442 ; there shall be ἔσται estai G1510 the weeping κλαυθμὸς klauthmos G2805 and the gnashing βρυγμὸς brugmos G1030 of teeth ὀδόντων. odontōn G3599 . 43 Then τότε tote G5119 the righteous δίκαιοι dikaioi G1342 shall shine forth as the sun ἥλιος hēlios G2246 in the kingdom βασιλείᾳ basileia G932 of their Father πατρὸς patros G3962 . He that has ears ὦτα ōta G3775 , let him hear ἀκουέτω.¶ akouetō G191 . 46 and having found G2147 one ἕνα hena G1520 pearl μαργαρίτην, margaritēn G3135 of great value , he went G565 and sold all whatever he had and bought G59 it . 47 Again Πάλιν Palin G3825 , the kingdom βασιλεία basileia G932 of the heavens οὐρανῶν ouranōn G3772 is G1510 like a seine which has been G1510 cast βληθείσῃ blētheisē G906 into the sea θάλασσαν thalassan G2281 , and which has gathered G4863 together συναγαγούσῃ, sunagagousē G4863 of every kind , 48 which , when ὅτε hote G3753 it has been filled ἐπληρώθη eplērōthē G4137 , having drawn up on the shore and sat G2523 down καθίσαντες kathisantes G2523 , they gathered G4816 the good καλὰ kala G2570 into vessels and cast ἔβαλον. ebalon G906 the worthless out . 49 Thus οὕτως houtōs G3779 shall it be ἔσται estai G1510 in the completion of the age αἰῶνος· aiōnos G165 : the angels ἄγγελοι angeloi G32 shall go ἐξελεύσονται exeleusontai G1831 forth G1831 and sever the wicked G4190 from the midst μέσου mesou G3319 of the just G1342 , 50 and shall cast βαλοῦσιν balousin G906 them into the furnace κάμινον kaminon G2575 of fire πυρός· puros G4442 ; there shall be ἔσται estai G1510 the weeping κλαυθμὸς klauthmos G2805 and the gnashing βρυγμὸς brugmos G1030 of teeth ὀδόντων. odontōn G3599 . 51 Jesus says λέγουσιν legousin G3004 to them , Have ye understood συνήκατε sunēkate G4920 all these things ταῦτα tauta G3778 ? They say G3004 to him , Yea, [Lord]. 52 And he said G3004 to them , For this reason every scribe γραμματεὺς grammateus G1122 discipled to the kingdom βασιλείᾳ basileia G932 of the heavens οὐρανῶν ouranōn G3772 is G1510 like a man ἀνθρώπῳ anthrōpō G444 [ that is G1510 ] a householder who brings out of his treasure θησαυροῦ thēsaurou G2344 things G3778 new καινὰ kaina G2537 and old παλαιά.¶ palaia G3820 .
