Genesis 29
Darby Bible
1And JacobH3290 continued his journey, and went into the landH776 of the children of the eastH6924. 2And he lookedH7200, and behold, there was a wellH875 in the fieldsH7704, and behold there, threeH7969 flocksH6629 of sheepH6629 were lyingH7257 by it; for out of that wellH875 they wateredH8248 the flocksH6629, and a greatH1419 stoneH68 was at the mouthH6310 of the wellH875. 3And when all the flocksH6629 were gatheredH622 there, they rolledH1556 the stoneH68 from the mouthH6310 of the wellH875, and wateredH8248 the sheepH6629, and put the stoneH68 again on the mouthH6310 of the wellH875 in its placeH4725. 4And JacobH3290 saidH559 to them, My brethren, whence are ye? And they saidH559, Of HaranH2771 are we. 5And he saidH559 to them, Do ye knowH3045 LabanH3837 the sonH1121 of NahorH5152? And they saidH559, We do knowH3045 [him]. 6And he saidH559 to them, Is he well? And they saidH559, [He is] well; and behold, there comesH935 RachelH7354 his daughterH1323 with the sheepH6629. 7And he saidH559, Behold, it is yetH5750 high dayH3117; it is not timeH6256 that the cattle should be gatheredH622 together; waterH8248 the sheepH6629, and go, feedH7462 [them]. 8And they saidH559, We cannot until all the flocksH6629 are gatheredH622 together, and they rollH1556 the stoneH68 from the mouthH6310 of the wellH875, and we waterH8248 the sheepH6629. 9While he was stillH5750 speakingH1696 to them, RachelH7354 cameH935 with her father's sheepH6629, for she was a shepherdess. 10And it came to pass when JacobH3290 sawH7200 RachelH7354 the daughterH1323 of LabanH3837 his mother's brotherH251, and the sheepH6629 of LabanH3837 his mother's brotherH251, that JacobH3290 went near, and rolledH1556 the stoneH68 from the mouthH6310 of the wellH875, and wateredH8248 the sheepH6629 of LabanH3837 his mother's brotherH251. 11And JacobH3290 kissedH5401 RachelH7354, and liftedH5375 up his voiceH6963 and weptH1058. 12And JacobH3290 toldH5046 RachelH7354 that he was a brotherH251 of her fatherH1, and that he was Rebecca's sonH1121; and she ranH7323 and toldH5046 her fatherH1. 13And it cameH935 to pass when LabanH3837 heardH8085 the tidings of JacobH3290 his sister's sonH1121, that he ranH7323 to meet him, and embracedH2263 him, and kissedH5401 him, and broughtH935 him to his houseH1004; and he told LabanH3837 all these thingsH1697. 14And LabanH3837 saidH559 to him, Thou art indeed my boneH6106 and my fleshH1320. And he abode with him a month's time. 15And LabanH3837 saidH559 to JacobH3290, Because thou art my brotherH251, shouldest thou serveH5647 me for nothingH2600? tellH5046 me, what shall be thy wagesH4909? 16And LabanH3837 had twoH8147 daughtersH1323: the nameH8034 of the elder was LeahH3812, and the nameH8034 of the youngerH6996, RachelH7354. 17And the eyesH5869 of LeahH3812 wereH1961 tenderH7390; but RachelH7354 wasH1961 of beautifulH3303 formH8389 and beautifulH3303 countenance. 18And JacobH3290 lovedH157 RachelH7354, and saidH559, I will serveH5647 thee sevenH7651 yearsH8141 for RachelH7354 thy youngerH6996 daughterH1323. 19And LabanH3837 saidH559, It is betterH2896 that I giveH5414 her to thee than that I should giveH5414 her to another manH376: abide with me. 20And JacobH3290 servedH5647 sevenH7651 yearsH8141 for RachelH7354; and they wereH1961 in his eyesH5869 as single daysH3117, because he lovedH157 her. 21And JacobH3290 saidH559 to LabanH3837, GiveH3051 [me] my wifeH802, for my daysH3117 are fulfilled, that I may goH935 in to her. 22And LabanH3837 gatheredH622 together all the menH376 of the placeH4725, and madeH6213 a feastH4960. 23And it cameH935 to pass in the eveningH6153, that he tookH3947 LeahH3812 his daughterH1323, and broughtH935 her to him; and he wentH935 in to her. 24And LabanH3837 gaveH5414 to her ZilpahH2153, his maidservantH8198, to be maidservantH8198 to LeahH3812 his daughterH1323. 25And it came to pass in the morningH1242, that behold, it wasH1961 LeahH3812. And he saidH559 to LabanH3837, What is this thou hast done to me? Have I not servedH5647 thee for RachelH7354? WhyH4100 then hast thou deceived me? 26And LabanH3837 saidH559, It is not soH3651 done in our placeH4725, to giveH5414 the youngerH6810 before the firstbornH1067. 27Fulfil the weekH7620 [with] this oneH834: then we will giveH5414 thee the otherH312 oneH834 alsoH1571, for the serviceH5656 that thou shalt serveH5647 me yetH5750 sevenH7651 otherH312 yearsH8141. 28And JacobH3290 did soH3651, and fulfilled the weekH7620 [with] this one, and he gaveH5414 him RachelH7354 his daughterH1323 to be his wifeH802. 29And LabanH3837 gaveH5414 to RachelH7354 his daughterH1323, BilhahH1090, his maidservantH8198, to be her maidservantH8198. 30And he wentH935 in alsoH1571 to RachelH7354; and he lovedH157 alsoH1571 RachelH7354 more than LeahH3812. And he servedH5647 with him yetH5750 sevenH7651 otherH312 yearsH8141. 31And when Jehovah sawH7200 that LeahH3812 was hatedH8130, he openedH6605 her wombH7358; but RachelH7354 was barrenH6135. 32And LeahH3812 conceivedH2029, and boreH3205 a sonH1121, and calledH7121 his nameH8034 ReubenH7205; for she saidH559, Because Jehovah has lookedH7200 upon my affliction; for nowH6258 my husbandH376 will loveH157 me. 33And she againH5750 conceivedH2029, and boreH3205 a sonH1121, and saidH559, Because Jehovah has heardH8085 that I am hatedH8130, he has therefore givenH5414 me this oneH2088 alsoH1571; and she calledH7121 his nameH8034 SimeonH8095. 34And she againH5750 conceivedH2029, and boreH3205 a sonH1121, and saidH559, NowH6258 this timeH6471 will my husbandH376 be united to me, for I have borneH3205 him threeH7969 sonsH1121; thereforeH3651 was his nameH8034 calledH7121 LeviH3878. 35And she againH5750 conceivedH2029, and boreH3205 a sonH1121, and saidH559, This timeH6471 will I praiseH3034 Jehovah; thereforeH3651 she calledH7121 his nameH8034 JudahH3063. And she ceased to bearH3205.
