Genesis 3
Darby Bible
1And the serpent wasH1961 more craftyH6175 than any animalH2416 of the fieldH7704 which Jehovah Elohim had madeH6213. And it saidH559 to the womanH802, Is it evenH637 so, that 1GodH430 has saidH559, Ye shall not eatH398 of every treeH6086 of the gardenH1588? 2And the womanH802 saidH559 to the serpent, We may eatH398 of the fruitH6529 of the treesH6086 of the gardenH1588; 3but of the fruitH6529 of the treeH6086 that is in the midstH8432 of the gardenH1588, 2GodH430 has saidH559, Ye shall not eatH398 of it, and ye shall not touchH5060 it, lestH6435 ye dieH4191. 4And the serpent saidH559 to the womanH802, Ye will not certainlyH4191 dieH4191; 5but 3GodH430 knowsH3045 that in the dayH3117 ye eatH398 of it, your eyesH5869 will beH1961 openedH6491, and ye will beH1961 as 4GodH430, knowingH3045 goodH2896 and evilH7451. 6And the womanH802 sawH7200 that the treeH6086 was goodH2896 for foodH3978, and that it was a pleasure for the eyesH5869, and the treeH6086 was to be desiredH2530 to giveH5414 intelligence; and she tookH3947 of its fruitH6529, and ateH398, and gaveH5414 alsoH1571 to her husbandH376 with her, and he ateH398. 7And the eyesH5869 of them both were openedH6491, and they knewH3045 that they were nakedH5903. And they sewedH8609 fig-leaves together, and madeH6213 themselves aprons. 8And they heardH8085 the voiceH6963 of Jehovah Elohim, walkingH1980 in the gardenH1588 in the cool of the dayH3117. And ManH120 and his wifeH802 hidH2244 themselves from the presenceH6440 of Jehovah Elohim, in the midstH8432 of the treesH6086 of the gardenH1588. 9And Jehovah Elohim calledH7121 to ManH120, and saidH559 to him, WhereH335 art thou? 10And he saidH559, I heardH8085 thy voiceH6963 in the gardenH1588, and I fearedH3372, because I am nakedH5903; and I hidH2244 myself. 11And he saidH559, Who toldH5046 thee that thou art nakedH5903? Hast thou eatenH398 of the treeH6086 of which I commandedH6680 thee not to eatH398? 12And ManH120 saidH559, The womanH802, whom thou hast givenH5414 [to be] with me, she gaveH5414 me of the treeH6086, and I ateH398. 13And Jehovah Elohim saidH559 to the womanH802, What is this thou hast done? And the womanH802 saidH559, The serpent deceived me, and I ateH398. 14And Jehovah Elohim saidH559 to the serpent, Because thou hast done this, be thou cursedH779 above all cattleH929, and above every beast of the fieldH7704. On thy bellyH1512 shalt thou go, and eatH398 dustH6083 all the daysH3117 of thy life. 15And I will putH7896 enmityH342 between thee and the womanH802, and between thy seedH2233 and her seedH2233; he shall crush thy headH7218, and thou shalt crush his heelH6119. 16To the womanH802 he saidH559, I will greatlyH7235 increaseH7235 thy travail and thy pregnancy; with painH6093 thou shalt bearH3205 children; and to thy husbandH376 shall be thy desireH8669, and he shall ruleH4910 over thee. 17And to AdamH121 he saidH559, Because thou hast hearkened to the voiceH6963 of thy wifeH802, and eatenH398 of the treeH6086 of which I commandedH6680 thee sayingH559, Thou shalt not eatH398 of it: cursedH779 be the groundH127 on thy account; with toil shalt thou eatH398 [of] it all the daysH3117 of thy life; 18and thornsH6975 and thistlesH1863 shall it yield thee; and thou shalt eatH398 the herb of the fieldH7704. 19In the sweat of thy faceH639 shalt thou eatH398 breadH3899, until thou returnH7725 to the groundH127: for out of it wast thou takenH3947. For dustH6083 thou art; and unto dustH6083 shalt thou returnH7725. 20And ManH120 calledH7121 his wife's nameH8034 EveH2332; because she is the motherH517 of all living. 21And Jehovah Elohim madeH6213 Adam and his wifeH802 coats of skinH5785, and clothedH3847 them. 22And Jehovah Elohim saidH559, Behold, ManH120 is becomeH1961 as oneH259 of us, to knowH3045 goodH2896 and evilH7451. And nowH6258, lestH6435 he stretchH7971 out his handH3027, and takeH3947 alsoH1571 of the treeH6086 of lifeH2416, and eatH398, and live for everH5769...! 23Therefore Jehovah Elohim sentH7971 him forthH7971 from the gardenH1588 of EdenH5731, to till the groundH127 from which he was takenH3947. 24And he droveH1644 out ManH120; and he set the CherubimH3742, and the flame of the flashing swordH2719, toward the eastH6924 of the gardenH1588 of EdenH5731, to guardH8104 the wayH1870 to the treeH6086 of lifeH2416.
