Genesis 27
Darby Bible
1And it came to pass when IsaacH3327 had becomeH1961 old, and his eyesH5869 wereH1961 dim so that he could not seeH7200, that he calledH7121 EsauH6215 his elder sonH1121, and saidH559 to him, My sonH1121! And he saidH559 to him, HereH2009 amH1961 I. 2And he saidH559, Behold now, I am become oldH2204; I knowH3045 not the dayH3117 of my deathH4194. 3And nowH6258, I pray thee, takeH5375 thy weaponsH3627, thy quiver and thy bowH7198, and goH3318 out to the fieldH7704 and huntH6679 me venison, 4and prepare me a savoury dish such as I loveH157, and bringH935 it to me that I may eatH398, in orderH5668 that my soulH5315 may blessH1288 thee before I dieH4191. 5And Rebecca heardH8085 when IsaacH3327 spokeH1696 to EsauH6215 his sonH1121. And EsauH6215 wentH935 to the fieldH7704 to huntH6679 venison, to bringH935 it. 6And Rebecca spokeH1696 to JacobH3290 her sonH1121, sayingH559, Behold, I heardH8085 thy fatherH1 speakH1696 to EsauH6215 thy brotherH251, sayingH559, 7BringH935 me venison, and prepare me a savoury dish, that I may eatH398, and blessH1288 thee before Jehovah, before my deathH4194. 8And nowH6258, my sonH1121, hearken to my voiceH6963 in that which I commandH6680 thee. 9Go, I pray thee, to the flockH6629, and fetch me thence twoH8147 goodH2896 kids of the goatsH5795. And I will makeH6213 of them a savoury dish for thy fatherH1, such as he lovesH157. 10And thou shalt bringH935 [it] to thy fatherH1, that he may eatH398, in orderH5668 that he may blessH1288 thee before his deathH4194. 11And JacobH3290 saidH559 to Rebecca his motherH517, Behold, EsauH6215 my brotherH251 is a hairy manH376, and I am a smoothH2509 manH376. 12My fatherH1 perhapsH194 will feelH4959 me, and I shall beH1961 in his sight as one who mocks [him], and I shall bringH935 a curseH7045 on me, and not a blessingH1293. 13And his motherH517 saidH559 to him, On me [be] thy curseH7045, my sonH1121! OnlyH389 hearken to my voiceH6963, and go, fetch [them]. 14And he wentH935, and fetched and broughtH935 [them] to his motherH517. And his motherH517 prepared a savoury dish such as his fatherH1 lovedH157. 15And Rebecca tookH3947 the clothesH899 of her elder sonH1121 EsauH6215, the costly ones which were with her in the houseH1004, and putH3847 them on JacobH3290 her youngerH6996 sonH1121; 16and she putH3847 the skinsH5785 of the kids of the goatsH5795 on his handsH3027, and on the smooth of his neckH6677; 17and she gaveH5414 the savoury dishes and the breadH3899 that she had prepared into the handH3027 of her sonH1121 JacobH3290. 18And he cameH935 to his fatherH1, and saidH559, My fatherH1! And he saidH559, HereH2009 am I: who art thou, my sonH1121? 19And JacobH3290 saidH559 to his fatherH1, I am EsauH6215, thy firstbornH1060. I have done according as thou didst sayH559 to me. AriseH6965, I pray thee, sitH3427 and eatH398 of my venison, in orderH5668 that thy soulH5315 may blessH1288 me. 20And IsaacH3327 saidH559 to his sonH1121, HowH4100 is it that thou hast foundH4672 [it] so quicklyH4116, my sonH1121? And he saidH559, Because Jehovah thy 1GodH430 put [it] in my way. 21And IsaacH3327 saidH559 to JacobH3290, Come near, I pray thee, that I may feelH4184 thee, my sonH1121, whether thou be really my sonH1121 EsauH6215 or not. 22And JacobH3290 drewH5066 near to IsaacH3327 his fatherH1; and he feltH4959 him, and saidH559, The voiceH6963 is Jacob's voiceH6963, but the handsH3027 are the handsH3027 of EsauH6215. 23And he did not discern him, because his handsH3027 wereH1961 hairy, as his brotherH251 Esau's handsH3027; and he blessedH1288 him. 24And he saidH559, Art thou really my sonH1121 EsauH6215? And he saidH559, It is I. 25And he saidH559, BringH935 [it] near to me, that I may eatH398 of my son's venison, in order that my soulH5315 may blessH1288 thee. And he broughtH935 [it] near to him, and he ateH398; and he broughtH935 him wineH3196, and he drankH8354. 26And his fatherH1 IsaacH3327 saidH559 to him, Come near, now, and kiss me, my sonH1121. 27And he came near, and kissedH5401 him. And he smelt the smellH7306 of his clothesH899, and blessedH1288 him, and saidH559, SeeH7200, the smellH7306 of my sonH1121 is as the smellH7306 of a fieldH7704 which Jehovah hath blessedH1288. 28And 2GodH430 giveH5414 thee of the dewH2919 of heavenH8064, And of the fatness of the earthH776, And plenty of corn and newH8492 wineH8492. 29Let peoplesH5971 serveH5647 thee, And races bowH7812 downH7812 to thee. Be lordH1376 over thy brethren, And let thy mother's sonsH1121 bowH7812 downH7812 to thee. CursedH779 be they that curseH779 thee, And blessedH1288 be they that blessH1288 thee. 30And it cameH935 to pass when IsaacH3327 had endedH3615 blessingH1288 JacobH3290, and when JacobH3290 wasH1961 onlyH389 just goneH3318 out from IsaacH3327 his fatherH1, that EsauH6215 his brotherH251 cameH935 from his hunting. 31And he alsoH1571 had prepared savoury dishes, and he broughtH935 [them] in to his fatherH1, and saidH559 to his fatherH1, Let my fatherH1 ariseH6965 and eatH398 of his son's venison, in orderH5668 that thy soulH5315 may blessH1288 me. 32And IsaacH3327 his fatherH1 saidH559 to him, Who art thou? And he saidH559, I am thy sonH1121, thy firstbornH1060, EsauH6215. 33Then IsaacH3327 trembledH2729 with exceeding greatH1419 tremblingH2729, and saidH559, Who wasH1961 he, then, that huntedH6679 venison and broughtH935 [it] to me? And I have eatenH398 of all before thou camest, and have blessedH1288 him; alsoH1571 blessedH1288 he shall beH1961. 34When EsauH6215 heardH8085 the wordsH1697 of his fatherH1, he criedH6817 with a greatH1419 and exceeding bitterH4751 cryH6818, and saidH559 to his fatherH1, BlessH1288 me — me alsoH1571, my fatherH1! 35And he saidH559, Thy brotherH251 cameH935 with subtilty, and has takenH3947 awayH3947 thy blessingH1293. 36And he saidH559, Is it not thereforeH6258 he was namedH8034 JacobH3290, for he has supplanted me nowH6258 twice? He tookH3947 awayH3947 my birthrightH1062, and behold, nowH6258 he has takenH3947 awayH3947 my blessingH1293. And he saidH559, Hast thou not reserved a blessingH1293 for me? 37And IsaacH3327 answered and saidH559 to EsauH6215, Behold, I have madeH6213 him lordH1376 over thee, and all his brethren have I givenH5414 to him for servantsH5650, and with corn and newH8492 wineH8492 have I supplied him — and what can I do now for thee, my sonH1121? 38And EsauH6215 saidH559 to his fatherH1, Hast thou then but oneH259 blessingH1293, my fatherH1? blessH1288 me — me alsoH1571, my fatherH1! And EsauH6215 liftedH5375 up his voiceH6963 and weptH1058. 39And IsaacH3327 his fatherH1 answered and saidH559 to him, Behold, thy dwellingH4186 shall beH1961 of the fatness of the earthH776, And of the dewH2919 of heavenH8064 from above; 40And by thy swordH2719 shalt thou liveH2421; And thou shalt serveH5647 thy brotherH251; And it shall come to pass when thou rovest about, That thou shalt break his yokeH5923 from off thy neckH6677. 41And EsauH6215 hated JacobH3290 because of the blessingH1293 with which his fatherH1 had blessedH1288 him. And EsauH6215 saidH559 in his heartH3820, The daysH3117 of mourningH60 for my fatherH1 are at hand, and I will slayH2026 my brotherH251 JacobH3290. 42And the wordsH1697 of EsauH6215 her elder sonH1121 were toldH5046 to Rebecca. And she sentH7971 and calledH7121 JacobH3290 her youngerH6996 sonH1121, and saidH559 to him, Behold, thy brotherH251 EsauH6215, as touching thee, comfortsH5162 himself that he will killH2026 thee. 43And nowH6258, my sonH1121, hearken to my voiceH6963, and ariseH6965, fleeH1272 to LabanH3837 my brotherH251, to HaranH2771; 44and abide with him some daysH3117, until thy brother's fury turnH7725 awayH7725 — 45until thy brother's angerH639 turnH7725 awayH7971 from thee, and he forgetH7911 what thou hast done to him; then I will sendH7971 and fetch thee thence. WhyH4100 should I be bereavedH7921 even of you both in oneH259 dayH3117? 46And Rebecca saidH559 to IsaacH3327, I am weary of my lifeH2416 because of the daughtersH1323 of HethH2845. If JacobH3290 takeH3947 a wifeH802 of the daughtersH1323 of HethH2845, such as these, of the daughtersH1323 of the landH776, what good should my lifeH2416 do me?
