Sonship in Christ

Nowδέ,deG1161I sayΛέγωLegōG3004,as longχρόνονchrononG5550as the heirκληρονόμοςklēronomosG2818is achildνήπιόςnēpiosG3516,he does not differδιαφέρειdiaphereiG1308atG3762allG3762from a slaveδούλουdoulouG1401, although he isownerκύριοςkuriosG2962of everythingπάντωνpantōnG3956,

Slave and Free

TellΛέγετέLegeteG3004me, you who wantθέλοντεςthelontesG2309to be underὑπὸhupoG5259lawνόμονnomonG3551, do you notlistenἀκούετε;akoueteG191to the LawνόμονnomonG3551?
For it is writtenγέγραπταιgegraptaiG1125that AbrahamἈβραὰμAbraamG11hadἔσχεν,eschenG2192twoδύοduoG1417sonsυἱοὺςhuiousG5207,oneἕναhenaG1520by the slaveπαιδίσκηςpaidiskēsG3814womanG3814andoneἕναhenaG1520by the freeἐλευθέρας.eleutherasG1658womanG1658.
Butthe son by the slaveπαιδίσκηςpaidiskēsG3814womanG3814was bornγεγέννηται,gegennētaiG1080accordingκατὰkataG2596to the fleshσάρκαsarkaG4561, andthe son by the freeἐλευθέραςeleutherasG1658womanG1658throughδι᾽di᾽G1223the promiseἐπαγγελίας.epangeliasG1860.
ThisG3748is speakingG238allegoricallyG238,for theseαὗταιhautaiG3778womenare twoδύοduoG1417covenantsδιαθῆκαι,diathēkaiG1242:oneμίαmiaG1520coming fromMountὄρουςorousG3735SinaiΣινᾶSinaG4614givingG1080birthG1080toG1080childrenG1080who are to beslavesδουλείανdouleianG1397;she is HagarἉγάρ.HagarG28.
NowG1161thisG3588HagarἉγὰρHagarG28is MountὄροςorosG3735SinaiΣινᾶSinaG4614in ArabiaἈραβίᾳ,ArabiaG688and correspondsσυστοιχεῖsustoicheiG4960to the presentνῦνnunG3568JerusalemἸερουσαλήμ,IerousalēmG2419,for she is enslavedδουλεύειdouleueiG1398with her childrenτέκνωνteknōnG5043.
Butthe JerusalemἸερουσαλὴμIerousalēmG2419aboveἄνωanōG507is freeἐλευθέραeleutheraG1658;she is our motherμήτηρmētērG3384.
For it is writtenγέγραπταιgegraptaiG1125: “RejoiceεὐφράνθητιeuphranthētiG2165,infertileστεῖραsteiraG4723one, you who do not giveG5088birthG5088;BreakG4486forthG4486and shoutβόησονboēsonG994,you who areG5605not inG5605laborG5605;For the childrenτέκναteknaG5043of the desolateἐρήμουerēmouG2048one aremoreG4183numerousG4183ThanἢēG2228thoseof the one who hasἐχούσηςechousēsG2192a husbandἄνδρα.andraG435.”
And you, brothersἀδελφοί,adelphoiG80and sisters,likeκατὰkataG2596IsaacἸσαὰκIsaakG2464, arechildrenτέκναteknaG5043of promiseἐπαγγελίαςepangeliasG1860.
But as at that timeτότεtoteG5119the sonwho was bornγεννηθεὶςgennētheisG1080accordingκατὰkataG2596to the fleshσάρκαsarkaG4561persecutedἐδίωκενediōkenG1377the one who was bornaccordingκατὰkataG2596to the SpiritπνεῦμαpneumaG4151,soοὕτωςhoutōsG3779it is evenκαὶkaiG2532nowνῦν·nunG3568.
But whatτίtiG5101does the Scriptureγραφή;graphēG1124sayλέγειlegeiG3004? “DriveἔκβαλεekbaleG1544out the slaveπαιδίσκηνpaidiskēnG3814womanπαιδίσκηςpaidiskēsG3814and her sonυἱὸνhuionG5207, Forthe sonυἱὸςhuiosG5207of the slaveG3814womanG3814shall not beG2816anG2816heirG2816with the sonυἱοῦhuiouG5207of the freeἐλευθέρας.eleutherasG1658womanG1658.”
