Genesis 50

Darby Bible

1And JosephH3130 fellH5307 upon his father's faceH6440, and weptH1058 upon him, and kissedH5401 him. 2And JosephH3130 commandedH6680 his servantsH5650 the physiciansH7495 to embalmH2590 his fatherH1. And the physiciansH7495 embalmedH2590 IsraelH3478. 3And fortyH705 daysH3117 were fulfilled for him; for soH3651 are fulfilled the daysH3117 of those who are embalmedH2590. And the EgyptiansH4713 mourned for him seventyH7657 daysH3117. 4And when the daysH3117 of his mourning were past, JosephH3130 spokeH1696 to the houseH1004 of PharaohH6547, sayingH559, If now I have foundH4672 favour in your eyesH5869, speakH1696, I pray you, in the earsH241 of PharaohH6547, sayingH559, 5My fatherH1 madeH7650 me swearH7650, sayingH559, Behold, I dieH4191; in my graveH6913 which I have dugH3738 myself in the landH776 of CanaanH3667, there shalt thou buryH6912 me. And nowH6258, let me goH5927 up, I pray thee, that I may buryH6912 my fatherH1; and I will comeH5927 again. 6And PharaohH6547 saidH559, GoH5927 up and buryH6912 thy fatherH1, according as he madeH7650 thee swearH7650. 7And JosephH3130 wentH5927 up to buryH6912 his fatherH1; and with him wentH5927 up all the bondmen of PharaohH6547, the eldersH2205 of his houseH1004, and all the eldersH2205 of the landH776 of EgyptH4714, 8and all the houseH1004 of JosephH3130, and his brethren, and his father's houseH1004; onlyH7535 their littleH2945 onesH2945, and their flocksH6629, and their herdsH1241, they leftH5800 in the landH776 of GoshenH1657. 9And there wentH5927 up with him both chariotsH7393 and horsemenH6571; and the campH4264 wasH1961 veryH3966 great. 10And they cameH935 to the threshing-floor of AtadH329, which is beyond the JordanH3383; and there they lamentedH5594 with a greatH1419 and veryH3966 grievous lamentation; and he madeH6213 a mourningH60 for his fatherH1 of sevenH7651 daysH3117. 11And the inhabitantsH3427 of the landH776, the CanaanitesH3669, sawH7200 the mourningH60 at the threshing-floor of AtadH329, and they saidH559, This is a grievous mourningH60 of the EgyptiansH4713. ThereforeH3651 the nameH8034 of it was calledH7121 Abel-Mizraim, which is beyond the JordanH3383. 12And his sonsH1121 did to him according as he had commandedH6680 them; 13and his sonsH1121 carriedH5375 him into the landH776 of CanaanH3667, and buriedH6912 him in the caveH4631 of the fieldH7704 of MachpelahH4375 which AbrahamH85 had boughtH7069 along with the fieldH7704, for a possessionH272 of a sepulchre, of EphronH6085 the HittiteH2850, opposite to MamreH4471. 14And, after he had buriedH6912 his fatherH1, JosephH3130 returnedH7725 to EgyptH4714, he and his brethren, and all that had goneH5927 up with him to buryH6912 his fatherH1. 15And when Joseph's brethren sawH7200 that their fatherH1 was deadH4191, they saidH559, If now JosephH3130 should be hostile to us, and should indeed requite us all the evilH7451 that we did to him! 16And they sent a messenger to JosephH3130, sayingH559, Thy fatherH1 commandedH6680 before he died, sayingH559, 17ThusH3541 shall ye speakH1696 to JosephH3130: Oh forgiveH5375, I pray thee, the transgressionH6588 of thy brethren, and their sinH2403! for they did evilH7451 to thee. And nowH6258, we pray thee, forgiveH5375 the transgressionH6588 of the servantsH5650 of the 1GodH430 of thy fatherH1. And JosephH3130 weptH1058 when they spokeH1696 to him. 18And his brethren alsoH1571 went and fellH5307 downH5307 before his faceH6440, and saidH559, Behold, we are thy bondmen. 19And JosephH3130 saidH559 to them, FearH3372 not: am I then in the placeH8478 of 2GodH430? 20Ye indeed meant evilH7451 against me: 3GodH430 meant it for goodH2896, in order that he might do as [it is] this dayH3117, to save a greatH7227 peopleH5971 aliveH2421. 21And nowH6258, fearH3372 not: I will maintain you and your littleH2945 onesH2945. And he comfortedH5162 them, and spokeH1696 consolingly to them. 22And JosephH3130 dweltH3427 in EgyptH4714, he and his father's houseH1004; and JosephH3130 lived a hundredH3967 and tenH6235 yearsH8141. 23And JosephH3130 sawH7200 Ephraim's children of the thirdH8029 [generationH8029]; the sonsH1121 alsoH1571 of Machir the sonH1121 of ManassehH4519 were bornH3205 on Joseph's knees. 24And JosephH3130 saidH559 to his brethren, I dieH4191; and 4GodH430 will certainlyH4191 visitH6485 you, and bringH5927 you up out of this landH776, into the landH776 that he sworeH7650 unto AbrahamH85, to IsaacH3327, and to JacobH3290. 25And JosephH3130 took an oathH7650 of the children of IsraelH3478, sayingH559, 5GodH430 will certainly visitH6485 you; and ye shall carry up my bonesH6106 hence. 26And JosephH3130 diedH4191, a hundredH3967 and tenH6235 yearsH8141 old; and they embalmedH2590 him; and he was putH4191 in a coffin in EgyptH4714.
