Isaiah 44
Darby Bible
1And nowH6258 hearH8085, JacobH3290, my servantH5650, and IsraelH3478, whom I have chosenH977: 2thusH3541 saith Jehovah, that madeH6213 thee, and formedH3335 thee from the wombH990, who helpeth thee, FearH3372 not, JacobH3290, my servantH5650, and thou, JeshurunH3484, whom I have chosenH977. 3For I will pourH3332 waterH4325 upon him that is thirstyH6771, and floods upon the dryH3004 groundH3004; I will pourH3332 my SpiritH7307 upon thy seedH2233, and my blessingH1293 upon thine offspringH2233. 4And they shall springH6779 up among the grassH2682, as willows by the water-courses. 5OneH2088 shall sayH559, I am Jehovah's; and another shall callH7121 [himself] by the nameH8034 of JacobH3290; and another shall writeH3789 with his handH3027: [I am] Jehovah's, and surname [himself] by the nameH8034 of IsraelH3478. 6ThusH3541 saith Jehovah, the KingH4428 of IsraelH3478, and his RedeemerH1350, Jehovah of hostsH6635: I [am] the firstH7223, and I [am] the lastH314, and beside me there is no 1GodH430. 7And who, as I, shall callH7121, and shall declareH5046 it, and setH7760 it in order for me, since I appointedH7760 the ancient peopleH5971? And the comingH935 thingsH857, and those that shall happen, let them declareH5046 unto them. 8FearH6342 not, neither be afraidH6342. Have I not caused thee to hearH8085 from that time, and have declaredH5046 it? and ye are my witnessesH5707. Is there a 2GodH433 beside me? yea, there is no RockH6697: I knowH3045 not any. 9They that form a graven imageH6459 are all of them vanity, and their delectable things are of no profitH3276; and they are their own witnessesH5707: they seeH7200 not, nor knowH3045; — that they may be ashamedH954. 10Who hath formedH3335 a 3godH410, or molten a graven imageH6459 that is profitable for nothing? 11Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamedH954; and the workmen are but menH120. Let them all be gatheredH6908 togetherH3162, let them standH5975 up: they shall fearH6342, they shall be ashamedH954 togetherH3162. 12The iron-smith [hath] a chisel, and he worketh in the coals, and he fashioneth it with hammersH4717, and worketh it with his strong armH2220; — but he is hungryH7456, and his strengthH2220 faileth; he hath not drunkH8354 waterH4325, and he is faint. 13The worker in woodH6086 stretcheth out a line; he marketh it out with red chalk; he formeth it with sharp tools, and he marketh it out with the compass, and maketh it after the figure of a manH376, according to the beautyH8597 of manH376: that it may remainH3427 in the houseH1004. 14When he heweth him downH3772 cedarsH730, he taketh also a holm-oak and a terebinth — he chooseth for himself among the treesH6086 of the forestH3293: he planteth a pine, and the rainH1653 maketh [it] growH1431. 15And it shall beH1961 for a manH120 to burnH1197, and he taketh thereof, and warmeth himself; he kindleth it alsoH637, and baketh breadH3899; he maketh alsoH637 a 4godH410, and worshippeth it; he maketh it a graven imageH6459, and falleth downH7812 thereto. 16He burneth part thereof in the fireH784; with part thereof he eateth fleshH1320, he roasteth roastH6748, and is satisfiedH7646; yea, he is warmH2552, and saith, AhaH1889, I am become warmH2552, I have seenH7200 the fireH784. 17And with the remainder thereof he maketh a 5godH410, his graven imageH6459; he falleth downH7812 unto it, and worshippeth it, and prayeth unto it, and saith, DeliverH5337 me, for thou art my 6godH410. 18They have no knowledge, and understandH995 not; for he hath plasteredH2902 their eyesH5869, that they may not seeH7200; and their heartsH3820, that they may not understandH995. 19And none taketh it to heartH3820, neither is there knowledgeH1847 nor understandingH8394 to sayH559, I have burnedH8313 part of it in the fireH784, and have alsoH637 bakedH644 breadH3899 upon the coalsH1513 thereof, I have roasted fleshH1320, and eatenH398 [it], and with the restH3499 thereof shall I makeH6213 an abominationH8441? shall I bow down to a block of woodH6086? 20He feedeth on ashesH665; a deceived heartH3820 hath turnedH5186 him asideH5186, that he cannot deliverH5337 his soulH5315, nor sayH559, Is there not a lieH8267 in my rightH3225 handH3225? 21RememberH2142 these thingsH428, O JacobH3290, and IsraelH3478, for thou art my servantH5650; I have formedH3335 thee: thou art my servantH5650, IsraelH3478; thou shalt not be forgottenH5382 of me. 22I have blotted out, as a thick cloudH6051, thy transgressionsH6588, and, as a cloudH6051, thy sinsH2403: returnH7725 unto me; for I have redeemedH1350 thee. 23SingH7442, ye heavensH8064; for Jehovah hath done it: shoutH7321, ye lower partsH8482 of the earthH776; breakH6476 forthH6476 into singing, ye mountainsH2022, the forestH3293, and every treeH6086 therein! For Jehovah hath redeemedH1350 JacobH3290, and glorifiedH6286 himself in IsraelH3478. 24ThusH3541 saith Jehovah, thy RedeemerH1350, and he that formedH3335 thee from the wombH990: I [am] Jehovah, the maker of all things; who aloneH905 stretchedH5186 out the heavensH8064, who did spreadH5186 forth the earthH776 by myself; 25— he that frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh divinersH7080 mad; that turneth wiseH2450 men backwardH268, and maketh their knowledgeH1847 foolishH5528; 26that confirmeth the wordH1697 of his servantH5650, and performeth the counselH6098 of his messengersH4397; that saith to JerusalemH3389, Thou shalt be inhabitedH3427; and to the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063, Ye shall be builtH1129 up, and I will raiseH6965 up their ruinsH2723; 27that saith to the deep, Be dryH3001, and I will dryH3001 up thy riversH5104; 28that saith of CyrusH3566, [He is] my shepherd, and he shall perform all my pleasureH2656; even sayingH559 to JerusalemH3389, Thou shalt be builtH1129; and to the templeH1964, Thy foundation shall be laid.
