1 Corinthians 7
1NowG1161 concerningG4012 the thingsG3739 whereof ye wroteG1125: It is goodG2570 for a manG444 not to touchG681 a womanG1135. 2But, because of fornications, let each manG435 have his ownG2398 wifeG1135, and let each womanG1135 have her ownG2398 husbandG435. 3Let the husbandG435 renderG591 unto the wifeG1135 her due: and likewiseG3668 alsoG2532 the wifeG1135 unto the husbandG435. 4The wifeG1135 hath not power over her ownG2398 bodyG4983, but the husbandG435: and likewiseG3668 alsoG2532 the husbandG435 hath not power over his ownG2398 bodyG4983, but the wifeG1135. 5DefraudG650 ye not oneG240 the other, except it beG1510 by consent for a seasonG2540, that ye may give yourselves unto prayerG4335, and may beG1510 together againG3825, that SatanG4567 temptG3985 you not because of your incontinency. 6But this I sayG3004 by way of concession, not of commandmentG2003. 7Yet I wouldG2309 that all menG444 wereG1510 evenG2532 as I myself. Howbeit each manG444 hath his ownG2398 giftG5486 from GodG2316, oneG1538 after this mannerG3779, and another after that.
8But I sayG3004 to the unmarriedG22 and to widowsG5503, It is goodG2570 for them if they abideG3306 evenG2532 as I. 9But if they have not continency, let them marryG1060: for it isG1510 better to marryG1060 than to burnG4448. 10But unto the marriedG1060 I give chargeG3853, yea not I, but the LordG2962, That the wifeG1135 depart not from her husbandG435 11(but should she depart, let her remainG3306 unmarriedG22, or else be reconciled to her husbandG435); and that the husbandG435 leaveG863 not his wifeG1135. 12But to the restG3062 sayG3004 I, not the LordG2962: If any brotherG80 hath an unbelievingG571 wifeG1135, and she is content to dwell with him, let him not leaveG863 her. 13And the womanG1135 that hath an unbelievingG571 husbandG435, and he is content to dwell with her, let her not leaveG863 her husbandG435. 14For the unbelievingG571 husbandG435 isG1510 sanctifiedG37 in the wifeG1135, and the unbelievingG571 wifeG1135 isG1510 sanctifiedG37 in the brotherG80: else wereG1510 your childrenG5043 uncleanG169; but nowG1161 areG1510 they holyG40. 15Yet if the unbelievingG571 departeth, let him depart: the brotherG80 or the sisterG79 is not under bondageG1402 in suchG5108 cases: but GodG2316 hath calledG2564 us in peaceG1515. 16For how knowest thou, O wifeG1135, whether thou shalt saveG4982 thy husbandG435? or how knowest thou, O husbandG435, whether thou shalt saveG4982 thy wifeG1135? 17OnlyG1487, as the LordG2962 hath distributed to each manG1538, as GodG2316 hath calledG2564 each, so let him walkG4043. And so ordain I in all the churchesG1577. 18Was any man calledG2564 being circumcisedG4059? let him not become uncircumcised. Hath any been calledG2564 in uncircumcisionG203? let him not be circumcisedG4059. 19CircumcisionG4061 isG1510 nothing, and uncircumcisionG203 isG1510 nothing; but the keeping of the commandmentsG1785 of GodG2316. 20Let each manG3778 abideG3306 in that callingG2821 wherein he was calledG2564. 21Wast thou calledG2564 being a bondservant? careG3199 not for it: nay, evenG2532 if thou canst becomeG1096 freeG1658, useG5530 it ratherG3123. 22For he that wasG1510 calledG2564 in the LordG2962 beingG1510 a bondservant, isG1510 the Lord’s freedman: likewiseG3668 he that wasG1510 calledG2564 beingG1510 freeG1658, isG1510 Christ’s bondservant. 23Ye were boughtG59 with a priceG5092; becomeG1096 not bondservants of menG444. 24Brethren, let each manG3778, wherein he was calledG2564, therein abideG3306 with GodG2316.
25NowG1161 concerningG4012 virginsG3933 I have no commandmentG2003 of the LordG2962: but I giveG1325 my judgmentG1106, as oneG3588 that hath obtained mercyG1653 of the LordG2962 to beG1510 trustworthyG4103. 26I thinkG3543 thereforeG3767 that this isG1510 goodG2570 by reason of the distressG318 that isG1510 upon us, namely, that it isG1510 goodG2570 for a manG444 to beG1510 as he isG1510. 27Art thou boundG1210 unto a wifeG1135? seekG2212 not to be loosedG3089. Art thou loosedG3089 from a wifeG1135? seekG2212 not a wifeG1135. 28But shouldest thou marryG1060, thou hast not sinnedG264; and if a virginG3933 marryG1060, she hath not sinnedG264. Yet suchG5108 shall have tribulationG2347 in the fleshG4561: and I would spareG5339 you. 29But this I sayG5346, brethren, the timeG2540 isG1510 shortened, that henceforth both those that have wivesG1135 may beG1510 as though they had none; 30and those that weepG2799, as though they weptG2799 not; and those that rejoiceG5463, as though they rejoicedG5463 not; and those that buyG59, as though they possessed not; 31and those that useG5530 the worldG2889, as not using it to the full: for the fashion of this worldG2889 passeth awayG3855. 32But I would have you to beG1510 free from cares. He that isG1510 unmarriedG22 isG1510 careful for the things of the LordG2962, howG4459 he may pleaseG700 the LordG2962: 33but he that is marriedG1060 is careful for the things of the worldG2889, howG4459 he may pleaseG700 his wifeG1135, 34and isG1510 divided. SoG2443 alsoG2532 the womanG1135 that isG1510 unmarriedG22 and the virginG3933 isG1510 careful for the things of the LordG2962, that she may beG1510 holyG40 both in bodyG4983 and in spiritG4151: but she that isG1510 marriedG1060 isG1510 careful for the things of the worldG2889, howG4459 she may pleaseG700 her husbandG435. 35And this I sayG3004 for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is seemly, and that ye may attend upon the LordG2962 without distraction. 36But if any man thinketh that he behaveth himself unseemly toward his virginG3933 daughter, if she beG1510 past the flower of her age, and if need so requireth, let him do what he will; he sinneth not; let them marryG1060. 37But he that standeth stedfast in his heartG2588, having no necessityG318, but hath powerG1849 as touching his ownG2398 will, and hath determined this in his ownG2398 heartG2588, to keepG5083 his ownG2398 virginG3933 daughter, shall do wellG2573. 38So then both he that giveth his ownG1438 virginG3933 daughter in marriage doeth wellG2573; and he that giveth her not in marriage shall do better. 39A wifeG1135 isG1510 boundG1210 for so long timeG5550 as her husbandG435 liveth; but if the husbandG435 beG1510 dead, she isG1510 freeG1658 to beG1510 marriedG1060 to whom she will; onlyG3440 in the LordG2962. 40But she isG1510 happier if she abideG3306 as she isG1510, after my judgmentG1106: and I thinkG1380 that I alsoG1161 have the SpiritG4151 of GodG2316.
