Isaiah 48
Darby Bible
1HearH8085 ye this, houseH1004 of JacobH3290, who are calledH7121 by the nameH8034 of IsraelH3478, and are comeH3318 forthH3318 out of the watersH4325 of JudahH3063, who swearH7650 by the nameH8034 of Jehovah, and makeH8085 mention of the 1GodH430 of IsraelH3478, not in truthH571, nor in righteousnessH6666. 2For they are namedH8034 after the holyH6944 cityH5892, and stay themselves upon the 2GodH430 of IsraelH3478: Jehovah of hostsH6635 is his nameH8034. 3I have declaredH5046 the formerH7223 thingsH7223 long ago; and they wentH3318 forthH3318 out of my mouthH6310, and I caused them to be heardH8085: I wrought suddenlyH6597, and they cameH935 to pass. 4Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neckH6203 is an ironH1270 sinewH1517, and thy brow brass, 5so I have long ago declaredH5046 [them] to thee; before they cameH935 to pass I caused thee to hearH8085 [them]; lestH6435 thou shouldest sayH559, Mine idolH6459 hath done them, and my graven imageH6459, or my molten imageH6459 hath commandedH6680 them. 6Thou heardest, seeH2372 all this; — and ye, will not ye declareH5046 [it]? I have caused thee to hearH8085 newH2319 things from this time, and things hidden, and that thou knewest not: 7they are createdH1254 nowH6258, and not long ago; and before this dayH3117 thou hast not heardH8085 them, lestH6435 thou shouldest sayH559, Behold, I knewH3045 them. 8Yea, thou heardest not, yea, thou knewest not, yea, from of old thine earH241 was not openedH6605; for I knewH3045 that thou wouldest ever dealH898 treacherouslyH898, and thou wast calledH7121 a transgressor from the wombH990. 9For my name's sakeH4616 I will defer mine angerH639, and [for] my praiseH8416 will I refrain as to thee, that I cutH3772 thee not off. 10Behold, I have refinedH6884 thee, but not as silverH3701; I have chosenH977 thee in the furnaceH3564 of affliction. 11For mine own sakeH4616, for mine own sakeH4616, will I do [it]; for howH349 should [my name] be profanedH2490? and I will not giveH5414 my gloryH3519 unto another. 12Hearken unto me, JacobH3290, and [thou] IsraelH3478, my calledH7121. I [am] HE; I, the firstH7223, and I, the lastH314. 13Yea, my handH3027 hath laid the foundation of the earthH776, and my rightH3225 handH3027 hath spread abroad the heavensH8064: I callH7121 unto them, they standH5975 up togetherH3162. 14All ye, gatherH6908 yourselves togetherH6908, and hearH8085: which among them hath declaredH5046 these thingsH428? He whom Jehovah hath lovedH157 shall execute his pleasureH2656 on BabylonH894, and his armH2220 [shall be on] the ChaldeansH3778. 15I, [evenH637] I, have spokenH1696; yea, I have calledH7121 him; I have broughtH935 him, and his wayH1870 shall be prosperous. 16Come near unto me, hearH8085 ye this: I have not spokenH1696 in secret from the beginning; from the timeH6256 that it wasH1961, there am I; and nowH6258 the LordH136 Jehovah hath sentH7971 me, and his SpiritH7307. 17ThusH3541 saith Jehovah, thy RedeemerH1350, the HolyH6918 OneH6918 of IsraelH3478; I [am] Jehovah thy 3GodH430, who teacheth thee for [thy] profitH3276, who leadeth thee in the wayH1870 that thou shouldest go. 18Oh that thou hadst hearkened to my commandmentsH4687! Then would thy peaceH7965 have beenH1961 as a riverH5104, and thy righteousnessH6666 as the waves of the seaH3220; 19and thy seedH2233 would have beenH1961 as the sandH2344, and the offspringH2233 of thy bowelsH4578 like the gravel thereof: their nameH8034 should not have beenH1961 cutH3772 off nor destroyedH8045 from before me. 20GoH3318 ye forthH3318 from BabylonH894, fleeH1272 from the ChaldeansH3778, with a voiceH6963 of singing; declareH5046, cause this to be heardH8085, utter it to the endH7097 of the earthH776; sayH559 ye, Jehovah hath redeemedH1350 his servantH5650 JacobH3290. 21And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts; he caused the watersH4325 to flowH5140 out of the rockH6697 for them; yea, he clave the rockH6697, and the watersH4325 gushed out. 22There is no peaceH7965, saith Jehovah, unto the wickedH7563.
