Isaiah 41
Darby Bible
1Keep silence before me, islandsH339; and let the peoplesH3816 renew [their] strengthH3581: let them come near; thenH227 let them speakH1696: let us drawH7126 near togetherH3162 to judgmentH4941. 2Who raised up from the eastH4217 him whom righteousnessH6664 calleth to its footH7272? He gaveH5414 the nationsH1471 before him, and caused him to have dominion over kingsH4428; he gaveH5414 them as dustH6083 to his swordH2719, as drivenH5086 stubbleH7179 to his bowH7198. 3He pursuedH7291 them, he passedH5674 on in safetyH7965, by a wayH734 he had never comeH935 with his feetH7272. 4Who hath wrought and done [it], callingH7121 the generationsH1755 from the beginning? I, Jehovah, the firstH7223; and with the lastH314, I [am] HE. 5The isles sawH7200 [it], and fearedH3372; the endsH7098 of the earthH776 trembledH2729: they drewH7126 near, and came. 6They helpedH5826 every oneH376 his neighbour, and [each] saidH559 to his brotherH251, TakeH2388 courage. 7And the artizan encouragedH2388 the founder, he that smootheth [with] the hammerH6360 him that smiteth on the anvil, sayingH559 of the soldering, It is goodH2896; and he fasteneth it with nailsH4548, that it be not moved. 8But thou, IsraelH3478, my servantH5650, JacobH3290, whom I have chosenH977, the seedH2233 of AbrahamH85, my friendH157 9— thou whom I have takenH2388 from the endsH7098 of the earthH776, and calledH7121 from the extremities thereof, and to whom I saidH559, Thou art my servantH5650, I have chosenH977 thee and not rejectedH3988 thee, 10— FearH3372 not, for I [am] with thee; be not dismayed, for I [am] thy 1GodH430: I will strengthenH553 thee, yea, I will helpH5826 thee, yea, I will uphold thee with the rightH3225 handH3225 of my righteousnessH6664. 11Lo, all that are incensed against thee shall beH1961 ashamedH954 and confounded; they that strive with thee shall beH1961 as nothingH369, and shall perishH6. 12Thou shalt seekH1245 them, and shalt not findH4672 them — them that contend with thee; they that warH4421 against thee shall beH1961 as nothing, and as a thing of nought. 13For I, Jehovah, thy 2GodH430, holdH2388 thy rightH3225 handH3225, sayingH559 unto thee, FearH3372 not; I will helpH5826 thee. 14FearH3372 not, thou worm JacobH3290, ye men of IsraelH3478; I will helpH5826 thee, saith Jehovah, and thy RedeemerH1350, the HolyH6918 OneH6918 of IsraelH3478. 15Behold, I have madeH7760 of thee a newH2319 sharp threshingH1758 instrument having double teeth: thou shalt threshH1758 and beat small the mountainsH2022, and shalt makeH7760 the hillsH1389 as chaffH4671; 16thou shalt fan them, and the windH7307 shall carryH5375 them awayH5375, and the whirlwind shall scatterH2219 them; and thou shalt rejoiceH1523 in Jehovah, thou shalt glory in the HolyH6918 OneH6918 of IsraelH3478. 17The afflictedH6041 and the needyH34 seekH1245 waterH4325, and there is none; their tongueH3956 faileth for thirstH6772: I, Jehovah, will answerH6030 them, [I], the 3GodH430 of IsraelH3478, will not forsakeH5800 them. 18I will openH6605 riversH5104 on the bareH8205 heightsH8205, and fountains in the midstH8432 of the valleysH1237; I will makeH7760 the wildernessH4057 into a poolH98 of waterH4325, and the dryH6723 landH776 into water-springs. 19I will giveH5414 in the wildernessH4057 the cedarH730, acaciaH7848, myrtleH1918, and oleaster; I will setH7760 in the desertH6160 the cypressH1265, pine, and box-tree togetherH3162; 20that they may seeH7200, and knowH3045, and considerH7200, and understand togetherH3162, that the handH3027 of Jehovah hath done this, and the HolyH6918 OneH6918 of IsraelH3478 hath createdH1254 it. 21Produce your causeH7379, saith Jehovah; bringH7126 forward your arguments, saith the KingH4428 of JacobH3290. 22Let them bringH935 them forward, and declareH5046 to us what shall happen: shew the formerH7223 thingsH7223, what they are, that we may give attention to them, and knowH3045 the endH319 of them; — or let us hearH8085 thingsH7223 to comeH935: 23declareH5046 the thingsH857 that are to happen hereafter, that we may knowH3045 that ye are 4godsH430; yea, do goodH3190, or do evilH7489, that we may be astonished, and behold it togetherH3162. 24Behold, ye are less than nothingH369, and your workH6467 is of nought; an abominationH8441 is he that chooseth you. ... 25I have raised up one from the northH6828, and he shall comeH935, — from the rising of the sunH8121, he who will callH7121 upon my nameH8034; and he shall comeH935 upon princes as on mortar, and as the potterH3335 treadeth clayH2916. 26Who hath declaredH5046 [it] from the beginning, that we may knowH3045? and beforetime, that we may sayH559, [It is] right? IndeedH637, there is none that declareth; no, none that sheweth; no, none that heareth your wordsH561. 27The firstH7223, [I said] to ZionH6726, Behold, behold them! and to JerusalemH3389, I will giveH5414 oneH7223 that bringeth glad tidings. 28And I beheld, and there was no manH376; even among them, — and there was no counsellor, that, when I askedH7592 of them, could answer a wordH1697. 29Behold, they are all vanity, their worksH4639 are nought, their molten images are windH7307 and emptinessH8414.
