Luke 4:16-44
16And He cameG2064 to 1NazarethG3478, whereG3757 He had beenG1510 broughtG5142 up; and as was His customG1486, 2He enteredG1525 the synagogueG4864 on the SabbathG4521, and 3stoodG450 up to readG314. 17And the 4bookG975 of the prophetG4396 IsaiahG2268 was handedG1929 to Him. And He openedG455 the 5bookG975 and foundG2147 the placeG5117 whereG3757 it was writtenG1125,18“6The SpiritG4151 of the LordG2962 is upon Me, BecauseG3739G1752 He anointedG5548 Me to preachG2097 the gospelG2097 to the poorG4434. He has sentG649 Me to proclaimG2784 releaseG859 to the captivesG164, And recoveryG309 of sightG309 to the blindG5185, To setG649 freeG1722G859 those who are oppressedG2352,197To proclaimG2784 the favorableG1184 yearG1763 of the LordG2962.” 20And He 8closedG4428 the 9bookG975, gaveG591 it backG591 to the attendantG5257 and 10satG2523 downG2523; and the eyesG3788 of allG3956 in the synagogueG4864 were fixedG816 on Him. 21And He beganG757 to sayG3004 to them, “TodayG4594 thisG3778 ScriptureG1124 has been fulfilledG4137 in your 11hearingG3775.” 22And allG3956 were 12speakingG3140 wellG3140 of Him, and wonderingG2296 at the 13graciousG5485 wordsG3056 which 14were fallingG1607 from His lipsG4750; and they were sayingG3004, “15Is thisG3778 not Joseph’sG2501 sonG5207?” 23And He saidG3004 to them, “NoG3843 doubtG3843 you will quoteG3004 thisG3778 proverbG3850 to Me, ‘PhysicianG2395, healG2323 yourselfG4572! WhateverG3745 we heardG191 was doneG1096 16at CapernaumG2746, doG4160 hereG5602 in 17your hometownG3968 as wellG2532.’” 24And He saidG3004, “TrulyG281 I sayG3004 to you, 18noG3762 prophetG4396 is welcomeG1184 in his hometownG3968. 25But I sayG3004 to you in truthG225, there were manyG4183 widowsG5503 in IsraelG2474 19in the daysG2250 of ElijahG2243, whenG3753 the skyG3772 was shutG2808 up for threeG5140 yearsG2094 and sixG1803 monthsG3376, whenG5613 a greatG3173 famineG3042 cameG1096 overG1909 allG3956 the landG1093; 26and yet ElijahG2243 was sentG3992 to noneG3762 of them, but 20onlyG1487G3361 to 21ZarephathG4558, in the land of 22SidonG4606, to a womanG1135 who was a widowG5503. 27And there were manyG4183 lepersG3015 in IsraelG2474 in the timeG1909 of ElishaG1666 the prophetG4396; and noneG3762 of them was cleansedG2511, but 23onlyG1487G3361 NaamanG3483 the SyrianG4948.” 28And allG3956 the people in the synagogueG4864 were filledG4092 with rageG2372 as they heardG191 theseG3778 thingsG3778; 29and they gotG450 up and 24droveG1544 Him out of the cityG4172, and ledG71 Him to the browG3790 of the hillG3735 on whichG3739 their cityG4172 had been builtG3618, in orderG5620 to throwG2630 Him downG2630 the cliffG2630. 30But 25passingG1330 throughG1223 their midstG3319, He wentG4198 His wayG4198.
31And 26He cameG2718 downG2718 to 27CapernaumG2746, a cityG4172 of GalileeG1056, and He was teachingG1321 them on the SabbathG4521; 32and 28they were amazedG1605 at His teachingG1322, for 29His 30messageG3056 was with authorityG1849. 33In the synagogueG4864 there was a manG444 31possessedG2192 by the spiritG4151 of an uncleanG169 demonG1140, and he criedG349 out with a loudG3173 voiceG5456, 34“LetG1436 us aloneG1436! 3233WhatG5101 business do we have with each other, JesusG2424 34of 35NazarethG3479? Have You comeG2064 to destroyG622 us? I knowG3609 whoG5101 You are--36the HolyG40 OneG40 of GodG2316!” 35But JesusG2424 37rebukedG2008 him, sayingG3004, “Be quietG5392 and comeG1831 out of him!” And when the demonG1140 had thrownG4496 him downG4496 in the midstG3319 of the people, he cameG1831 out of him withoutG3367 doingG984 him anyG3367 harmG984. 36And amazementG2285 cameG1096 upon them allG3956, and they began talkingG4814 with oneG240 anotherG240 sayingG3004, “WhatG5101 is 38thisG3778 messageG3056? For 39with authorityG1849 and powerG1411 He commandsG2004 the uncleanG169 spiritsG4151 and they comeG1831 out.” 37And 40the reportG2279 aboutG4012 Him was spreadingG1607 into everyG3956 localityG5117 in the surroundingG4066 districtG4066.
3841ThenG2532 He gotG450 up and left the synagogueG4864, and enteredG1525 Simon’sG4613 homeG3614. NowG1161 Simon’sG4613 mother-in-lawG3994 was 42sufferingG4912 from a highG3173 feverG4446, and they askedG2065 Him 43to helpG4012 her. 39And standingG2186 overG1883 her, He 44rebukedG2008 the feverG4446, and it leftG863 her; and she immediatelyG3916 gotG450 up and 45waitedG1247 on them.
4046While 47the sunG2246 was settingG1416, allG537 thoseG3745 whoG3745 hadG2192 any who were sickG770 with variousG4164 diseasesG3554 broughtG71 them to Him; and 48layingG2007 His handsG5495 on eachG1538 oneG1520 of them, He was 49healingG2323 them. 41DemonsG1140 alsoG2532 were comingG1831 out of manyG4183, shoutingG2905, “You are 50the SonG5207 of GodG2316!” But 51rebukingG2008 them, He would 52not allowG1439 them to speakG2980, becauseG3754 they knewG3609 Him to be 53the ChristG5547.
4254When dayG2250 cameG1096, Jesus leftG1831 and wentG4198 to a secludedG2048 placeG5117; and the crowdsG3793 were searchingG1934 for Him, and cameG2064 to Him and tried to keepG2722 Him from goingG4198 awayG4198 from them. 43But He saidG3004 to them, “I mustG1163 preachG2097 the kingdomG932 of GodG2316 to the otherG2087 citiesG4172 alsoG2532, 55for I was sentG649 for thisG3778 purpose.”
44SoG2532 He kept on preachingG2784 in the synagoguesG4864 56of 57JudeaG2453.
