Isaiah 53

Darby Bible

1Who hath believedH539 our reportH8052? and to whom hath the armH2220 of Jehovah been revealedH1540? 2For he shall grow up before him as a tender sapling, and as a rootH8328 out of dryH6723 groundH776: he hath no formH8389 nor lordliness, and when we seeH7200 him, there is no beauty that we should desireH2530 him. 3He is despisedH959 and left alone of menH376; a manH376 of sorrows, and acquainted with grief, and like oneH376 from whom [menH376] hide their facesH6440; — despisedH959, and we esteemedH2803 him not. 4Surely he hath borneH5375 our griefs and carriedH5375 our sorrows; and we, we did regardH2803 him strickenH5221, smitten of 1GodH430, and afflicted. 5But he was wounded for our transgressionsH6588, he was bruised for our iniquitiesH5771; the chastisement of our peaceH7965 was upon him, and with his stripes we are healedH7495. 6All we like sheepH6629 have goneH8582 astrayH8582, we have turnedH6437 every oneH376 to his own wayH1870; and Jehovah hath laid upon him the iniquityH5771 of us all. 7He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, but he openedH6605 not his mouthH6310; he was led as a lambH7716 to the slaughterH2874, and was as a sheepH7716 dumb before her shearersH1494, and he openedH6605 not his mouthH6310. 8He was takenH3947 from oppression and from judgmentH4941; and who shall declare his generationH1755? for he was cutH1504 off out of the landH776 of the living; for the transgressionH6588 of my peopleH5971 was he stricken. 9And [men] appointed his graveH6913 with the wickedH7563, but he was with the richH6223 in his deathH4194, because he had done no violenceH2555, neither was there guile in his mouthH6310. 10Yet it pleasedH2654 Jehovah to bruise him; he hath subjected [him] to suffering. When thou shalt makeH7760 his soulH5315 an offeringH817 for sin, he shall seeH7200 a seedH2233, he shall prolongH748 [his] daysH3117, and the pleasureH2656 of Jehovah shall prosperH6743 in his handH3027. 11He shall seeH7200 of [the fruit of] the travail of his soulH5315, [and] shall be satisfiedH7646: by his knowledgeH1847 shall my righteousH6662 servantH5650 instruct manyH7227 in righteousness; and he shall bear their iniquitiesH5771. 12ThereforeH3651 will I assign him a portion with the greatH7227, and he shall divideH2505 the spoilH7998 with the strong: because he hath pouredH6168 out his soulH5315 unto deathH4194, and was reckoned with the transgressorsH6586; and he boreH5375 the sinH2399 of manyH7227, and made intercession for the transgressorsH6586.
