The Offering of Isaac
1Now it cameH1961 about afterH310 theseH428 thingsH1697, that 1GodH430 testedH5254 AbrahamH85, and saidH559 to him, “2AbrahamH85!” And he saidH559, “HereH2009 I am.” 2He saidH559, “TakeH3947 nowH4994 3your sonH1121, your onlyH3173 son, whomH834 you loveH157, IsaacH3327, and goH1980 to the landH776 of 4MoriahH4179, and offerH5927 him thereH8033 as a 5burntH5930 offeringH5930 on oneH259 of the mountainsH2022 of whichH834 I will tellH559 you.” 3So AbrahamH85 roseH7925 earlyH7925 in the morningH1242 and saddledH2280 his donkeyH2543, and tookH3947 twoH8147 of his youngH5288 menH5288 with him and IsaacH3327 his sonH1121; and he splitH1234 woodH6086 for the burntH5930 offeringH5930, and aroseH6965 and wentH1980 to the placeH4725 of whichH834 GodH430 had toldH559 him. 4On the thirdH7992 dayH3117 AbrahamH85 raisedH5375 his eyesH5869 and sawH7200 the placeH4725 from a distanceH7350. 5AbrahamH85 saidH559 to his youngH5288 menH5288, “StayH3427 hereH6311 with the donkeyH2543, and I and the ladH5288 will goH1980 overH5704H3541 thereH5704H3541; and we will worshipH7812 and returnH7725 to you.” 6AbrahamH85 tookH3947 the woodH6086 of the burntH5930 offeringH5930 and 6laidH7760 it on IsaacH3327 his sonH1121, and he tookH3947 in his handH3027 the fireH784 and the knifeH3979. So the twoH8147 of them walkedH1980 on togetherH3164. 7IsaacH3327 spokeH559 to AbrahamH85 his fatherH1 and saidH559, “My fatherH1!” And he saidH559, “HereH2009 I am, my sonH1121.” And he saidH559, “BeholdH2009, the fireH784 and the woodH6086, but whereH346 is the 7lambH7716 for the burntH5930 offeringH5930?” 8AbrahamH85 saidH559, “GodH430 will 8provideH7200 for Himself the lambH7716 for the burntH5930 offeringH5930, my sonH1121.” So the twoH8147 of them walkedH1980 on togetherH3164.
9Then they cameH935 to 9the placeH4725 of whichH834 GodH430 had toldH559 him; and AbrahamH85 builtH1129 10the altarH4196 thereH8033 and arrangedH6186 the woodH6086, and boundH6123 his sonH1121 IsaacH3327 and 11laidH7760 him on the altarH4196, on topH4605 of the woodH6086. 10AbrahamH85 stretchedH7971 out his handH3027 and tookH3947 the knifeH3979 to slayH7819 his sonH1121. 11But 12the angelH4397 of the LordH3068 calledH7121 to him from heavenH8064 and saidH559, “AbrahamH85, AbrahamH85!” And he saidH559, “HereH2009 I am.” 12He saidH559, “Do not stretchH7971 out your handH3027 againstH413 the ladH5288, and doH6213 nothingH408H3972 to him; for nowH6258 13I knowH3045 that you 14fearH3372 GodH430, since you have not withheldH2820 15your sonH1121, your onlyH3173 son, from Me.” 13Then AbrahamH85 raisedH5375 his eyesH5869 and lookedH7200, and beholdH2009, behindH310 him a ramH352 caughtH270 in the thicketH5442 by his hornsH7161; and AbrahamH85 wentH1980 and tookH3947 the ramH352 and offeredH5927 him up for a burntH5930 offeringH5930 in the placeH8478 of his sonH1121. 14AbrahamH85 calledH7121 the nameH8034 of that placeH4725 16The LordH3068 Will ProvideH7200, as it is saidH559 to this dayH3117, “In the mountH2022 of the LordH3068 17it will 18be providedH7200.”
15Then the angelH4397 of the LordH3068 calledH7121 to AbrahamH85 a secondH8145 timeH8145 from heavenH8064, 16and saidH559, “19By Myself I have swornH7650, declaresH5002 the LordH3068, becauseH3588H3282 you have doneH6213 thisH2088 thingH1697 and have not withheldH2820 your sonH1121, your onlyH3173 son, 17indeedH3588 I will greatlyH1288 blessH1288 you, and I will greatlyH7235 20multiplyH7235 your 21seedH2233 as the starsH3556 of the heavensH8064 and as 22the sandH2344 whichH834 is on the seashoreH3220H8193; and 23your 24seedH2233 shall possessH3423 the gateH8179 of 25their enemiesH340. 1826In your 27seedH2233 allH3605 the nationsH1471 of the earthH776 shall 28be blessedH1288, becauseH6118H834 you have 29obeyedH8085 My voiceH6963.” 1930So AbrahamH85 returnedH7725 to his youngH5288 menH5288, and they aroseH6965 and wentH1980 togetherH3164 to BeershebaH884; and AbrahamH85 livedH3427 at BeershebaH884.
20Now it cameH1961 about afterH310 theseH428 thingsH1697, that it was toldH5046 AbrahamH85, sayingH559, “BeholdH2009, 31MilcahH4435 32alsoH1571 has borneH3205 childrenH1121 to your brotherH251 NahorH5152: 21UzH5780 his firstbornH1060 and BuzH938 his brotherH251 and KemuelH7055 the fatherH1 of AramH758 22and ChesedH3777 and HazoH2375 and PildashH6394 and JidlaphH3044 and BethuelH1328.” 23BethuelH1328 33becameH3205 the fatherH3205 of 34RebekahH7259; theseH428 eightH8083 MilcahH4435 boreH3205 to NahorH5152, Abraham’sH85 brotherH251. 24His concubineH6370, whose nameH8034 was ReumahH7208, 35alsoH1571 boreH3205 TebahH2875 and GahamH1514 and TahashH8477 and MaacahH4601.
