Genesis 47

Darby Bible

1And JosephH3130 cameH935 and toldH5046 PharaohH6547 and saidH559, My fatherH1 and my brethren, and their sheepH6629 and their cattleH1241, and all that they have, are comeH935 out of the landH776 of CanaanH3667; and behold, they are in the landH776 of GoshenH1657. 2And he tookH3947 from the whole number of his brethren, fiveH2568 menH376, and setH3322 them before PharaohH6547. 3And PharaohH6547 saidH559 to his brethren, What is your occupation? And they saidH559 to PharaohH6547, Thy servantsH5650 are shepherdsH7462, both we and our fathersH1. 4And they saidH559 to PharaohH6547, To sojourn in the landH776 are we comeH935; for there is no pastureH4829 for the sheepH6629 that thy servantsH5650 have, for the famineH7458 is grievous in the landH776 of CanaanH3667; and nowH6258, we pray thee, let thy servantsH5650 dwellH3427 in the landH776 of GoshenH1657. 5And PharaohH6547 spoke to JosephH3130, sayingH559, Thy fatherH1 and thy brethren are comeH935 to thee. 6The landH776 of EgyptH4714 is before thee; in the best of the landH776 settle thy fatherH1 and thy brethren: let them dwellH3427 in the landH776 of GoshenH1657. And if thou knowest menH376 of activity among them, then setH7760 them as overseers of cattle over what I have. 7And JosephH3130 broughtH935 JacobH3290 his fatherH1, and setH5975 him before PharaohH6547. And JacobH3290 blessedH1288 PharaohH6547. 8And PharaohH6547 saidH559 to JacobH3290, HowH4100 many are the daysH3117 of the yearsH8141 of thy life? 9And JacobH3290 saidH559 to PharaohH6547, The daysH3117 of the yearsH8141 of my sojourning are a hundredH3967 and thirtyH7970 yearsH8141. FewH4592 and evilH7451 have beenH1961 the daysH3117 of the yearsH8141 of my life, and they do not attain to the daysH3117 of the yearsH8141 of the life of my fathersH1, in the daysH3117 of their sojourning. 10And JacobH3290 blessedH1288 PharaohH6547, and wentH3318 out from PharaohH6547. 11And JosephH3130 settled his fatherH1 and his brethren, and gaveH5414 them a possessionH272 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, in the best of the landH776, in the landH776 of RamesesH7486, as PharaohH6547 had commandedH6680. 12And JosephH3130 maintained his fatherH1, and his brethren, and all his father's householdH1004, with breadH3899, according to the number of the littleH2945 onesH2945. 13And there was no breadH3899 in all the landH776; for the famineH7458 was veryH3966 grievous; and the landH776 of EgyptH4714 and the landH776 of CanaanH3667 were exhausted through the famineH7458. 14And JosephH3130 gatheredH3950 up all the moneyH3701 that was foundH4672 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, and in the landH776 of CanaanH3667, for the grainH7668 which they boughtH7666; and JosephH3130 broughtH935 the moneyH3701 into Pharaoh's houseH1004. 15And when moneyH3701 cameH935 to an endH8552 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714 and in the landH776 of CanaanH3667, all the Egyptians cameH935 to JosephH3130, sayingH559, GiveH3051 us breadH3899! for whyH4100 should we dieH4191 before thee? for [our] moneyH3701 is all goneH935. 16And JosephH3130 saidH559, GiveH5414 your cattle, and I will giveH5414 you for your cattle, if [your] moneyH3701 be all gone. 17And they broughtH935 their cattleH1241 to JosephH3130; and JosephH3130 gaveH5414 them breadH3899 for horsesH5483, and for flocksH6629 of sheepH6629, and for herdsH1241 of cattleH1241, and for asses; and he fed them with breadH3899 for all their cattleH1241 that yearH8141. 18And that yearH8141 endedH8552; and they cameH935 to him the secondH8145 yearH8141, and saidH559 to him, We will not hideH3582 [it] from my lordH113 that since [our] moneyH3701 is comeH935 to an endH8552, and the herds of cattleH929 are in the possession of my lordH113, nothing is leftH7604 before my lordH113 but our bodiesH1472 and our landH127. 19WhyH4100 should we dieH4191 before thine eyesH5869, both we and our landH127? BuyH7069 us and our landH127 for breadH3899, and we and our landH127 will beH1961 bondmen to PharaohH6547; and giveH5414 seedH2233, that we may liveH2421, and not dieH4191, and that the landH127 beH1961 not desolateH3456. 20And JosephH3130 boughtH7069 all the soil of EgyptH4714 for PharaohH6547; for the Egyptians soldH4376 every manH376 his fieldH7704, because the famineH7458 prevailedH2388 over them; and the landH776 becameH1961 Pharaoh's. 21And as for the peopleH5971, he removed them into the citiesH5892, from [one] endH7097 of the bordersH1366 of EgyptH4714 even to the [other] endH7097 of it. 22OnlyH7535 the landH127 of the priestsH3548 he did not buyH7069; for the priestsH3548 had an assigned portionH2706 from PharaohH6547, and ateH398 their assigned portionH2706 which PharaohH6547 had givenH5414 them; so they did not sellH4376 their landH127. 23And JosephH3130 saidH559 to the peopleH5971, Behold, I have boughtH7069 you this dayH3117 and your landH127 for PharaohH6547: lo, hereH2005 is seedH2233 for you, and sowH2232 the landH127. 24And it shall come to pass in the increase that ye shall giveH5414 the fifthH2549 to PharaohH6547, and the fourH702 parts shall beH1961 your own, for seedH2233 of the fieldH7704, and for your foodH400, and for them of your householdsH1004, and for foodH400 for your littleH2945 onesH2945. 25And they saidH559, Thou hast saved us aliveH2421. Let us findH4672 favour in the eyesH5869 of my lordH113, and we will beH1961 Pharaoh's bondmen. 26And JosephH3130 madeH7760 it a law over the landH127 of EgyptH4714 to this dayH3117, [that] the fifth should beH1961 for PharaohH6547, except the landH127 of the priestsH3548: theirs aloneH905 did not becomeH1961 Pharaoh's. 27And IsraelH3478 dweltH3427 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, in the landH776 of GoshenH1657; and they had possessionsH270 in it, and were fruitfulH6509 and multipliedH7235 exceedinglyH3966. 28And JacobH3290 livedH2421 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714 seventeen yearsH8141; and the daysH3117 of JacobH3290, the yearsH8141 of his life, wereH1961 a hundredH3967 and forty-seven yearsH8141. 29And the daysH3117 of IsraelH3478 approached that he should dieH4191. And he calledH7121 his sonH1121 JosephH3130, and saidH559 to him, If now I have foundH4672 favour in thine eyesH5869, putH4191, I pray thee, thy handH3027 under my thighH3409, and deal kindly and truly with me: buryH6912 me not, I pray thee, in EgyptH4714; 30but when I shall lieH7901 with my fathersH1, thou shalt carryH5375 me out of EgyptH4714, and buryH6912 me in their sepulchre. And he saidH559, I will do according to thy wordH1697. 31And he saidH559, SwearH7650 to me; and he sworeH7650 to him. And IsraelH3478 worshipped on the bed's headH7218.
