Isaiah 17
Darby Bible
1The burdenH4853 of DamascusH1834. Behold, DamascusH1834 is taken awayH5493 from [being] a cityH5892, and it shall beH1961 a ruinous heap. 2The citiesH5892 of AroerH6177 are forsaken: they shall beH1961 for flocksH5739; and they shall lieH7257 downH7257 and there shall beH1961 none to make them afraid. 3The fortressH4013 also shall ceaseH7673 from EphraimH669, and the kingdomH4467 from DamascusH1834, and the remnantH7605 of Syria: they shall beH1961 as the gloryH3519 of the children of IsraelH3478, saith Jehovah of hostsH6635. 4And in that dayH3117 it shall come to pass, that the gloryH3519 of JacobH3290 shall beH1961 made thin, and the fatness of his fleshH1320 shall becomeH1961 leanH7329. 5And it shall beH1961 as when the reaper gathereth the corn, and reapeth the earsH7641 with his armH2220; yea, it shall beH1961 as he that gathereth earsH7641 in the valleyH6010 of RephaimH7497. 6And a gleaning shall be leftH7604 in it, as at the shaking of an olive-tree: twoH8147, threeH7969 berries above, in the tree-top; fourH702, fiveH2568 in its fruitfulH6509 boughs, saith Jehovah, the 1GodH430 of IsraelH3478. 7In that dayH3117 shall manH120 lookH7200 to his Maker, and his eyesH5869 shall have regard to the HolyH6918 OneH6918 of IsraelH3478. 8And he will not lookH7200 to the altarsH4196, the workH4639 of his handsH3027, nor have regard to what his fingersH676 have madeH6213, neither the Asherahs nor the sun-images. 9In that dayH3117 shall his strong citiesH5892 beH1961 as the forsaken tract in the woodland, and the mountain-top which they forsook before the children of IsraelH3478; and there shall beH1961 desolationH8077. 10For thou hast forgottenH7911 the 2GodH430 of thy salvationH3468, and hast not been mindful of the rockH6697 of thy strength; thereforeH3651 shalt thou plantH5193 pleasant plantations, and shalt set them with foreign slips: 11in the dayH3117 of thy planting wilt thou make [them] to grow, and on the morrow wilt thou make thy seedH2233 to flourish; [but] the harvestH7105 will flee in the dayH3117 of taking possession, and the sorrow will be incurableH605. 12Ha! a tumultH1995 of manyH7227 peoplesH5971! they make a noiseH1995 as the noiseH1995 of the seasH3220; — and the rushing of nations! they rush as the rushing of mightyH3524 watersH4325. 13The nationsH3816 rush as the rushing of manyH7227 watersH4325; but he will rebukeH1605 them, and they shall fleeH5127 far away, and shall be chased as the chaffH4671 of the mountainsH2022 before the windH7307, and like a whirlingH1534 [of dustH1534] before the whirlwind: 14behold, at eventide, trouble; before the morningH1242 they are not. This is the portionH2506 of them that spoilH962 us, and the lotH1486 of them that rob us.
