Isaiah 38
Darby Bible
1In those daysH3117 HezekiahH2396 was sickH2470 unto deathH4191. And the prophetH5030 IsaiahH3470 the sonH1121 of AmozH531 cameH935 to him, and saidH559 to him, ThusH3541 saith Jehovah: Set thy houseH1004 in order; for thou shalt dieH4191, and not liveH2421. 2And HezekiahH2396 turnedH5437 his faceH6440 to the wallH7023, and prayedH6419 to Jehovah, 3and saidH559, Ah, Jehovah, rememberH2142, I beseech thee, how I have walkedH1980 before thee in truthH571 and with a perfectH8003 heartH3820, and have done that which is goodH2896 in thy sight. And HezekiahH2396 weptH1058 much. 4And the wordH1697 of Jehovah came to IsaiahH3470, sayingH559, 5GoH1980 and sayH559 to HezekiahH2396, ThusH3541 saith Jehovah, the 1GodH430 of DavidH1732 thy fatherH1: I have heardH8085 thy prayerH8605, I have seenH7200 thy tearsH1832: behold, I will addH3254 to thy daysH3117 fifteen yearsH8141. 6And I will deliverH5337 thee and this cityH5892 out of the handH3709 of the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804, and I will defendH1598 this cityH5892. 7And this [shall be] the signH226 to thee from Jehovah, that Jehovah will do this thingH1697 that he hath spokenH1696: 8behold, I will bringH7725 again the shadowH6738 of the degrees which hath goneH3381 downH3381 with the sunH8121 on the dial of AhazH271, tenH6235 degrees backwardH322. So the sunH8121 returnedH7725 on the dial tenH6235 degrees, by which it had goneH3381 downH3381. 9The writing of HezekiahH2396 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, when he had been sickH2470 and had recovered from his sicknessH2483: 10I saidH559, In the meridian of my daysH3117 I shall go to the gatesH8179 of SheolH7585: I am deprived of the restH3499 of my yearsH8141. 11I saidH559, I shall not seeH7200 Jah, Jah in the landH776 of the living. With those who dwellH3427 where all has ceased to be, I shall behold manH120 no more. 12Mine age is departed, and is removed from me as a shepherd's tentH168. I have cutH1214 off like a weaverH707 my life. He separateth me from the thrum: — from dayH3117 to nightH3915 thou wilt make an end of me. 13I kept still until the morningH1242; ...as a lionH738, soH3651 doth he breakH7665 all my bonesH6106. From dayH3117 to nightH3915 thou wilt make an end of me. 14Like a swallow [or] a craneH5693, soH3651 did I chatter; I mourned as a doveH3123; mine eyesH5869 failed [with looking] upward: LordH136, I am oppressed; undertake for me. 15What shall I sayH559? He hath both spokenH1696 unto me, and himself hath done [it]. I shall go softly all my yearsH8141 in the bitternessH4751 of my soulH5315. 16LordH136, by these things [men] liveH2421, and in all these things is the lifeH2416 of my spiritH7307; and thou hast recovered me, and made me to liveH2421. 17Behold, instead of peaceH7965 I had bitternessH4751 upon bitternessH4751; but thou hast in love delivered my soulH5315 from the pitH7845 of destruction; for thou hast castH7993 all my sinsH2399 behind thy back. 18For not SheolH7585 shall praiseH1984 thee, nor deathH4194 celebrate thee; they that goH3381 down into the pitH953 do not hope for thy truthH571. 19The living, the living, he shall praiseH3034 thee, as I this dayH3117: the fatherH1 to the children shall makeH3045 knownH3045 thy truthH571. 20Jehovah was [purposed] to saveH3467 me. — And we will playH5059 upon my stringedH5058 instrumentsH5058 all the daysH3117 of our life, in the houseH1004 of Jehovah. 21Now IsaiahH3470 had saidH559, Let them takeH5375 a cakeH1690 of figsH8384, and lay it for a plaster upon the boilH7822, and he shall recover. 22And HezekiahH2396 had saidH559, What is the signH226 that I shall goH5927 up into the houseH1004 of Jehovah?
