Isaiah 7
Darby Bible
1And it came to pass in the daysH3117 of AhazH271, the sonH1121 of JothamH3147, the sonH1121 of UzziahH5818, kingH4428 of JudahH3063, [that] RezinH7526 the kingH4428 of Syria, and PekahH6492 the sonH1121 of RemaliahH7425, kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, came up to JerusalemH3389 to make warH4421 against it, but they wereH1961 not ableH3201 to fightH3898 against it. 2And it was toldH5046 the houseH1004 of DavidH1732 sayingH559, Syria is allied with EphraimH669. Then his heartH3824 and the heartH3824 of his peopleH5971 shookH5128, as the treesH6086 of the forestH3293 are shakenH5128 with the windH7307. 3And Jehovah saidH559 to IsaiahH3470, GoH3318 out now to meet AhazH271, thou and thy sonH1121 Shear-jashub, at the endH7097 of the aqueduct of the upperH5945 poolH1295, on the highwayH4546 of the fuller's fieldH7704; 4and thou shalt sayH559 unto him, TakeH8104 heedH8104 and be quietH8252; fearH3372 not, and let not thy heartH3824 faint before these twoH8147 ends of smokingH6226 firebrands, because of the fierce angerH639 of RezinH7526 and Syria, and of the sonH1121 of RemaliahH7425. 5Inasmuch as Syria hath taken evilH7451 counselH3289 against thee, EphraimH669 [also] and the sonH1121 of RemaliahH7425, sayingH559, 6Let us goH5927 up against JudahH3063, and harass it, and make a breach therein for us, and set up a kingH4428 therein — the sonH1121 of Tabeal; 7thusH3541 saith the LordH136 Jehovah: It shall not standH6965, nor come to pass; 8for the headH7218 of Syria is DamascusH1834, and the headH7218 of DamascusH1834 is RezinH7526; and within sixty-five yearsH8141 shall EphraimH669 be broken, so as to be no [more a] peopleH5971; 9and the headH7218 of EphraimH669 is SamariaH8111, and the headH7218 of SamariaH8111 is Remaliah's sonH1121. If ye believeH539 not, surely ye shall not be establishedH539. 10And Jehovah spokeH1696 again to AhazH271, sayingH559, 11AskH7592 for thee a signH226 from Jehovah thy 1GodH430; askH7592 for it in the deepH6009, or in the height above. 12And AhazH271 saidH559, I will not askH7592, and will not tempt Jehovah. 13And he saidH559, HearH8085 then, houseH1004 of DavidH1732: Is it a smallH4592 matter for you to wearyH3811 menH376, that ye wearyH3811 alsoH1571 my 2GodH430? 14ThereforeH3651 will the LordH136 himself giveH5414 you a signH226: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and shall bring forthH3205 a sonH1121, and callH7121 his nameH8034 Immanuel. 15Butter and honeyH1706 shall he eatH398, that he may knowH3045 to refuse the evilH7451, and to chooseH977 the goodH2896. 16For before the child knoweth to refuse the evilH7451 and to chooseH977 the goodH2896, the landH127 whose twoH8147 kingsH4428 thou fearest shall be forsaken. 17Jehovah will bringH935 upon thee, and upon thy peopleH5971, and upon thy father's houseH1004, daysH3117 which have not comeH935 since the dayH3117 when EphraimH669 turnedH5493 awayH5493 from JudahH3063 — [even] the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804. 18And it shall come to pass in that dayH3117, that Jehovah will hissH8319 for the fly which is at the extremity of the streams of EgyptH4714, and for the beeH1682 which is in the landH776 of AssyriaH804; 19and they shall comeH935 and settle all of them in the desolate valleys, and in the holes of the rocksH5553, and on all thorn-bushes, and on all the pastures. 20In that dayH3117 will the LordH136, with a razorH8593 which is hired beyond the riverH5104, with the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804, shaveH1548 the headH7218 and the hairH8181 of the feetH7272, yea, the beardH2206 alsoH1571 will it take awayH5595. 21And it shall come to pass in that dayH3117, [that] a manH376 shall nourish a young cow and twoH8147 sheepH6629, 22and it shall come to pass, from the abundanceH7230 of milkH2461 they shall give, [that] he shall eatH398 butter; for every one that remaineth in the midstH7130 of the landH776 shall eatH398 butter and honeyH1706. 23And it shall come to pass in that dayH3117, [that] every placeH4725, whereH834 there were a thousandH505 vinesH1612 at a thousandH505 silverH3701 pieces, shall becomeH1961 briars and thorns: 24with arrowsH2678 and with the bowH7198 shall they comeH935 thither, for the whole landH776 shall becomeH1961 briars and thorns. 25And all mountainsH2022 that have beenH1961 dug up with the hoe — thither will they not comeH935, from fearH3374 of briars and thorns; and they shall beH1961 for the sendingH4916 forth of oxen, and for the treading of small cattle.
