Genesis 18
Darby Bible
1And Jehovah appearedH7200 to him by the oaks of MamreH4471. And he satH3427 at the tent-door in the heatH2527 of the dayH3117. 2And he liftedH5375 up his eyesH5869 and sawH7200, and behold, threeH7969 menH376 standingH5324 near him. And when he sawH7200 [them], he ranH7323 to meet them from the tent-door, and bowedH7812 himself to the earthH776, 3and saidH559, LordH113, if now I have foundH4672 favour in thine eyesH5869, passH5674 not awayH5674, I pray thee, from thy servantH5650. 4Let now a littleH4592 waterH4325 be fetched, that ye may washH7364 your feetH7272, and rest yourselves under the treeH6086. 5And I will fetch a morselH6595 of breadH3899; and refresh yourselves; after that ye shall passH5674 on; for thereforeH3651 have ye passedH5674 on towards your servantH5650. And they saidH559, SoH3651 do as thou hast saidH559. 6And AbrahamH85 hastenedH4116 into the tentH168 to SarahH8283, and saidH559, KneadH3888 quicklyH4116 threeH7969 seahsH5429 of wheaten flourH5560, and makeH6213 cakesH5692. 7And AbrahamH85 ranH7323 to the herdH1241, and tookH3947 a calf tenderH7390 and goodH2896, and gaveH5414 [it] to the attendant; and he hasted to dress it. 8And he tookH3947 thick and sweet milkH2461, and the calf that he had dressed, and setH5414 [it] before them; and he stoodH5975 before them under the treeH6086, and they ateH398. 9And they saidH559 to him, WhereH346 is SarahH8283 thy wifeH802? And he saidH559, Behold, in the tentH168. 10And he saidH559, I will certainly returnH7725 to thee at [this] timeH6256 of the year, and behold, SarahH8283 thy wifeH802 shall have a sonH1121. And SarahH8283 was listeningH8085 at the tent-door, which was behind him. 11Now AbrahamH85 and SarahH8283 wereH1961 oldH2205 [and] advanced in age: it had ceasedH2308 to beH1961 with SarahH8283 after the manner of womenH802. 12And SarahH8283 laughedH6711 within herself, sayingH559, After I amH1961 becomeH1961 oldH2204, shall I have pleasure, and my lordH113 oldH2204? 13And Jehovah saidH559 to AbrahamH85, WhyH4100 is this, that SarahH8283 laughs, sayingH559, Shall I indeedH637 bearH3205, when I am become oldH2204? 14Is [any] matterH1697 tooH6381 wonderfulH6381 for Jehovah? At the timeH6256 appointedH4150 I will returnH7725 to thee, at [this] timeH6256 of the year, and SarahH8283 shall have a sonH1121. 15And SarahH8283 deniedH3584, sayingH559, I did not laughH6711; for she was afraidH3372. And he saidH559, No; but thou didst laughH6711. 16And the menH376 roseH6965 up thence, and lookedH8259 toward SodomH5467; and AbrahamH85 wentH1980 with them to conduct them. 17And Jehovah saidH559, Shall I hide from AbrahamH85 what I am doing? 18Since AbrahamH85 shall indeed becomeH1961 a greatH1419 and mightyH6099 nationH1471; and all the nationsH1471 of the earthH776 shall beH1961 blessedH1288 in him. 19For I knowH3045 him that he will commandH6680 his children and his householdH1004 after him, and they shall keepH8104 the wayH1870 of Jehovah, to do righteousnessH6666 and justiceH4941, in order that Jehovah may bringH935 upon AbrahamH85 what he hath spokenH1696 of him. 20And Jehovah saidH559, Because the cryH2201 of SodomH5467 and GomorrahH6017 is great and their sinH2403 is veryH3966 grievous, 21I will goH935 down now, and seeH7200 whether they have done altogether according to the cryH6818 of it, which is comeH935 to me; and if not, I will knowH3045 [it]. 22And the menH376 turnedH6437 thence, and went towards SodomH5467; and AbrahamH85 remainedH5975 yetH5750 standingH5975 before Jehovah. 23And AbrahamH85 drewH5066 near, and saidH559, Wilt thou alsoH637 cause the righteousH6662 to perish with the wickedH7563? 24There are perhapsH194 fiftyH2572 righteousH6662 within the cityH5892: wilt thou alsoH637 destroy and not forgiveH5375 the placeH4725 for the sakeH4616 of the fiftyH2572 righteousH6662 that are therein? 25FarH2486 beH1961 it from thee to do so, to slay the righteousH6662 with the wickedH7563, that the righteousH6662 should beH1961 as the wickedH7563 — farH2486 beH1961 it from thee! Will not the JudgeH8199 of all the earthH776 do rightH4941? 26And Jehovah saidH559, If I findH4672 at SodomH5467 fiftyH2572 righteousH6662 within the cityH5892, then I will forgiveH5375 all the placeH4725 for their sakes. 27And AbrahamH85 answered and saidH559, Behold now, I have ventured to speakH1696 unto the LordH136; I, who am dustH6083 and ashesH665. 28PerhapsH194 there may want fiveH2568 of the fiftyH2572 righteousH6662: wilt thou destroyH7843 all the cityH5892 on account of the fiveH2568? And he saidH559, If I shall findH4672 forty-fiveH705 there, I will not destroyH7843 [it]. 29And he continued yetH5750 to speakH1696 with him, and saidH559, PerhapsH194 there may be fortyH705 foundH4672 there. And he saidH559, I will not do it for the forty's sakeH5668. 30And he saidH559, Oh, let not the LordH136 be angryH2734 that I speakH1696! PerhapsH194 there may be thirtyH7970 foundH4672 there. And he saidH559, I will not do it if I findH4672 thirtyH7970 there. 31And he saidH559, Behold now, I have ventured to speakH1696 with the LordH136. PerhapsH194 there may be twentyH6242 foundH4672 there. And he saidH559, I will not destroyH7843 [it] for the twenty's sakeH5668. 32And he saidH559, Oh, let not the LordH136 be angryH2734, that I speakH1696 yet but this timeH6471! PerhapsH194 there may be tenH6235 foundH4672 there. And he saidH559, I will not destroyH7843 [it] for the ten's sakeH5668. 33And Jehovah wentH7725 awayH7725 whenH834 he had endedH3615 speakingH1696 to AbrahamH85; and AbrahamH85 returnedH7725 to his placeH4725.
