Darby Bible

1And ManH376 knewH3045 EveH2332 his wifeH802; and she conceivedH2029, and boreH3205 CainH7014, and saidH559, I have acquiredH7069 a manH376 with Jehovah. 2And she further boreH3205 his brotherH251 AbelH1893. And AbelH1893 wasH1961 a shepherdH7462, but CainH7014 wasH1961 a husbandman. 3And in process of time it cameH935 to pass that CainH7014 broughtH935 of the fruitH6529 of the groundH127 an offeringH4503 to Jehovah. 4And AbelH1893, he alsoH1571 broughtH935 of the firstlings of his flockH6629, and of their fatH2459. And Jehovah lookedH8159 upon AbelH1893, and on his offeringH4503; 5and upon CainH7014, and on his offeringH4503, he did not lookH8159. And CainH7014 was veryH3966 angryH2734, and his countenance fellH5307. 6And Jehovah saidH559 to CainH7014, WhyH4100 art thou angryH2734, and whyH4100 is thy countenance fallenH5307? 7If thou doest wellH3190, will not [thy countenance] look up [with confidence]? and if thou doest not wellH3190, sinH2403 lieth at the doorH6607; and unto thee [shall be] his desireH8669, and thou shalt ruleH4910 over him. 8And CainH7014 spoke to AbelH1893 his brotherH251, and it came to pass when they wereH1961 in the fieldH7704, that CainH7014 roseH6965 up against AbelH1893 his brotherH251, and slewH2026 him. 9And Jehovah saidH559 to CainH7014, WhereH335 is AbelH1893 thy brotherH251? And he saidH559, I knowH3045 not: am I my brother's keeperH8104? 10And he saidH559, What hast thou done? the voiceH6963 of thy brother's bloodH1818 is cryingH6817 to me from the groundH127. 11And nowH6258 be thou cursedH779 from the groundH127, which hath openedH6475 its mouthH6310 to receiveH3947 thy brother's bloodH1818 from thy handH3027. 12When thou tillest the groundH776, it shall not henceforth yield thee its strengthH3581; a wanderer and fugitive shalt thou beH1961 on the earthH776. 13And CainH7014 saidH559 to Jehovah, My punishmentH5771 is too greatH1419 to be borneH5375. 14Behold, thou hast drivenH1644 me this dayH3117 from the faceH6440 of the groundH776, and from thy faceH6440 shall I beH1961 hidH5641; and I shall beH1961 a wanderer and fugitive on the earthH776; and it will come to pass, [that] every one who findsH4672 me will slayH2026 me. 15And Jehovah saidH559 to him, ThereforeH3651, whoever slayeth CainH7014, it shall be revenged sevenfoldH7659. And Jehovah setH7760 a mark on CainH7014, lest any findingH4672 him should smite him. 16And CainH7014 wentH3318 out from the presenceH6440 of Jehovah, and dweltH3427 in the landH776 of Nod, toward the eastH6926 of EdenH5731. 17And CainH7014 knewH3045 his wifeH802, and she conceivedH2029 and boreH3205 EnochH2585. And he builtH1129 a cityH5892; and he calledH7121 the nameH8034 of the cityH5892 after the nameH8034 of his sonH1121 EnochH2585. 18And to EnochH2585 was bornH3205 IradH5897; and IradH5897 begot MehujaelH4232; and MehujaelH4232 begot MethushaelH4967; and MethushaelH4967 begot Lemech. 19And Lemech tookH3947 twoH8147 wivesH802: the nameH8034 of the oneH259 was AdahH5711, and the nameH8034 of the secondH8145, ZillahH6741. 20And AdahH5711 boreH3205 Jabal: he wasH1961 the fatherH1 of those who dwellH3427 in tentsH168, and [breed] cattle. 21And his brother's nameH8034 was Jubal: he was the fatherH1 of those who handle the harpH3658 and pipe. 22And ZillahH6741, she alsoH1571 boreH3205 Tubal-CainH8423, the forger of every kind of tool of brass and ironH1270. And the sisterH269 of Tubal-CainH8423 was NaamahH5279. 23And Lemech saidH559 to his wivesH802: AdahH5711 and ZillahH6741, hearH8085 my voiceH6963, Ye wivesH802 of Lemech, listenH8085 to my speech. For I have slainH2026 a manH376 for my woundH6482, and a youthH3206 for my bruise. 24If CainH7014 shall be avengedH5358 seven-fold; Lemech seventyH7657 and sevenH7651 fold. 25And AdamH121 knewH3045 his wifeH802 againH5750, and she boreH3205 a sonH1121, and calledH7121 his nameH8034 SethH8352: ...For 1GodH430 has appointedH7896 me another seedH2233 instead of AbelH1893, because CainH7014 has slainH2026 him. 26And to SethH8352, to him alsoH1571 was bornH3205 a sonH1121; and he calledH7121 his nameH8034 EnoshH583. ThenH227 peopleH1121 beganH2490 to callH7121 on the nameH8034 of Jehovah.
