Genesis 30

Darby Bible

1And when RachelH7354 sawH7200 that she boreH3205 JacobH3290 no children, RachelH7354 envied her sisterH269, and saidH559 to JacobH3290, GiveH3051 me children, or else I dieH4191. 2And Jacob's angerH639 was kindled against RachelH7354, and he saidH559, Am I in 1God's stead, who has withheldH4513 from thee the fruitH6529 of the wombH990? 3And she saidH559, Behold, there is my maid, BilhahH1090: goH935 in to her, in order that she may bearH3205 on my knees, and I may alsoH1571 be builtH1129 up by her. 4And she gaveH5414 him BilhahH1090 her maidservantH8198 as wifeH802, and JacobH3290 wentH935 in to her. 5And BilhahH1090 conceivedH2029, and boreH3205 JacobH3290 a sonH1121. 6And RachelH7354 saidH559, 2GodH430 has done me justice, and has alsoH1571 heardH8085 my voiceH6963, and givenH5414 me a sonH1121; thereforeH3651 she calledH7121 his nameH8034 DanH1835. 7And BilhahH1090 Rachel's maidservantH8198 againH5750 conceivedH2029, and boreH3205 JacobH3290 a secondH8145 sonH1121. 8And RachelH7354 saidH559, Wrestlings of 3GodH430 have I wrestled with my sisterH269, and have prevailedH3201; and she calledH7121 his nameH8034 NaphtaliH5321. 9And when LeahH3812 sawH7200 that she had ceased to bearH3205, she tookH3947 ZilpahH2153 her maidservantH8198 and gaveH5414 her to JacobH3290 as wifeH802. 10And ZilpahH2153 Leah's maidservantH8198 boreH3205 JacobH3290 a sonH1121. 11And LeahH3812 saidH559, Fortunately! and she calledH7121 his nameH8034 GadH1410. 12And ZilpahH2153 Leah's maidservantH8198 boreH3205 JacobH3290 a secondH8145 sonH1121. 13And LeahH3812 saidH559, Happy am I; for the daughtersH1323 will callH7121 me blessed! and she calledH7121 his nameH8034 AsherH836. 14And ReubenH7205 wentH935 out in the daysH3117 of wheat-harvest, and foundH4672 mandrakes in the fieldsH7704; and he broughtH935 them to his motherH517 LeahH3812. And RachelH7354 saidH559 to LeahH3812, GiveH5414 me, I pray thee, of thy son's mandrakes. 15And she saidH559 to her, Is it [too] littleH4592 that thou hast takenH3947 my husbandH376, that thou wilt takeH3947 my son's mandrakes alsoH1571? And RachelH7354 saidH559, ThereforeH3651 he shall lieH7901 with thee to-night for thy son's mandrakes. 16And when JacobH3290 cameH935 from the fieldsH7704 in the eveningH6153, LeahH3812 wentH3318 out to meet him, and saidH559, Thou must comeH935 in to me, for indeed I have hiredH7936 thee with my son's mandrakes. And he layH7901 with her that nightH3915. 17And 4GodH430 hearkened to LeahH3812, and she conceivedH2029, and boreH3205 JacobH3290 a fifthH2549 sonH1121. 18And LeahH3812 saidH559, 5GodH430 has givenH5414 me my hireH7939, because I have givenH5414 my maidservantH8198 to my husbandH376; and she calledH7121 his nameH8034 IssacharH3485. 19And LeahH3812 againH5750 conceivedH2029, and boreH3205 JacobH3290 a sixthH8345 sonH1121; 20and LeahH3812 saidH559, 6GodH430 has endowed me with a goodH2896 dowry; this timeH6471 will my husbandH376 dwell with me, because I have borneH3205 him sixH8337 sonsH1121. And she calledH7121 his nameH8034 ZebulunH2074. 21And afterwards she boreH3205 a daughterH1323, and calledH7121 her nameH8034 DinahH1783. 22And 7GodH430 rememberedH2142 RachelH7354, and 8GodH430 listenedH8085 to her, and openedH6605 her wombH7358. 23And she conceivedH2029, and boreH3205 a sonH1121, and saidH559, 9GodH430 has taken away my reproachH2781. 24And she calledH7121 his nameH8034 JosephH3130; and saidH559, Jehovah will addH3254 to me another sonH1121. 25And it came to pass when RachelH7354 had borneH3205 JosephH3130, that JacobH3290 saidH559 to LabanH3837, SendH7971 me awayH7971, that I may goH7971 to my placeH4725 and to my country. 26GiveH5414 [me] my wivesH802 for whom I have servedH5647 thee, and my childrenH3206; that I may go away, for thou knowest my serviceH5656 which I have servedH5647 thee. 27And LabanH3837 saidH559 to him, I pray thee, if I have foundH4672 favour in thine eyesH5869 — I have discovered that Jehovah has blessedH1288 me for thy sake. 28And he saidH559, Appoint to me thy wagesH7939, and I will giveH5414 it. 29And he saidH559 to him, Thou knowest how I have servedH5647 thee, and what thy cattle has becomeH1961 with me. 30For it wasH1961 littleH4592 that thou hadst before me, and it is increased to a multitudeH7230, and Jehovah has blessedH1288 thee from the time I came; and nowH6258, when shall I alsoH1571 provide for my houseH1004? 31And he saidH559, What shall I giveH5414 thee? And JacobH3290 saidH559, Thou shalt not giveH5414 me anythingH1697. If thou doest this for me, I will again feedH7462 [and] keepH8104 thy flockH6629: 32I will passH5674 through all thy flockH6629 to-day, to removeH5493 thence all the speckled and spotted sheepH6629, and all the brown lambsH3775, and the spotted and speckled among the goatsH5795; and [that] shall beH1961 my hireH7939. 33And my righteousnessH6666 shall answerH6030 for me hereafter, when thou comest about my hireH7939, before thy faceH6440: all that is not speckled and spotted among the goatsH5795, and brown among the lambsH3775, let that be stolenH1589 with me. 34And LabanH3837 saidH559, Well, let it beH1961 according to thy wordH1697. 35And he removedH5493 that dayH3117 the he-goats that were ringstraked and spotted, and all the she-goats that were speckled and spotted, every one that had whiteH3836 in it, and all the brown among the lambsH3775, and gaveH5414 [them] into the handH3027 of his sonsH1121. 36And he putH7760 threeH7969 days' journeyH1870 between himself and JacobH3290. And JacobH3290 fed the rest of Laban's flockH6629. 37And JacobH3290 tookH3947 freshH3892 rods of whiteH3836 poplarH3839, almond-tree, and maple; and peeled off whiteH3836 stripes in them, uncovering the whiteH3836 which was on the rods. 38And he set the rods which he had peeled before the flockH6629, in the troughs at the watering-places whereH834 the flockH6629 cameH935 to drinkH8354, and they were ardent whenH834 they cameH935 to drinkH8354. 39And the flockH6629 was ardent before the rods; and the flockH6629 broughtH3205 forthH3205 ringstraked, speckled, and spotted. 40And JacobH3290 separatedH6504 the lambsH3775, and setH5414 the facesH6440 of the flockH6629 toward the ringstraked, and all the brown in the flockH6629 of LabanH3837; and he madeH5414 himself separateH6504 flocksH6629, and did not putH5414 them with Laban's flockH6629. 41And it came to pass whensoever the strong cattle wereH1961 ardent, that JacobH3290 laid the rods before the eyesH5869 of the flockH6629 in the gutters, that they might becomeH1961 ardent among the rods; 42but when the sheepH6629 wereH1961 feeble, he putH7760 [them] not in; so the feeble wereH1961 Laban's, and the strong Jacob's. 43And the manH376 increased veryH3966, veryH3966 muchH7227, and had muchH7227 cattle, and bondwomen, and bondmen, and camelsH1581, and asses.
