Genesis 41
Darby Bible
1And it came to pass at the endH7093 of two full yearsH8141, that PharaohH6547 dreamedH2492, and behold, he stoodH5975 by the riverH2975. 2And behold, there cameH5927 up out of the riverH2975 sevenH7651 kine, fine-looking and fat-fleshed, and they fed in the reed-grass. 3And behold, sevenH7651 otherH312 kine cameH5927 up after them out of the riverH2975, bad-looking and lean-fleshed, and stoodH5975 by the kine on the bankH8193 of the riverH2975. 4And the kine that were bad-looking and lean-fleshed ateH398 up the sevenH7651 kine that were fine-looking and fatH1277. And PharaohH6547 awokeH3364. 5And he sleptH3462 and dreamedH2492 the secondH8145 timeH8145; and behold, sevenH7651 earsH7641 of corn grew up on oneH259 stalkH7070, fatH1277 and goodH2896. 6And behold, sevenH7651 earsH7641, thinH1851 and parched with the eastH6921 windH6921, sprung up after them. 7And the thinH1851 earsH7641 devoured the sevenH7651 fatH1277 and fullH4392 earsH7641. And PharaohH6547 awokeH3364; and behold, it was a dreamH2472. 8And it came to pass in the morningH1242, that his spiritH7307 was troubledH6470; and he sentH7971 and calledH7121 for all the scribesH5608 of EgyptH4714, and all the sages who wereH1961 therein, and PharaohH6547 told them his dreamH2472; but [there was] none to interpretH6622 them to PharaohH6547. 9Then spokeH1696 the chiefH8269 of the cup-bearers to PharaohH6547, sayingH559, I rememberH2142 mine offences this dayH3117. 10PharaohH6547 was wroth with his bondmen, and putH5414 me in custodyH4929 into the captain of the life-guard's houseH1004, me and the chiefH8269 of the bakersH644. 11And we dreamedH2492 a dreamH2472 in oneH259 nightH3915, I and he; we dreamedH2492 each according to the interpretationH6623 of his dreamH2472. 12And there was there with us a HebrewH5680 youthH5288, a bondman of the captain of the life-guard, to whom we told [them], and he interpretedH6622 to us our dreamsH2472; to each he interpretedH6622 according to his dreamH2472. 13And it came to pass, just as he interpretedH6622 to us, so it came about: me has he restoredH7725 to my office, and him he hangedH8518. 14Then PharaohH6547 sentH7971 and calledH7121 JosephH3130; and they broughtH935 him hastily out of the dungeon. And he shavedH1548 [himself], and changedH2498 his clothesH8071, and cameH935 in to PharaohH6547. 15And PharaohH6547 saidH559 to JosephH3130, I have dreamt a dreamH2472, and there is none to interpretH6622 it. And I have heardH8085 sayH559 of thee, thou understandest a dreamH2472 to interpretH6622 it. 16And JosephH3130 answered PharaohH6547, sayingH559, It is not in me: 1GodH430 will give PharaohH6547 an answerH6030 of peaceH7965. 17And PharaohH6547 saidH1696 to JosephH3130, In my dreamH2472, behold, I stoodH5975 on the bankH8193 of the riverH2975. 18And behold, there cameH5927 up out of the riverH2975 sevenH7651 kine, fat-fleshed and of fine formH8389, and they fed in the reed-grass. 19And behold, sevenH7651 otherH312 kine cameH5927 up after them, poor, and veryH3966 ill-formed, and lean-fleshed — such as I never sawH7200 in all the landH776 of EgyptH4714 for badness. 20And the lean and badH7451 kine ateH398 up the sevenH7651 firstH7223 fatH1277 kine; 21and they cameH935 into their belly, and it could not be knownH3045 that they had comeH935 into their belly; and their look was badH7451, as at the beginning. And I awokeH3364. 22And I sawH7200 in my dreamH2472, and behold, sevenH7651 earsH7641 cameH5927 up on oneH259 stalkH7070, fullH4392 and goodH2896. 23And behold, sevenH7651 earsH7641, withered, thinH1851, parched with the eastH6921 windH6921, sprung up after them; 24and the thinH1851 earsH7641 devoured the sevenH7651 goodH2896 earsH7641. And I toldH5046 it to the scribes; but there was none to make it known to me. 25And JosephH3130 saidH559 to PharaohH6547, The dreamH2472 of PharaohH6547 is oneH259. What 2GodH430 will do he has madeH6213 known to PharaohH6547. 26The sevenH7651 fine kine are sevenH7651 yearsH8141; and the sevenH7651 goodH2896 earsH7641 are sevenH7651 yearsH8141: the dreamH2472 is oneH259. 27And the sevenH7651 lean and badH7451 kine that came up after them are sevenH7651 yearsH8141; and the sevenH7651 emptyH7386 earsH7641, parched with the eastH6921 windH6921, will beH1961 sevenH7651 yearsH8141 of famineH7458. 28This is the wordH1697 which I have spokenH1696 to PharaohH6547: what 3GodH430 is about to do he has let PharaohH6547 seeH7200. 29Behold, there comeH935 sevenH7651 yearsH8141 of greatH1419 plentyH7647 throughout the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 30And there will ariseH6965 after them sevenH7651 yearsH8141 of famineH7458; and all the plentyH7647 will be forgottenH7911 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, and the famineH7458 will waste away the landH776. 31And the plentyH7647 will not be knownH3045 afterwards in the landH776 by reason of that famineH7458; for it will be veryH3966 grievous. 32And as regards the double repetition of the dreamH2472 to PharaohH6547, it is that the thingH1697 is establishedH3559 by 4GodH430, and 5GodH430 will hastenH4116 to do it. 33And nowH6258 let PharaohH6547 lookH7200 himself out a manH376 discreet and wiseH2450, and setH7896 him over the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 34Let PharaohH6547 do [this]: let him appointH6485 overseersH6496 over the landH776, and take the fifth part of the landH776 of EgyptH4714 during the sevenH7651 yearsH8141 of plentyH7647, 35and let them gatherH6908 all the foodH400 of these comingH935 goodH2896 yearsH8141, and lay up corn under the handH3027 of PharaohH6547, for foodH400 in the citiesH5892, and keepH8104 [it]. 36And let the foodH400 beH1961 as store for the landH776 for the sevenH7651 yearsH8141 of famineH7458, which will beH1961 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, that the landH776 perish not through the famineH7458. 37And the wordH1697 was goodH3190 in the eyesH5869 of PharaohH6547, and in the eyesH5869 of all his bondmen. 38And PharaohH6547 saidH559 to his bondmen, Shall we findH4672 [oneH376] as this, a manH376 in whom the SpiritH7307 of 6GodH430 is? 39And PharaohH6547 saidH559 to JosephH3130, Since 7GodH430 has madeH3045 all this knownH3045 to thee, there is none [so] discreet and wiseH2450 as thou. 40Thou shalt beH1961 over my houseH1004, and according to thy commandment shall all my peopleH5971 regulate themselves; onlyH7535 concerning the throneH3678 will I beH1961 greaterH1431 than thou. 41And PharaohH6547 saidH559 to JosephH3130, SeeH7200, I have setH5414 thee over all the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 42And PharaohH6547 took off his ringH2885 from his handH3027, and putH5414 it on Joseph's handH3027, and arrayed him in clothesH899 of byssus, and putH5414 a goldH2091 chainH7242 on his neckH6677. 43And he caused him to rideH7392 in the secondH4932 chariotH4818 that he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee! and he setH5414 him over all the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 44And PharaohH6547 saidH559 to JosephH3130, I am PharaohH6547; and without thee shall no manH376 liftH7311 up his handH3027 or his footH7272 in all the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 45And PharaohH6547 calledH7121 Joseph's nameH8034 Zaphnath-paaneah, and gaveH5414 him as wifeH802 Asnath the daughterH1323 of Potipherah the priestH3548 in On. And JosephH3130 wentH3318 out over the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 46And JosephH3130 was thirtyH7970 yearsH8141 old when he stoodH5975 before PharaohH6547 kingH4428 of EgyptH4714. And JosephH3130 wentH3318 out from PharaohH6547, and passedH5674 through the whole landH776 of EgyptH4714. 47And in the sevenH7651 yearsH8141 of plentyH7647 the landH776 brought forth by handfuls. 48And he gatheredH6908 up all the foodH400 of the sevenH7651 yearsH8141 that wasH1961 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, and putH5414 the foodH400 in the citiesH5892; the foodH400 of the fieldsH7704 of the cityH5892, which were roundH5439 about it, he laid up in it. 49And JosephH3130 laid up corn as sandH2344 of the seaH3220 exceeding muchH7235, until they left off numberingH4557; for it was without numberH4557. 50And to JosephH3130 were bornH3205 twoH8147 sonsH1121 before the yearH8141 of famineH7458 cameH935, whom Asnath the daughterH1323 of Potipherah the priestH3548 in On boreH3205 to him. 51And JosephH3130 calledH7121 the nameH8034 of the firstbornH1060 ManassehH4519 — For 8GodH430 has made me forgetH5382 all my toilH5999, and all my father's houseH1004. 52And the nameH8034 of the secondH8145 he calledH7121 EphraimH669 — For 9GodH430 has caused me to be fruitfulH6509 in the landH776 of my affliction. 53And the sevenH7651 yearsH8141 of plentyH7647 that were in the landH776 of EgyptH4714 were endedH3615; 54and the sevenH7651 yearsH8141 of the dearth beganH2490 to comeH935, according as JosephH3130 had saidH559. And there wasH1961 dearth in all landsH776; but in all the landH776 of EgyptH4714 there wasH1961 breadH3899. 55And all the landH776 of EgyptH4714 suffered from the dearth. And the peopleH5971 criedH6817 to PharaohH6547 for breadH3899; and PharaohH6547 saidH559 to all the Egyptians, Go to JosephH3130: what he saysH559 to you, that do. 56And the famineH7458 wasH1961 on all the earthH776. And JosephH3130 openedH6605 every place in which there wasH1961 [provision], and soldH7666 grain to the Egyptians; and the famineH7458 wasH1961 grievous in the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 57And all countries cameH935 into EgyptH4714 to JosephH3130, to buyH7666 [grain], because the famineH7458 was grievous on the whole earthH776.
