Bond and Free

TellΛέγετέLegeteG3004me, you who wantθέλοντεςthelontesG2309to be underὑπὸhupoG5259lawνόμονnomonG3551, do you notlistenἀκούετε;akoueteG191to the lawνόμονnomonG3551?
For it is writtenγέγραπταιgegraptaiG1125that AbrahamἈβραὰμAbraamG11hadἔσχεν,eschenG2192twoδύοduoG1417sonsυἱοὺςhuiousG5207,oneἕναhenaG1520by the bondwomanπαιδίσκηςpaidiskēsG3814andoneἕναhenaG1520by the freeἐλευθέρας.eleutherasG1658womanG1658.
Butthe son by the bondwomanπαιδίσκηςpaidiskēsG3814was bornγεγέννηται,gegennētaiG1080accordingκατὰkataG2596to the fleshσάρκαsarkaG4561, andthe son by the freeἐλευθέραςeleutherasG1658womanG1658throughδι᾽di᾽G1223the promiseἐπαγγελίας.epangeliasG1860.
ThisG3748is allegoricallyG238speakingG238,for theseαὗταιhautaiG3778womenare twoδύοduoG1417covenantsδιαθῆκαι,diathēkaiG1242:oneμίαmiaG1520proceeding fromMountὄρουςorousG3735SinaiΣινᾶSinaG4614bearingG1080childrenG1080who are to beslavesδουλείανdouleianG1397;she is HagarἉγάρ.HagarG28.
NowG3568thisG3588HagarἉγὰρHagarG28is MountὄροςorosG3735SinaiΣινᾶSinaG4614in ArabiaἈραβίᾳ,ArabiaG688and correspondsσυστοιχεῖsustoicheiG4960to the presentνῦνnunG3568JerusalemἸερουσαλήμ,IerousalēmG2419,for she is in slaveryδουλεύειdouleueiG1398with her childrenτέκνωνteknōnG5043.
Butthe JerusalemἸερουσαλὴμIerousalēmG2419aboveἄνωanōG507is freeἐλευθέραeleutheraG1658;she is our motherμήτηρmētērG3384.
For it is writtenγέγραπταιgegraptaiG1125, “RejoiceεὐφράνθητιeuphranthētiG2165,barrenστεῖραsteiraG4723womanG4723who does not bearτίκτουσα,tiktousaG5088;BreakG4486forthG4486and shoutβόησονboēsonG994,you who are not in laborὠδίνουσα,ōdinousaG5605;For moreG4183numerousG4183are the childrenτέκναteknaG5043of the desolateἐρήμουerēmouG2048ThanἢēG2228of the one who hasἐχούσηςechousēsG2192a husbandἄνδρα.andraG435.”
And you brethrenἀδελφοί,adelphoiG80,likeκατὰkataG2596IsaacἸσαὰκIsaakG2464, arechildrenτέκναteknaG5043of promiseἐπαγγελίαςepangeliasG1860.
But as at that timeτότεtoteG5119he who was bornγεννηθεὶςgennētheisG1080accordingκατὰkataG2596to the fleshσάρκαsarkaG4561persecutedἐδίωκενediōkenG1377him who was bornaccordingκατὰkataG2596to the SpiritπνεῦμαpneumaG4151,soοὕτωςhoutōsG3779it is nowνῦν·nunG3568alsoκαὶkaiG2532.
But whatτίtiG5101does the Scriptureγραφή;graphēG1124sayλέγειlegeiG3004? “CastἔκβαλεekbaleG1544out the bondwomanπαιδίσκηνpaidiskēnG3814and her sonυἱὸνhuionG5207, Forthe sonυἱὸςhuiosG5207of the bondwomanπαιδίσκηςpaidiskēsG3814shall not be an heirκληρονομήσειklēronomēseiG2816with the sonυἱοῦhuiouG5207of the freeἐλευθέρας.eleutherasG1658womanG1658.”
SoG1352thenG1352,brethrenἀδελφοί,adelphoiG80,we are not childrenτέκναteknaG5043of a bondwomanπαιδίσκηςpaidiskēsG3814,but of the freeἐλευθέρας·eleutherasG1658womanG1658.
