Isaiah 51
Darby Bible
1Hearken unto me, ye that follow after righteousnessH6664, ye that seekH1245 Jehovah: lookH5027 unto the rockH6697 [whence] ye were hewn, and to the hole of the pitH953 [whence] ye were digged. 2LookH5027 unto AbrahamH85 your fatherH1, and unto SarahH8283 that bore you; for I calledH7121 him when he was alone, and blessedH1288 him, and multipliedH7235 him. 3For Jehovah shall comfortH5162 ZionH6726, he shall comfortH5162 all her wasteH2723 placesH2723; and he will makeH7760 her wildernessH4057 like EdenH5731, and her desertH6160 like the gardenH1588 of Jehovah: gladnessH8057 and joyH8057 shall be foundH4672 therein, thanksgivingH8426, and the voiceH6963 of song. 4Listen unto me, my peopleH5971; and giveH238 earH238 unto me, my nation: for a lawH8451 shall proceed from me, and I will establish my judgmentH4941 for a lightH216 of the peoplesH5971. 5My righteousnessH6664 is near, my salvationH3468 is goneH3318 forthH3318, and mine armsH2220 shall judgeH8199 the peoplesH5971: the isles shall waitH3176 for me, and in mine armH2220 shall they trust. 6LiftH5375 up your eyesH5869 to the heavensH8064, and lookH5027 on the earthH776 beneath: for the heavensH8064 shall vanish awayH5375 like smokeH6227, and the earthH776 shall grow old like a garmentH899, and they that dwellH3427 therein shall dieH4191 in like manner; but my salvationH3444 shall beH1961 for everH5769, and my righteousnessH6666 shall not beH1961 abolished. 7Hearken unto me, ye that knowH3045 righteousnessH6664, the peopleH5971 in whose heartH3820 is my lawH8451; fearH3372 not the reproachH2781 of men, and be not afraidH3372 of their revilings. 8For the mothH6211 shall eatH398 them up like a garmentH899, and the worm shall eatH398 them like woolH6785; but my righteousnessH6666 shall beH1961 for everH5769, and my salvationH3444 from generationH1755 to generationH1755. 9AwakeH5782, awakeH5782, putH3847 on strengthH5797, O armH2220 of Jehovah; awakeH5782, as in the daysH3117 of old, [as in] the generationsH1755 of passed ages. Is it not thou that hath hewn RahabH7294 in pieces, [and] pierced the monsterH8577? 10Is it not thou that dried up the seaH3220, the watersH4325 of the greatH7227 deepH8415; that madeH7760 the depthsH8415 of the seaH3220 a wayH1870 for the redeemedH1350 to passH5674 over? 11So the ransomedH6299 of Jehovah shall returnH7725, and comeH935 to ZionH6726 with singing; and everlasting joyH8057 shall be upon their headsH7218: they shall obtain gladnessH8057 and joyH8057; sorrowH3015 and sighingH585 shall fleeH5127 awayH7725. 12I, [even] I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou fearest a manH120 that shall dieH4191, and the sonH1121 of manH120 that shall become as grassH2682; 13and forgettest Jehovah thy Maker, who hath stretchedH5186 out the heavensH8064, and laid the foundations of the earthH776; and thou art afraidH6342 continuallyH8548 all the dayH3117 because of the fury of the oppressorH6693, when he prepareth to destroyH7843? And whereH834 is the fury of the oppressorH6693? 14He that is bowed down shall speedily be loosed, and he shall not dieH4191 in the pitH7845, nor shall his breadH3899 fail. 15And I am Jehovah thy 1GodH430, who raiseth the seaH3220, so that its waves roarH1993: Jehovah of hostsH6635 is his nameH8034. 16And I have putH7760 my wordsH1697 in thy mouthH6310, and coveredH3680 thee with the shadowH6738 of my handH3027, to plantH5193 the heavensH8064, and to lay the foundations of the earthH776, and to sayH559 unto ZionH6726, Thou art my peopleH5971. 17ArouseH5782 thyself, arouseH5782 thyself, standH6965 up, JerusalemH3389, which hast drunkH8354 at the handH3027 of Jehovah the cupH3563 of his fury. Thou hast drunkH8354, hast drainedH4680 out the goblet-cup of bewilderment: 18— there is none to guide her among all the children that she hath broughtH3205 forthH3205; neither is there any to takeH2388 her by the handH3027 of all the children that she hath broughtH3205 up. 19These twoH8147 [things] are come unto thee; who will bemoan thee? — desolation and destructionH7667, and famineH7458 and swordH2719: how shall I comfortH5162 thee? 20Thy children have faintedH5968, they lieH7901 at the headH7218 of all the streetsH2351, as an oryx in a net: they are fullH4392 of the fury of Jehovah, the rebukeH1606 of thy 2GodH430. 21ThereforeH3651 hearH8085 now this, thou afflictedH6041, and drunken, but not with wineH3196: 22thusH3541 saith thy Lord, Jehovah, and thy 3GodH430, who pleadeth the cause of his peopleH5971, Behold, I takeH3947 out of thy handH3027 the cupH3563 of bewilderment, the goblet-cup of my fury; thou shalt no more drinkH8354 it againH5750: 23and I will putH7760 it into the handH3027 of them that afflict thee; who have saidH559 to thy soulH5315, BowH7812 downH7812, that we may go over; and thou hast laid thy body as the groundH776, and as the streetH2351 to them that went over.
