Isaiah 57

Darby Bible

1The righteousH6662 perisheth, and no manH376 layeth it to heartH3820; and merciful menH376 are taken away, none considering that the righteousH6662 is taken away from before the evilH7451. 2He entereth into peaceH7965: they restH5117 in their bedsH4904, [each one] that hath walkedH1980 in his uprightness. 3But drawH7126 near hither, ye sonsH1121 of the sorceress, the seedH2233 of the adultererH5003 and the harlot. 4Against whom do ye sport yourselves? Against whom do ye makeH7337 a wideH7337 mouthH6310, [and] draw out the tongueH3956? Are ye not childrenH3206 of transgressionH6588, a seedH2233 of falsehoodH8267, 5inflaming yourselves with idols under every green treeH6086, slaying the childrenH3206 in the valleys under the cleftsH5585 of the rocksH5553? 6Among the smooth [stones] of the torrent is thy portionH2506; they, they are thy lotH1486: even to them hast thou pouredH8210 out a drink-offering, thou hast offeredH5927 an oblation. Shall I be comfortedH5162 myself as to these thingsH428? 7Upon a lofty and highH1364 mountainH2022 hast thou setH7760 thy bedH4904: even thither didst thou goH5927 up to offerH5927 sacrificeH2077. 8Behind the doorsH1817 also and the posts hast thou setH7760 up thy remembranceH2146: for apart from me, thou hast uncoveredH1540 thyself, and art goneH5927 up; thou hast enlargedH7337 thy bedH4904, and hast madeH3772 agreement with them; thou lovedst their bedH4904, thou sawest their nakedness. 9And thou wentest to the kingH4428 with ointment, and didst multiplyH7235 thy perfumes, and didst sendH7971 thy messengers afarH7350 off, and didst debase thyself unto SheolH7585. 10Thou wast weariedH3021 by the multitudeH7230 of thy waysH1870; [but] thou saidst not, It is of no avail. Thou didst findH4672 a quickening of thy strength; thereforeH3651 thou wast not sickH2470 [of it]. 11And of whom hast thou been afraidH3372 or fearedH3372, that thou hast liedH3576, and hast not rememberedH2142 me, nor taken it to heartH3820? Have not I even of longH5769 time held my peace, and thou fearest me not? 12I will declareH5046 thy righteousnessH6666, and thy worksH4639; and they shall not profitH3276 thee. 13When thou criest, let them that are gathered by thee deliverH5337 thee! But a windH7307 shall carryH5375 them all awayH5375, a breathH7307 shall takeH3947 them; but he that putteth his trust in me shall inheritH5157 the landH776, and possessH3423 my holyH6944 mountainH2022. 14And it shall be saidH559, Cast up, cast up, prepare the wayH1870, takeH7311 up the stumbling-blocks out of the wayH1870 of my peopleH5971. 15For thusH3541 saith the highH4791 and loftyH7311 OneH6918 that inhabiteth eternity, and whose nameH8034 is HolyH6918: I dwellH7931 in the highH4791 and holyH6918 [place], and with him that is of a contriteH1792 and humble spiritH7307, to revive the spiritH7307 of the humble, and to revive the heartH3820 of the contriteH1792 onesH6918. 16For I will not contendH7378 for everH5769, neither will I be always wroth; for the spiritH7307 would fail before me, and the souls [which] I have madeH6213. 17For the iniquityH5771 of his covetousness was I wroth, and smote him; I hidH5641 me, and was wroth, and he went on backslidingly in the wayH1870 of his heartH3820. 18I have seenH7200 his waysH1870, and will healH7495 him; and I will leadH5148 him, and will restore comforts unto him and to those of his that mournH57. 19I createH1254 the fruit of the lipsH8193: peaceH7965, peaceH7965 to him [that is] afarH7350 off, and to him [that is] nigh, saith Jehovah; and I will healH7495 him. 20But the wickedH7563 are like the troubled seaH3220, which cannot rest, and whose watersH4325 cast up mire and dirt. 21There is no peaceH7965, saith my 1GodH430, to the wickedH7563.
