Genesis 4
1And the manH376 knewH3045 EveH2332 his wifeH802; and she conceivedH2029, and bare CainH7014, and saidH559, I have gotten a manH376 with the help of Jehovah. 2And again she bare his brotherH251 AbelH1893. And AbelH1893 wasH1961 a keeper of sheepH6629, but CainH7014 wasH1961 a tiller of the groundH127. 3And in process of time it cameH935 to pass, that CainH7014 broughtH935 of the fruitH6529 of the groundH127 an offeringH4503 unto Jehovah. 4And AbelH1893, he alsoH1571 broughtH935 of the firstlings of his flockH6629 and of the fatH2459 thereof. And Jehovah had respect unto AbelH1893 and to his offeringH4503: 5but unto CainH7014 and to his offeringH4503 he had not respect. And CainH7014 was veryH3966 wroth, and his countenance fellH5307. 6And Jehovah saidH559 unto CainH7014, WhyH4100 art thou wroth? and whyH4100 is thy countenance fallenH5307? 7If thou doest wellH3190, shall it not be lifted up? and if thou doest not wellH3190, sinH2403 coucheth at the doorH6607; and unto thee shall be its desireH8669; but do thou ruleH4910 over it. 8And CainH7014 told AbelH1893 his brotherH251. And it came to pass, when they wereH1961 in the fieldH7704, that CainH7014 roseH6965 up against AbelH1893 his brotherH251, and slewH2026 him.
9And Jehovah saidH559 unto CainH7014, WhereH335 is AbelH1893 thy brotherH251? And he saidH559, I knowH3045 not: am I my brother’sH251 keeperH8104? 10And he saidH559, What hast thou done? the voiceH6963 of thy brother’sH251 bloodH1818 crieth unto me from the groundH127. 11And nowH6258 cursedH779 art thou from the groundH127, which hath openedH6475 its mouthH6310 to receiveH3947 thy brother’sH251 bloodH1818 from thy handH3027; 12when thou tillest the groundH776, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee its strengthH3581; a fugitive and a wanderer shalt thou beH1961 in the earthH776. 13And CainH7014 saidH559 unto Jehovah, My punishmentH5771 is greaterH1419 than I can bearH5375. 14Behold, thou hast drivenH1644 me out this dayH3117 from the faceH6440 of the groundH776; and from thy faceH6440 shall I beH1961 hidH5641; and I shall beH1961 a fugitive and a wanderer in the earthH776; and it will come to pass, that whosoever findeth me will slayH2026 me. 15And Jehovah saidH559 unto him, ThereforeH3651 whosoever slayeth CainH7014, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfoldH7659. And Jehovah appointedH7760 a signH226 for CainH7014, lest any findingH4672 him should smite him.
16And CainH7014 wentH3318 out from the presenceH6440 of Jehovah, and dweltH3427 in the landH776 of Nod, on the eastH6926 of EdenH5731. 17And CainH7014 knewH3045 his wifeH802; and she conceivedH2029, and bare EnochH2585: and he builded a cityH5892, and calledH7121 the nameH8034 of the cityH5892, after the nameH8034 of his sonH1121, EnochH2585. 18And unto EnochH2585 was bornH3205 IradH5897: and IradH5897 begat MehujaelH4232; and MehujaelH4232 begat MethushaelH4967; and MethushaelH4967 begat LamechH3929. 19And LamechH3929 tookH3947 unto him twoH8147 wivesH802: the nameH8034 of the oneH259 was AdahH5711, and the nameH8034 of the other ZillahH6741. 20And AdahH5711 bare Jabal: he wasH1961 the fatherH1 of such as dwellH3427 in tentsH168 and have cattle. 21And his brother’sH251 nameH8034 was Jubal: he was the fatherH1 of all such as handle the harpH3658 and pipe. 22And ZillahH6741, she alsoH1571 bare Tubal-cainH8423, the forger of every cutting instrument of brass and ironH1270: and the sisterH269 of Tubal-cainH8423 was NaamahH5279. 23And LamechH3929 saidH559 unto his wivesH802:
25And AdamH121 knewH3045 his wifeH802 againH5750; and she bare a sonH1121, and calledH7121 his nameH8034 SethH8352: For, said she, GodH430 hath appointedH7896 me another seedH2233 instead of AbelH1893; for CainH7014 slewH2026 him. 26And to SethH8352, to him alsoH1571 there was bornH3205 a sonH1121; and he calledH7121 his nameH8034 EnoshH583. ThenH227 beganH2490 men to callH7121 upon the nameH8034 of Jehovah.
