Genesis 47
1Then JosephH3130 wentH935 in and toldH5046 PharaohH6547, and saidH559, My fatherH1 and my brethren, and their flocksH6629, and their herdsH1241, and all that they have, are comeH935 out of the landH776 of CanaanH3667; and, behold, they are in the landH776 of GoshenH1657. 2And from among his brethren he tookH3947 fiveH2568 menH376, and presented them unto PharaohH6547. 3And PharaohH6547 saidH559 unto his brethren, What is your occupation? And they saidH559 unto PharaohH6547, Thy servantsH5650 are shepherdsH7462, both we, and our fathersH1. 4And they saidH559 unto PharaohH6547, To sojourn in the landH776 are we comeH935; for there is no pastureH4829 for thy servants’H5650 flocksH6629; for the famineH7458 is sore in the landH776 of CanaanH3667: nowH6258 thereforeH6258, we pray thee, let thy servantsH5650 dwellH3427 in the landH776 of GoshenH1657. 5And PharaohH6547 spake unto JosephH3130, sayingH559, Thy fatherH1 and thy brethren are comeH935 unto thee: 6the landH776 of EgyptH4714 is before thee; in the best of the landH776 makeH7760 thy fatherH1 and thy brethren to dwellH3427; in the landH776 of GoshenH1657 let them dwellH3427: and if thou knowest any able menH376 among them, then makeH7760 them rulers over my cattle. 7And JosephH3130 broughtH935 in JacobH3290 his fatherH1, and setH5975 him before PharaohH6547: and JacobH3290 blessedH1288 PharaohH6547. 8And PharaohH6547 saidH559 unto JacobH3290, HowH4100 many are the daysH3117 of the yearsH8141 of thy life? 9And JacobH3290 saidH559 unto PharaohH6547, The daysH3117 of the yearsH8141 of my pilgrimage are a hundredH3967 and thirtyH7970 yearsH8141: fewH4592 and evilH7451 have beenH1961 the daysH3117 of the yearsH8141 of my life, and they have not attained unto the daysH3117 of the yearsH8141 of the life of my fathersH1 in the daysH3117 of their pilgrimage. 10And JacobH3290 blessedH1288 PharaohH6547, and wentH3318 out from the presenceH6440 of PharaohH6547. 11And JosephH3130 placed his fatherH1 and his brethren, and gaveH5414 them a possessionH272 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, in the best of the landH776, in the landH776 of RamesesH7486, as PharaohH6547 had commandedH6680. 12And JosephH3130 nourished his fatherH1, and his brethren, and all his father’sH1 householdH1004, with breadH3899, according to their families.
13And there was no breadH3899 in all the landH776; for the famineH7458 was veryH3966 sore, so that the landH776 of EgyptH4714 and the landH776 of CanaanH3667 fainted by reason of the famineH7458. 14And JosephH3130 gatheredH3950 up all the moneyH3701 that was foundH4672 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, and in the landH776 of CanaanH3667, for the grainH7668 which they boughtH7666: and JosephH3130 broughtH935 the moneyH3701 into Pharaoh’s houseH1004. 15And when the moneyH3701 was all spent in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, and in the landH776 of CanaanH3667, all the Egyptians cameH935 unto JosephH3130, and saidH559, GiveH3051 us breadH3899: for whyH4100 should we dieH4191 in thy presence? for our moneyH3701 faileth. 16And JosephH3130 saidH559, GiveH5414 your cattle; and I will giveH5414 you for your cattle, if moneyH3701 fail. 17And they broughtH935 their cattleH1241 unto JosephH3130; and JosephH3130 gaveH5414 them breadH3899 in exchange for the horsesH5483, and for the flocksH6629, and for the herdsH1241, and for the asses: and he fed them with breadH3899 in exchange for all their cattleH1241 for that yearH8141. 18And when that yearH8141 was endedH8552, they cameH935 unto him the secondH8145 yearH8141, and saidH559 unto him, We will not hideH3582 from my lordH113, how that our moneyH3701 is all spent; and the herds of cattleH929 are my lord’sH113; there is nought leftH7604 in the sight of my lordH113, but our bodiesH1472, and our landsH127: 19wherefore should we dieH4191 before thine eyesH5869, both we and our landH127? buyH7069 us and our landH127 for breadH3899, and we and our landH127 will beH1961 servantsH5650 unto PharaohH6547: and giveH5414 us seedH2233, that we may liveH2421, and not dieH4191, and that the landH127 beH1961 not desolateH3456.
20So JosephH3130 boughtH7069 all the landH776 of EgyptH4714 for PharaohH6547; for the Egyptians soldH4376 every manH376 his fieldH7704, because the famineH7458 wasH1961 sore upon them: and the landH776 becameH1961 Pharaoh’s. 21And as for the peopleH5971, he removed them to the citiesH5892 from one endH7097 of the borderH1366 of EgyptH4714 even to the other endH7097 thereof. 22OnlyH7535 the landH127 of the priestsH3548 boughtH7069 he not: for the priestsH3548 had a portionH2706 from PharaohH6547, and did eatH398 their portionH2706 which PharaohH6547 gaveH5414 them; wherefore they soldH4376 not their landH127. 23Then JosephH3130 saidH559 unto the peopleH5971, Behold, I have boughtH7069 you this dayH3117 and your landH127 for PharaohH6547: lo, hereH2005 is seedH2233 for you, and ye shall sowH2232 the landH127. 24And it shall come to pass at the ingatherings, that ye shall giveH5414 a fifthH2549 unto PharaohH6547, and fourH702 parts shall beH1961 your own, for seedH2233 of the fieldH7704, and for your foodH400, and for them of your householdsH1004, and for foodH400 for your littleH2945 onesH2945. 25And they saidH559, Thou hast saved our livesH2421: let us findH4672 favorH2580 in the sight of my lordH113, and we will beH1961 Pharaoh’sH6547 servantsH5650. 26And JosephH3130 madeH7760 it a statuteH2706 concerning the landH127 of EgyptH4714 unto this dayH3117, that PharaohH6547 should have the fifth; onlyH7535 the landH127 of the priestsH3548 aloneH905 becameH1961 not Pharaoh’sH6547.
27And IsraelH3478 dweltH3427 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, in the landH776 of GoshenH1657; and they gat them possessionsH270 therein, and were fruitfulH6509, and multipliedH7235 exceedinglyH3966. 28And JacobH3290 livedH2421 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714 seventeen yearsH8141: so the daysH3117 of JacobH3290, the yearsH8141 of his life, wereH1961 a hundredH3967 fortyH705 and sevenH7651 yearsH8141. 29And the time drewH7126 near that IsraelH3478 must dieH4191: and he calledH7121 his sonH1121 JosephH3130, and saidH559 unto him, If now I have foundH4672 favorH2580 in thy sight, putH4191, I pray thee, thy handH3027 under my thighH3409, and deal kindly and truly with me: buryH6912 me not, I pray thee, in EgyptH4714; 30but when I sleep with my fathersH1, thou shalt carryH5375 me out of EgyptH4714, and buryH6912 me in their burying-place. And he saidH559, I will do as thou hast saidH559. 31And he saidH559, SwearH7650 unto me: and he sware unto him. And IsraelH3478 bowedH7812 himself upon the bed’s headH7218.
