Luke 24:13-53
13And beholdG2400, 1twoG1417 of them were goingG4198 that veryG846 dayG2250 to a villageG2968 namedG3686 EmmausG1695, which was 2about sevenG1835 milesG4712 from JerusalemG2419. 14And they were talkingG3656 with eachG240 otherG240 aboutG4012 allG3956 theseG3778 thingsG3778 which had takenG4819 placeG4819. 15WhileG1722 they were talkingG3656 and discussingG4802, JesusG2424 HimselfG846 approachedG1448 and began travelingG4848 with them. 16But 3their eyesG3788 were preventedG2902 from recognizingG1921 Him. 17And He saidG3004 to them, “WhatG5101 are theseG3778 wordsG3056 that you are exchangingG474 with oneG240 anotherG240 as you are walkingG4043?” And they stoodG2476 stillG2476, lookingG4659 sadG4659. 18OneG1520 of them, namedG3686 CleopasG2810, answeredG611 and saidG3004 to Him, “Are You 4the onlyG3441 oneG3441 visitingG3939 JerusalemG2419 and unawareG3756G1097 of the things which have happenedG1096 hereG1722G846 in theseG3778 daysG2250?” 19And He saidG3004 to them, “WhatG4169 thingsG4169?” And they saidG3004 to Him, “The things aboutG4012 5JesusG2424 the NazareneG3479, whoG3739 was a 6prophetG4396 mightyG1415 in deedG2041 and wordG3056 in the sightG1727 of GodG2316 and allG3956 the peopleG2992, 20and howG3704 the chiefG749 priestsG749 and our 7rulersG758 deliveredG3860 Him to the sentenceG2917 of deathG2288, and crucifiedG4717 Him. 21But we were hopingG1679 that it was He who was goingG3195 to 8redeemG3084 IsraelG2474. IndeedG235, besidesG2532G4862 allG3956 thisG3778, it is the thirdG5154 dayG2250 sinceG575G3739 theseG3778 thingsG3778 happenedG1096. 22But alsoG2532 someG5100 womenG1135 amongG1537 us amazedG1839 us. 9When they were at the tombG3419 earlyG3720 in the morningG3720, 23and did not findG2147 His bodyG4983, they cameG2064, sayingG3004 that they had alsoG2532 seenG3708 a visionG3701 of angelsG32 whoG3739 saidG3004 that He was aliveG2198. 24SomeG5100 of thoseG3588 who were with us wentG565 to the tombG3419 and foundG2147 it justG2531 exactlyG3779 as the womenG1135 alsoG2532 had saidG3004; but Him they did not seeG3708.” 25And He saidG3004 to them, “OG5599 foolishG453 menG453 and slowG1021 of heartG2588 to believeG4100 in allG3956 that 10the prophetsG4396 have spokenG2980! 2611Was it not necessaryG1163 for the 12ChristG5547 to sufferG3958 theseG3778 thingsG3778 and to enterG1525 into His gloryG1391?” 27ThenG2532 beginningG757 13with 14MosesG3475 and 15with allG3956 the 16prophetsG4396, He explainedG1329 to them the things concerningG4012 HimselfG1438 in allG3956 the ScripturesG1124.
28And they approachedG1448 the villageG2968 whereG3757 they were goingG4198, and 17He actedG4364 as thoughG4364 He were goingG4198 fartherG4206. 29But they urgedG3849 Him, sayingG3004, “StayG3306 with us, for it is getting towardG4314 eveningG2073, and the dayG2250 18is nowG2235 nearlyG2827 overG2827.” SoG2532 He wentG1525 in to stayG3306 with them. 30WhenG1722 He had reclinedG2625 at the table with them, He tookG2983 the breadG740 and 19blessedG2127 it, and breakingG2806 it, He began givingG1929 it to them. 31ThenG2532 their 20eyesG3788 were openedG1272 and they recognizedG1921 Him; and He vanishedG855 from 21their sightG846. 32They saidG3004 to oneG240 anotherG240, “22Were not our heartsG2588 burningG2545 withinG1722 us whileG5613 He was speakingG2980 to us on the roadG3598, whileG5613 He 23was 24explainingG1272 the ScripturesG1124 to us?” 33And they gotG450 up that veryG846 hourG5610 and returnedG5290 to JerusalemG2419, and 25foundG2147 gatheredG120 togetherG120 the elevenG1733 and 26thoseG3588 whoG3588 were with them, 34sayingG3004, “27The LordG2962 has reallyG3689 risenG1453 and 28has appearedG3708 to SimonG4613.” 35They began to relateG1834 29their experiencesG3588 on the roadG3598 and howG5613 30He was recognizedG1097 by them in the breakingG2800 of the breadG740.
36While they were tellingG2980 theseG3778 thingsG3778, 31He HimselfG846 stoodG2476 in their midstG3319 and saidG3004 to them, “PeaceG1515 be to you.” 37But they were startledG4422 and frightenedG1719 and thoughtG1380 that they were seeingG2334 32a spiritG4151. 38And He saidG3004 to them, “WhyG5101 are you troubledG5015, and whyG1223G5101 do doubtsG1261 ariseG305 in your 33heartsG2588? 3934SeeG3708 My handsG5495 and My feetG4228, that it is I MyselfG846; 35touchG5584 Me and seeG3708, for a spiritG4151 does not haveG2192 fleshG4561 and bonesG3747 as you seeG2334 that I haveG2192.” 40And when He had saidG3004 thisG3778, He showedG1166 them His handsG5495 and His feetG4228. 41While they stillG2089 3637could not believeG569 it becauseG575 of their joyG5479 and amazementG2296, He saidG3004 to them, “38HaveG2192 you anythingG5100 hereG1759 to eatG1034?” 42They gaveG1929 Him a pieceG3313 of a broiledG3702 fishG2486; 43and He tookG2983 it and 39ateG2068 it beforeG1799 them.
44NowG1161 He saidG3004 to them, “40TheseG3778 are My wordsG3056 whichG3739 I spokeG2980 to you while I was stillG2089 with you, that allG3956 thingsG3956 which are writtenG1125 aboutG4012 Me in the 41LawG3551 of MosesG3475 and the ProphetsG4396 and 42the PsalmsG5568 mustG1163 be fulfilledG4137.” 45ThenG5119 He 43openedG1272 their 44mindsG3563 to understandG4920 the ScripturesG1124, 46and He saidG3004 to them, “45ThusG3779 it is writtenG1125, that the 46ChristG5547 would sufferG3958 and 47riseG450 againG450 from the deadG3498 the thirdG5154 dayG2250, 47and that 48repentanceG3341 49for forgivenessG859 of sinsG266 would be proclaimedG2784 50in His nameG3686 to 51allG3956 the nationsG1484, beginningG757 from JerusalemG2419. 48You are 52witnessesG3144 of theseG3778 thingsG3778. 49And beholdG2400, 53I am sendingG1821 forthG1821 the promiseG1860 of My FatherG3962 upon you; but 54you are to stayG2523 in the cityG4172 untilG2193 you are clothedG1746 with powerG1411 from on highG5311.”
50And He ledG1806 them out as farG2193 as 55BethanyG963, and He liftedG1869 up His handsG5495 and blessedG2127 them. 51WhileG1722 He was blessingG2127 them, He partedG1339 from them and was carriedG1339 up into heavenG3772. 52And they, after worshipingG4352 Him, returnedG5290 to JerusalemG2419 with greatG3173 joyG5479, 53and were continuallyG1223G3956 in the templeG2413 56praisingG2127 GodG2316.
