Genesis 50
American Standard Version
1And JosephH3130 fellH5307 upon his father’sH1 faceH6440, and weptH1058 upon him, and kissedH5401 him. 2And JosephH3130 commandedH6680 his servantsH5650 the physiciansH7495 to embalmH2590 his fatherH1: and the physiciansH7495 embalmedH2590 IsraelH3478. 3And fortyH705 daysH3117 were fulfilled for him; for soH3651 are fulfilled the daysH3117 of embalming: and the EgyptiansH4713 weptH1058 for him threescore and ten daysH3117.
4And when the daysH3117 of weeping for him were past, JosephH3130 spake unto the houseH1004 of PharaohH6547, sayingH559, If now I have foundH4672 favorH2580 in your eyesH5869, speakH1696, I pray you, in the earsH241 of PharaohH6547, sayingH559, 5My fatherH1 madeH7650 me swearH7650, sayingH559, Lo, I dieH4191: in my graveH6913 which I have digged for me in the landH776 of CanaanH3667, there shalt thou buryH6912 me. NowH6258 thereforeH6258 let me goH5927 up, I pray thee, and buryH6912 my fatherH1, and I will comeH5927 again. 6And PharaohH6547 saidH559, GoH5927 up, and buryH6912 thy fatherH1, according as he madeH7650 thee swearH7650. 7And JosephH3130 wentH5927 up to buryH6912 his fatherH1; and with him wentH5927 up all the servantsH5650 of PharaohH6547, the eldersH2205 of his houseH1004, and all the eldersH2205 of the landH776 of EgyptH4714, 8and all the houseH1004 of JosephH3130, and his brethren, and his father’sH1 houseH1004: onlyH7535 their littleH2945 onesH2945, and their flocksH6629, and their herdsH1241, they leftH5800 in the landH776 of GoshenH1657. 9And there wentH5927 up with him both chariotsH7393 and horsemenH6571: and it wasH1961 a veryH3966 great company. 10And they cameH935 to the threshing-floor of AtadH329, which is beyond the JordanH3383, and there they lamentedH5594 with a veryH3966 greatH1419 and sore lamentation: and he madeH6213 a mourningH60 for his fatherH1 sevenH7651 daysH3117. 11And whenH834 the inhabitantsH3427 of the landH776, the CanaanitesH3669, sawH7200 the mourningH60 in the floorH1637 of AtadH329, they saidH559, This is a grievous mourningH60 to the EgyptiansH4713: wherefore the nameH8034 of it was calledH7121 Abel-mizraim, which is beyond the JordanH3383. 12And his sonsH1121 did unto him according as he commandedH6680 them: 13for his sonsH1121 carriedH5375 him into the landH776 of CanaanH3667, and buriedH6912 him in the caveH4631 of the fieldH7704 of MachpelahH4375, which AbrahamH85 boughtH7069 with the fieldH7704, for a possessionH272 of a burying-place, of EphronH6085 the HittiteH2850, before MamreH4471. 14And JosephH3130 returnedH7725 into EgyptH4714, he, and his brethren, and all that wentH5927 up with him to buryH6912 his fatherH1, after he had buriedH6912 his fatherH1.
15And when Joseph’s brethren sawH7200 that their fatherH1 was deadH4191, they saidH559, It may be that JosephH3130 will hate us, and will fully requite us all the evilH7451 which we did unto him. 16And they sent a message unto JosephH3130, sayingH559, Thy fatherH1 did commandH6680 before he died, sayingH559, 17So shall ye sayH559 unto JosephH3130, ForgiveH5375, I pray thee nowH6258, the transgressionH6588 of thy brethren, and their sinH2403, for that they did unto thee evilH7451. And nowH6258, we pray thee, forgiveH5375 the transgressionH6588 of the servantsH5650 of the GodH430 of thy fatherH1. And JosephH3130 weptH1058 when they spake unto him. 18And his brethren alsoH1571 went and fellH5307 downH5307 before his faceH6440; and they saidH559, Behold, we are thy servantsH5650. 19And JosephH3130 saidH559 unto them, FearH3372 not: for am I in the placeH8478 of GodH430? 20And as for you, ye meant evilH7451 against me; but GodH430 meant it for goodH2896, to bring to pass, as it is this dayH3117, to save muchH7227 peopleH5971 aliveH2421. 21NowH6258 thereforeH6258 fearH3372 ye not: I will nourish you, and your littleH2945 onesH2945. And he comfortedH5162 them, and spake kindly unto them.
22And JosephH3130 dweltH3427 in EgyptH4714, he, and his father’sH1 houseH1004: and JosephH3130 lived a hundredH3967 and tenH6235 yearsH8141. 23And JosephH3130 sawH7200 Ephraim’s children of the thirdH8029 generationH8029: the children alsoH1571 of Machir the sonH1121 of ManassehH4519 were bornH3205 upon Joseph’s knees. 24And JosephH3130 saidH559 unto his brethren, I dieH4191; but GodH430 will surely visitH6485 you, and bringH5927 you up out of this landH776 unto the landH776 which he sware to AbrahamH85, to IsaacH3327, and to JacobH3290. 25And JosephH3130 took an oathH7650 of the children of IsraelH3478, sayingH559, GodH430 will surely visitH6485 you, and ye shall carry up my bonesH6106 from hence. 26So JosephH3130 diedH4191, being a hundredH3967 and tenH6235 yearsH8141 old: and they embalmedH2590 him, and he was putH4191 in a coffin in EgyptH4714.
