1 Corinthians 9
Darby Bible
1AmG1510 I not freeG1658? amG1510 I not an apostleG652? have I not seenG3708 JesusG2424 our LordG2962? areG1510 not ye my workG2041 in [the] LordG2962? 2If I amG1510 not an apostleG652 to othersG243, yetG235 at any rate I amG1510 to you: for the sealG4973 of mineG1473 apostleshipG651 areG1510 ye in [the] LordG2962. 3My defence to those who examine me isG1510 this: 4Have we not a rightG1849 to eatG2068 and to drinkG4095? 5have we not a rightG1849 to take round a sisterG79 [as] wifeG1135, as alsoG2532 the otherG3062 apostlesG652, and the brethren of the LordG2962, and CephasG2786? 6Or I aloneG3441 and BarnabasG921, have we not a rightG1849 not to workG2038? 7Who everG4218 carries on warG4754 at his ownG2398 charges? who plantsG5452 a vineyardG290 and does not eatG2068 of its fruitG2590? or who herds a flockG4167 and does not eatG2068 of the milkG1051 of the flockG4167? 8Do I speakG2980 these thingsG3778 as a manG444, or does not the lawG3551 alsoG2532 sayG3004 these thingsG3778? 9For in the lawG3551 of MosesG3475 it is writtenG1125, Thou shalt not muzzleG5392 the oxG1016 that is treading out corn. Is 1GodG2316 occupied about the oxenG1016, 10or does he sayG3004 [it] altogether for our sakesG1223? For for our sakes it has been writtenG1125, that the plougher should plough in hopeG1680, and he that treads out corn, in hopeG1680 of partaking of [it]. 11If we have sownG4687 to you spiritualG4152 thingsG3173, [is it a] greatG3173 [thing] if we shall reapG2325 your carnal thingsG3173? 12If othersG243 partakeG3348 of this rightG1849 over you, should not ratherG3123 we? But we have not usedG5530 this rightG1849, but we bear all thingsG3778, that we may put no hindrance in the way of the glad tidings of the ChristG5547. 13Do ye not know that they who labour [at] sacredG2413 things eatG2068 of the [offerings offered in the] temple; they that attend at the altarG2379 partake with the altarG2379? 14So alsoG2532 the LordG2962 has ordained to those that announce the glad tidings to liveG2198 of the glad tidings. 15But I have usedG5530 noneG3762 of these thingsG3778. NowG1161 I have not writtenG1125 these thingsG3778 that it should be thusG3779 in my case; for [it were] goodG2570 for me ratherG3123 to dieG599 than that any oneG3762 should make vain my boastG2745. 16For if I announce the glad tidings, I have nothing to boastG2745 of; for a necessityG318 isG1510 laid upon me; for it isG1510 woeG3759 to me if I should not announce the glad tidings. 17For if I do this voluntarily, I have a rewardG3408; but if not of my own will, I am entrustedG4100 with an administrationG3622. 18What isG1510 the rewardG3408 thenG3767 that I have? That in announcing the glad tidings I make the glad tidings costless [to others], soG2443 as not to have made use, as belonging to me, of my rightG1849 in [announcing] the glad tidings. 19For beingG1510 freeG1658 from all, I have made myself bondman to all, that I might gainG2770 the most [possible]. 20And I becameG1096 to the JewsG2453 as a JewG2453, in orderG2443 that I might gainG2770 the JewsG2453: to those under lawG3551, as under lawG3551, not beingG1510 myself under lawG3551, in orderG2443 that I might gainG2770 those under lawG3551: 21to those without lawG459, as without lawG459, (not as without lawG459 to 2GodG2316, but as legitimately subject to ChristG5547,) in orderG2443 that I might gainG2770 [those] without lawG459. 22I becameG1096 to the weakG772, [as] weakG772, in orderG2443 that I might gainG2770 the weakG772. To all I have becomeG1096 all thingsG3956, in orderG2443 that at all events I might saveG4982 some. 23And I do all thingsG3956 for the sakeG1223 of the glad tidings, that I may be fellow-partaker with them. 24Know ye not that they who runG5143 in [the] race-course runG5143 all, but oneG1520 receivesG2983 the prizeG1017? ThusG3779 runG5143 in orderG2443 that ye may obtain. 25But every oneG3588 that contends [for a prize] is temperate in all thingsG3956: they thenG3767 indeedG3303 that they may receiveG2983 a corruptible crownG4735, but we an incorruptible. 26I thereforeG5106 thusG3779 runG5143, as not uncertainly; so I combat, as not beatingG1194 the airG109. 27But I buffet my bodyG4983, and lead it captive, lestG3361 [after] having preachedG2784 to othersG243 I should be myself rejected.
