Genesis 20
Darby Bible
1And AbrahamH85 departedH5265 thence towards the southH5045 country, and dweltH3427 between KadeshH6946 and ShurH7793, and sojourned at GerarH1642. 2And AbrahamH85 saidH559 of SarahH8283 his wifeH802, She is my sisterH269. And AbimelechH40 the kingH4428 of GerarH1642 sentH7971 and tookH3947 SarahH8283. 3But 1GodH430 cameH935 to AbimelechH40 in a dreamH2472 by nightH3915, and saidH559 to him, Behold, thou art [but] a deadH4191 man, because of the womanH802 that thou hast takenH3947; for she is a man's wifeH802. 4But AbimelechH40 had not come near her. And he saidH559, LordH136, wilt thou alsoH1571 killH2026 a righteousH6662 nationH1471? 5Did he not sayH559 to me, She is my sisterH269? and she, even she saidH559, He is my brotherH251. In the integrityH8537 of my heartH3824 and in the innocency of my handsH3709 have I done this. 6And 2GodH430 saidH559 to him in a dreamH2472, I alsoH1571 knewH3045 that thou didst this in the integrityH8537 of thy heartH3824, and I, too, have withheldH2820 thee from sinningH2398 against me: thereforeH3651 have I not suffered thee to touchH5060 her. 7And nowH6258, restoreH7725 the man's wifeH802; for he is a prophetH5030, and will prayH6419 for thee, that thou mayest liveH2421. And if thou do not restoreH7725 [her], knowH3045 that thou shalt certainly dieH4191, thou and all that is thine. 8And AbimelechH40 roseH7925 earlyH7925 in the morningH1242, and calledH7121 all his servantsH5650, and spokeH1696 all these wordsH1697 in their earsH241; and the menH376 were greatly afraidH3372. 9And AbimelechH40 calledH7121 AbrahamH85 and saidH559 to him, What hast thou done to us? And in what have I sinnedH2398 against thee, that thou hast broughtH935 on me, and on my kingdomH4467, a greatH1419 sinH2398? Thou hast done to me deedsH4639 that ought not to be done. 10And AbimelechH40 saidH559 to AbrahamH85, What hast thou seenH7200 that thou hast done this? 11And AbrahamH85 saidH559, Because I saidH559, Surely the fearH3374 of 3GodH430 is not in this placeH4725, and they will killH2026 me for my wife's sake. 12But she is alsoH1571 truly my sisterH269, the daughterH1323 of my fatherH1, but not the daughterH1323 of my motherH517; and she becameH1961 my wifeH802. 13And it cameH935 to pass when 4GodH430 caused me to wanderH8582 from my father's houseH1004, that I saidH559 to her, Let this beH1961 thy kindness which thou shalt shew to me: at every placeH4725 whither we shall comeH935, sayH559 of me, He is my brotherH251. 14And AbimelechH40 tookH3947 sheepH6629 and oxenH1241, and bondmen and bondwomen, and gaveH5414 [them] to AbrahamH85, and restoredH7725 him SarahH8283 his wifeH802. 15And AbimelechH40 saidH559, Behold, my landH776 is before thee: dwellH3427 where it is goodH2896 in thine eyesH5869. 16And to SarahH8283 he saidH559, Behold, I have givenH5414 thy brotherH251 a thousandH505 [pieces] of silverH3701; behold, let that be to thee a coveringH3682 of the eyesH5869, in respect of all that are with thee, and with all; and she was reprovedH3198. 17And AbrahamH85 prayedH6419 to 5GodH430, and 6GodH430 healedH7495 AbimelechH40, and his wifeH802 and his handmaids, and they boreH3205 [childrenH3205]. 18For Jehovah had fast closed up all the wombsH7358 of the houseH1004 of AbimelechH40 because of SarahH8283 Abraham's wifeH802.
