1 Corinthians 7

Darby Bible

1But concerningG4012 the thingsG3739 of which ye have writtenG1125 [to me]: [It is] goodG2570 for a manG444 not to touchG681 a womanG1135; 2but on accountG1223 of fornications, let each have his ownG2398 wifeG1135, and each [womanG1135] have her ownG2398 husbandG435. 3Let the husbandG435 renderG591 her due to the wifeG1135, and in like manner the wifeG1135 to the husbandG435. 4The wifeG1135 has not authorityG1850 over her ownG2398 bodyG4983, but the husbandG435: in like manner alsoG2532 the husbandG435 has not authorityG1850 over his ownG2398 bodyG4983, but the wifeG1135. 5DefraudG650 not oneG240 another, unless, it may beG1510, by consent for a timeG2540, that ye may devote yourselves to prayerG4335, and againG3825 beG1510 together, that SatanG4567 temptG3985 you not because of your incontinency. 6But this I sayG3004, as consenting [to], not as commanding [it]. 7NowG1161 I wishG2309 all menG444 to beG1510 evenG2532 as myself: but every oneG1538 has his ownG2398 giftG5486 of 1GodG2316: oneG1538 manG444 thusG3779, and another thusG3779. 8But I sayG3004 to the unmarriedG22 and to the widowsG5503, It is goodG2570 for them that they remainG3306 evenG2532 as I. 9But if they have not control over themselves, let them marryG1060; for it isG1510 better to marryG1060 than to burnG4448. 10But to the marriedG1060 I enjoin, not I, but the LordG2962, Let not wifeG1135 be separatedG5563 from husbandG435; 11(but if alsoG2532 she shall have been separatedG5563, let her remainG3306 unmarriedG22, or be reconciled to her husbandG435;) and let not husbandG435 leaveG863 wifeG1135. 12But as to the restG3062, I sayG3004, not the LordG2962, If any brotherG80 have an unbelievingG571 wifeG1135, and she consent to dwell with him, let him not leaveG863 her. 13And a womanG1135 who has an unbelievingG571 husbandG435, and he consentsG4909 to dwell with her, let her not leaveG863 [her] husbandG435. 14For the unbelievingG571 husbandG435 isG1510 sanctifiedG37 in the wifeG1135, and the unbelievingG571 wifeG1135 isG1510 sanctifiedG37 in the brotherG80; since [otherwiseG1893] indeed your childrenG5043 areG1510 uncleanG169, but nowG1161 they areG1510 holyG40. 15But if the unbelieverG571 go away, let them go away; a brotherG80 or a sisterG79 is not bound in suchG5108 [cases], but 2GodG2316 has calledG2564 us in peaceG1515. 16For what knowest thou, O wifeG1135, if thou shalt saveG4982 thy husbandG435? or what knowest thou, O husbandG435, if thou shalt saveG4982 thy wifeG1135? 17However, as the LordG2962 has divided to each, as 3GodG2316 has calledG2564 each, so let him walkG4043; and thusG3779 I ordain in all the assemblies. 18Has any oneG5100 been calledG2564 circumcisedG4059? let him not become uncircumcised: has any oneG5100 been calledG2564 in uncircumcisionG203? let him not be circumcisedG4059. 19CircumcisionG4061 isG1510 nothing, and uncircumcisionG203 isG1510 nothing; but keeping 4God's commandmentsG1785. 20Let each abideG3306 in that callingG2821 in which he has been calledG2564. 21Hast thou been calledG2564 [being] a bondman, let it not concern thee; but and if thou canst becomeG1096 freeG1658, useG5530 [it] ratherG3123. 22For the bondman that isG1510 calledG2564 in [the] LordG2962 isG1510 the Lord's freedman; in like manner [also] the freeman beingG1510 calledG2564 isG1510 Christ's bondman. 23Ye have been boughtG59 with a priceG5092; do not be the bondmen of menG444. 24Let each, wherein he is calledG2564, brethren, therein abideG3306 with 5GodG2316. 25But concerningG4012 virginsG3933, I have no commandmentG2003 of [the] LordG2962; but I giveG1325 my opinion, as having received mercyG1653 of [the] LordG2962 to beG1510 faithfulG4103. 26I thinkG3543 thenG3767 that this isG1510 goodG2570, on accountG1223 of the presentG1764 necessityG318, that [it isG1510] goodG2570 for a manG444 to remain so as he isG1510. 27Art thou boundG1210 to a wifeG1135? seekG2212 not to be loosedG3089; art thou free from a wifeG1135? do not seekG2212 a wifeG1135. 28But if thou shouldest alsoG2532 marryG1060, thou hast not sinnedG264; and if the virginG3933 marryG1060, they have not sinnedG264: but suchG5108 shall have tribulationG2347 in the fleshG4561; but I spareG5339 you. 29But this I sayG5346, brethren, the timeG2540 isG1510 straitened. For the rest, that they who have wivesG1135, beG1510 as not having [any]: 30and they that weepG2799, as not weepingG2799; and they that rejoiceG5463, as not rejoicingG5463; and they that buyG59, as not possessing; 31and they that useG5530 the worldG2889, as not disposing of it as their own; for the fashion of this worldG2889 passes. 32But I wishG2309 you to beG1510 without care. The unmarriedG22 cares for the things of the LordG2962, howG4459 he shall pleaseG700 the LordG2962; 33but he that has marriedG1060 cares for the things of the worldG2889, howG4459 he shall pleaseG700 his wifeG1135. 34There isG1510 a difference between the wifeG1135 and the virginG3933. The unmarriedG22 cares for the things of the LordG2962, that she may beG1510 holyG40 both in bodyG4983 and spiritG4151; but she that has marriedG1060 cares for the things of the worldG2889, howG4459 she shall pleaseG700 her husbandG435. 35But I sayG3004 this for your own profit; not that I may set a snare before you, but for what [is] seemly, and waiting on the LordG2962 without distraction. 36But if any oneG5100 thinkG3543 that he behaves unseemly to his virginity, if he beG1510 beyond the flower of his age, and so it must beG1510, let him do what he will, he does not sinG264: let them marryG1060. 37But he who standsG2476 firmG2476 in his heartG2588, having no need, but has authorityG1849 over his ownG2398 will, and has judgedG2919 this in his heartG2588 to keepG5083 his ownG2398 virginity, he does wellG2573. 38So that he that marries himself does wellG2573; and he that does not marry does better. 39A wifeG1135 isG1510 boundG1210 for whatever timeG5550 her husbandG435 lives; but if the husbandG435 beG1510 fallen asleepG2837, she isG1510 freeG1658 to beG1510 marriedG1060 to whom she will, onlyG3440 in [the] LordG2962. 40But she isG1510 happier if she soG3779 remainG3306, accordingG2596 to my judgmentG1106; but I thinkG1380 that I alsoG1161 have 6God's SpiritG4151.
