Revised Version 1895

1Then JosephH3130 wentH935 in and toldH5046 PharaohH6547, and saidH559, My fatherH1 and my brethrenH251, and their flocksH6629, and their herdsH1241, and allH3605 that they have, are comeH935 outH3605 of the landH776 of CanaanH3667; and, beholdH2005, they are in the landH776 of GoshenH1657. 2And from among his brethrenH251 he tookH3947 fiveH2568 menH376, and presented them unto PharaohH6547. 3And PharaohH6547 saidH559 unto his brethrenH251, WhatH4100 is your occupationH4639? And they saidH559 unto PharaohH6547, Thy servantsH5650 are shepherdsH7462, bothH1571 weH587, and our fathersH1. 4And they saidH559 unto PharaohH6547, To sojourn in the landH776 are weH3588 comeH935; for there is noH369 pastureH4829 for thy servants’H5650 flocksH6629; for the famineH7458 is sore in the landH776 of CanaanH3667: nowH6258 therefore, weH3588 prayH4994 thee, letH4994 thy servantsH5650 dwellH3427 in the landH776 of GoshenH1657. 5And PharaohH6547 spake unto JosephH3130, sayingH559, Thy fatherH1 and thy brethrenH251 are comeH935 unto thee: 6the landH776 of EgyptH4714 is beforeH6440 thee; in the bestH4315 of the landH776 makeH7760 thy fatherH1 and thy brethrenH251 to dwellH3427; in the landH776 of GoshenH1657 letH7760 them dwellH3427: and ifH518 thou knowest anyH376 ableH2428 menH376 among them, then makeH7760 them rulersH8269 over my cattleH4735. 7And JosephH3130 broughtH935 in JacobH3290 his fatherH1, and setH5975 him beforeH6440 PharaohH6547: and JacobH3290 blessedH1288 PharaohH6547. 8And PharaohH6547 saidH559 unto JacobH3290, HowH4100 manyH4100 are the daysH3117 of the yearsH8141 of thy lifeH3117? 9And JacobH3290 saidH559 unto PharaohH6547, The daysH3117 of the yearsH8141 of my pilgrimageH4033 are an hundredH3967 and thirtyH7970 yearsH8141: fewH4592 and evilH7451 have been the daysH3117 of the yearsH8141 of my lifeH3117, and they have notH3808 attainedH5381 unto the daysH3117 of the yearsH8141 of the lifeH3117 of my fathersH1 in the daysH3117 of their pilgrimageH4033. 10And JacobH3290 blessedH1288 PharaohH6547, and wentH3318 outH3318 from the presenceH6440 of PharaohH6547. 11And JosephH3130 placedH5414 his fatherH1 and his brethrenH251, and gaveH5414 them a possessionH272 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, in the bestH4315 of the landH776, in the landH776 of RamesesH7486, as PharaohH6547 had commandedH6680. 12And JosephH3130 nourished his fatherH1, and his brethrenH251, and allH3605 his father’sH1 householdH1004, with breadH3899, accordingH6310 to their familiesH1004. 13And there was noH369 breadH3899 in allH3605 the landH776; for the famineH7458 was veryH3966 sore, soH3588 that the landH776 of EgyptH4714 and the landH776 of CanaanH3667 fainted by reason of the famineH7458. 14And JosephH3130 gatheredH3950 upH3950 allH3605 the moneyH3701 that was foundH4672 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, and in the landH776 of CanaanH3667, for the corn whichH834 they boughtH7666: and JosephH3130 broughtH935 the moneyH3701 intoH935 Pharaoh’sH6547 houseH1004. 15And when the moneyH3701 was allH3605 spentH8552 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, and in the landH776 of CanaanH3667, allH3605 the EgyptiansH4714 cameH935 unto JosephH3130, and saidH559, GiveH3051 usH413 breadH3899: for whyH4100 should weH3588 dieH4191 in thy presenceH5048? for our moneyH3701 faileth. 16And JosephH3130 saidH559, GiveH5414 your cattleH4735; and I will giveH5414 youH5414 for your cattleH4735, ifH518 moneyH3701 fail. 17And they broughtH935 their cattleH1241 unto JosephH3130: and JosephH3130 gaveH5414 them breadH3899 in exchangeH5414 for the horsesH5483, and for the flocksH6629, and for the herdsH1241, and for the asses: and he fedH5095 them with breadH3899 in exchangeH5414 for allH3605 their cattleH1241 for that yearH8141. 18And when that yearH8141 was endedH8552, they cameH935 unto him the secondH8145 yearH8141, and saidH559 unto him, WeH3588 will notH3808 hideH3582 from my lordH113, howH3588 that our moneyH3701 is allH8552 spentH8552; and the herdsH4735 of cattleH929 are my lord’sH113; there is nought leftH7604 in the sightH6440 of my lordH113, but our bodiesH1472, and our landsH127: 19wherefore should weH587 dieH4191 beforeH5869 thine eyesH5869, bothH1571 weH587 and our landH127? buyH7069 usH5414 and our landH127 for breadH3899, and weH587 and our landH127 will be servantsH5650 unto PharaohH6547: and giveH5414 usH5414 seedH2233, that weH587 may liveH2421, and notH3808 dieH4191, and that the landH127 be notH3808 desolateH3456. 20SoH1961 JosephH3130 boughtH7069 allH3605 the landH776 of EgyptH4714 for PharaohH6547; for the EgyptiansH4714 soldH4376 everyH3605 manH376 his fieldH7704, becauseH3588 the famineH7458 was sore uponH5921 them: and the landH776 becameH1961 Pharaoh’sH6547. 21And as for the peopleH5971, he removed them to the citiesH5892 from one endH7097 of the borderH1366 of EgyptH4714 evenH5704 to the other endH7097 thereof. 22OnlyH7535 the landH127 of the priestsH3548 boughtH7069 he notH3808: for the priestsH3548 had a portionH2706 from PharaohH6547, and didH834 eatH398 their portionH2706 whichH834 PharaohH6547 gaveH5414 them; wherefore they soldH4376 notH3808 their landH127. 23Then JosephH3130 saidH559 unto the peopleH5971, BeholdH2005, I have boughtH7069 youH3117 this dayH3117 and your landH127 for PharaohH6547: loH2005, hereH2005 is seedH2233 for youH3117, and ye shall sowH2232 the landH127. 24And it shall comeH1961 to passH1961 at the ingatherings, that ye shall giveH5414 a fifthH2549 unto PharaohH6547, and fourH702 partsH3027 shall be your ownH1961, for seedH2233 of the fieldH7704, and for your foodH400, and for them of your householdsH1004, and for foodH400 for your littleH2945 onesH2945. 25And they saidH559, Thou hast saved our livesH2421: letH1961 usH559 findH4672 graceH2580 in the sightH5869 of my lordH113, and weH4672 will be Pharaoh’sH6547 servantsH5650. 26And JosephH3130 madeH7760 it a statuteH2706 concerning the landH127 of EgyptH4714 unto this dayH3117, that PharaohH6547 should have the fifthH2569; onlyH7535 the landH127 of the priestsH3548 aloneH905 becameH1961 notH3808 Pharaoh’sH6547. 27And IsraelH3478 dweltH3427 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, in the landH776 of GoshenH1657; and they gat them possessionsH270 therein, and were fruitfulH6509, and multipliedH7235 exceedinglyH3966. 28And JacobH3290 livedH2421 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714 seventeenH6240 yearsH8141: soH1961 the daysH3117 of JacobH3290, the yearsH8141 of his lifeH3117, were an hundredH3967 fortyH705 and sevenH7651 yearsH8141. 29And the time drewH7126 nearH7126 that IsraelH3478 mustH4191 dieH4191: and he calledH7121 his sonH1121 JosephH3130, and saidH559 unto him, IfH518 nowH4994 I have foundH4672 graceH2580 in thy sightH5869, putH4191, I prayH4994 thee, thy handH3027 underH8478 my thighH3409, and dealH6213 kindly and trulyH571 with meH4994; buryH6912 meH4994 notH408, I prayH4994 thee, in EgyptH4714: 30but when I sleepH7901 with my fathersH1, thou shalt carryH5375 meH5973 outH6213 of EgyptH4714, and buryH6912 meH5973 in their buryingplace. And he saidH559, I will doH6213 as thou hast saidH559. 31And he saidH559, SwearH7650 unto meH5921: and he sware unto him. And IsraelH3478 bowedH7812 himselfH7812 uponH5921 the bed’s headH7218.
