Genesis 22
Darby Bible
1And it came to pass after these thingsH1697, that 1GodH430 tried AbrahamH85, and saidH559 to him, AbrahamH85! and he saidH559, HereH2009 amH1961 I. 2And he saidH559, TakeH3947 now thy sonH1121, thine onlyH3173 [sonH1121], whom thou lovest, IsaacH3327, and get thee into the landH776 of MoriahH4179, and there offerH5927 him up for a burnt-offering on oneH259 of the mountainsH2022 which I will tell thee of. 3And AbrahamH85 roseH6965 earlyH7925 in the morningH1242, and saddledH2280 his ass, and tookH3947 twoH8147 of his youngH5288 menH5288 with him, and IsaacH3327 his sonH1121; and he clave the woodH6086 for the burnt-offering, and roseH6965 up and went to the placeH4725 that 2GodH430 had told him of. 4On the thirdH7992 dayH3117 AbrahamH85 liftedH5375 up his eyesH5869 and sawH7200 the placeH4725 from afarH7350. 5And AbrahamH85 saidH559 to his youngH5288 menH5288, Abide ye hereH6311 with the ass; and I and the ladH5288 will goH7725 yonder and worship, and come again to you. 6And AbrahamH85 tookH3947 the woodH6086 of the burnt-offering, and laid it on IsaacH3327 his sonH1121; and he tookH3947 the fireH784 in his handH3027, and the knifeH3979, and they went both of them togetherH3162. 7And IsaacH3327 spoke to AbrahamH85 his fatherH1, and saidH559, My fatherH1! And he saidH559, HereH2009 am I, my sonH1121. And he saidH559, Behold the fireH784 and the woodH6086; but whereH346 is the sheepH7716 for a burnt-offering? 8And AbrahamH85 saidH559, My sonH1121, 3GodH430 will provide himself with the sheepH7716 for a burnt-offering. And they went both of them togetherH3162. 9And they cameH935 to the placeH4725 of which 4GodH430 had told him. And AbrahamH85 builtH1129 the altarH4196 there, and piled the woodH6086; and he bound IsaacH3327 his sonH1121, and laid him on the altarH4196 upon the woodH6086. 10And AbrahamH85 stretchedH7971 out his handH3027, and tookH3947 the knifeH3979 to slaughterH7819 his sonH1121. 11And the AngelH4397 of Jehovah calledH7121 to him from the heavensH8064, and saidH559, AbrahamH85, AbrahamH85! And he saidH559, HereH2009 am I. 12And he saidH559, StretchH7971 not out thy handH3027 against the ladH5288, neither do anythingH3972 to him; for nowH6258 I knowH3045 that thou fearest 5GodH430, and hast not withheldH2820 thy sonH1121, thine onlyH3173 [sonH1121], from me. 13And AbrahamH85 liftedH5375 up his eyesH5869, and lookedH7200, and behold, behind was a ramH352 caught in the thicketH5442 by its hornsH7161; and AbrahamH85 wentH5927 and tookH3947 the ramH352, and offeredH5927 it up for a burnt-offering instead of his sonH1121. 14And AbrahamH85 calledH7121 the nameH8034 of that placeH4725 Jehovah-jireh; as it is saidH559 at the present dayH3117, On the mount of Jehovah will be provided. 15And the AngelH4397 of Jehovah calledH7121 to AbrahamH85 from the heavensH8064 a secondH8145 timeH8145, 16and saidH559, By myself I swearH7650, saith Jehovah, that, because thou hast done this, and hast not withheldH2820 thy sonH1121, thine onlyH3173 [sonH1121], 17I will richly blessH1288 thee, and greatlyH7235 multiplyH7235 thy seedH2233, as the starsH3556 of heavenH8064, and as the sandH2344 that is on the sea-shore; and thy seedH2233 shall possessH3423 the gateH8179 of his enemiesH341; 18and in thy seedH2233 shall all the nationsH1471 of the earthH776 blessH1288 themselves, because thou hast hearkened to my voiceH6963. 19And AbrahamH85 returnedH7725 to his youngH5288 menH5288, and they roseH6965 up and wentH7725 togetherH3162 to Beer-sheba. And AbrahamH85 dweltH3427 at Beer-sheba. 20And it came to pass after these thingsH1697, that it wasH1961 toldH5046 AbrahamH85, sayingH559, Behold, MilcahH4435, she alsoH1571 has borneH3205 sonsH1121 to thy brotherH251 NahorH5152: 21UzH5780 his first-born, and BuzH938 his brotherH251, and KemuelH7055 the fatherH1 of AramH758, 22and Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and BethuelH1328. 23(And BethuelH1328 begot Rebecca.) These eightH8083 MilcahH4435 boreH3205 to NahorH5152, Abraham's brotherH251. 24And his concubineH6370, namedH8034 Reumah, she alsoH1571 boreH3205 Tebah, and Gaham, and Thahash, and MaacahH4601.
