Genesis 25
Darby Bible
1And AbrahamH85 tookH3947 another wifeH802 namedH8034 KeturahH6989. 2And she boreH3205 him ZimranH2175, and JokshanH3370, and MedanH4091, and MidianH4080, and IshbakH3435, and ShuahH7744. 3And JokshanH3370 begot ShebaH7614 and DedanH1719; and the sonsH1121 of DedanH1719 wereH1961 the Asshurim, and the Letushim, and the Leummim. 4And the sonsH1121 of MidianH4080 were EphahH5891, and EpherH6081, and EnochH2585, and AbidaH28, and EldaahH420. All these were sonsH1121 of KeturahH6989. 5And AbrahamH85 gaveH5414 all that he had to IsaacH3327. 6And to the sonsH1121 of the concubinesH6370 that AbrahamH85 had, AbrahamH85 gaveH5414 giftsH4979, and, while he yetH5750 lived, sentH7971 them awayH7971 from IsaacH3327 his sonH1121, eastward to the eastH6924 country. 7And these are the daysH3117 of the yearsH8141 of Abraham's life which he lived: a hundredH3967 and seventy-fiveH7657 yearsH8141. 8And AbrahamH85 expired and diedH4191 in a goodH2896 oldH2205 ageH7872, oldH2205 and full [of days]; and was gatheredH622 to his peoplesH5971. 9And his sonsH1121 IsaacH3327 and IshmaelH3458 buriedH6912 him in the caveH4631 of MachpelahH4375, in the fieldH7704 of EphronH6085 the sonH1121 of ZoharH6714 the HittiteH2850, which was opposite to MamreH4471 — 10the fieldH7704 that AbrahamH85 had purchased of the sonsH1121 of HethH2845: there was AbrahamH85 buriedH6912, and SarahH8283 his wifeH802. 11And it came to pass after the deathH4194 of AbrahamH85, that 1GodH430 blessedH1288 his sonH1121 IsaacH3327. And IsaacH3327 dweltH3427 at Beer-lahai-roiH883. 12And these are the generationsH8435 of IshmaelH3458, Abraham's sonH1121, whom HagarH1904 the EgyptianH4713, Sarah's bondwoman, boreH3205 to AbrahamH85. 13And these are the namesH8034 of the sonsH1121 of IshmaelH3458 by their namesH8034 according to their generationsH8435: NebaiothH5032, the firstbornH1060 of IshmaelH3458; and KedarH6938, and AdbeelH110, and MibsamH4017, 14and MishmaH4927, and DumahH1746, and MassaH4854, 15HadadH2301 and TemaH8485, JeturH3195, NaphishH5305 and Kedmah. 16These are the sonsH1121 of IshmaelH3458, and these are their namesH8034, in their hamlets and their encampmentsH2918 — twelve princesH5387 of their peoples. 17And these are the yearsH8141 of the lifeH2416 of IshmaelH3458: a hundredH3967 and thirty-seven yearsH8141; and he expired and diedH4191, and was gatheredH622 to his peoplesH5971. 18And they dweltH7931 from HavilahH2341 to ShurH7793, which is opposite to EgyptH4714, as one goesH935 towards AssyriaH804. He settledH7931 before the faceH6440 of all his brethren. 19And these are the generationsH8435 of IsaacH3327, Abraham's sonH1121. AbrahamH85 begot IsaacH3327. 20And IsaacH3327 wasH1961 fortyH705 yearsH8141 old when he tookH3947 Rebecca as wifeH802, the daughterH1323 of BethuelH1328 the Syrian of Padan-Aram, the sisterH269 of LabanH3837 the Syrian. 21And IsaacH3327 entreatedH6279 Jehovah for his wifeH802, because she was barrenH6135; and Jehovah was entreatedH6279 of him, and Rebecca his wifeH802 conceivedH2029. 22And the children struggled together within her; and she saidH559, If [it be] soH3651, whyH4100 am I thusH3651? And she went to inquire of Jehovah. 23And Jehovah saidH559 to her, TwoH8147 nationsH1471 are in thy wombH990, And twoH8147 peoplesH3816 shall be separatedH6504 from thy bowelsH4578; And one people shall be strongerH553 than the other people, And the elder shall serveH5647 the youngerH6810. 24And when her daysH3117 to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twinsH8380 in her wombH990. 25And the firstH7223 cameH3318 out redH132 — all over like a hairy garment; and they calledH7121 his nameH8034 EsauH6215. 26And after that cameH3318 his brotherH251 out; and his handH3027 took holdH270 of Esau's heelH6119; and his nameH8034 was calledH7121 JacobH3290. And IsaacH3327 was sixtyH8346 yearsH8141 old when they were bornH3205. 27And the boys grewH1431, and EsauH6215 becameH1961 a manH376 skilled in hunting, a manH376 of the fieldH7704; and JacobH3290 wasH1961 a homely manH376, dwellingH3427 in tentsH168. 28And IsaacH3327 lovedH157 EsauH6215, because venison was to his taste; and Rebecca lovedH157 JacobH3290. 29And JacobH3290 had cooked a dish; and EsauH6215 cameH935 from the fieldH7704, and he was faint. 30And EsauH6215 saidH559 to JacobH3290, Feed me, I pray thee, with the redH122 — the redH122 thing there, for I am faint. ThereforeH3651 was his nameH8034 calledH7121 EdomH123. 31And JacobH3290 saidH559, SellH4376 me now thy birthrightH1062. 32And EsauH6215 saidH559, Behold, I am goingH1980 to dieH4191, and of what use can the birthrightH1062 be to me? 33And JacobH3290 saidH559, SwearH7650 unto me now. And he sworeH7650 unto him, and soldH4376 his birthrightH1062 to JacobH3290. 34And JacobH3290 gaveH5414 EsauH6215 breadH3899 and the dish of lentilsH5742; and he ateH398 and drankH8354, and roseH6965 up and went away. Thus EsauH6215 despisedH959 the birthrightH1062.
