John 12

1JesusG2424 thereforeG3767 sixG1803 daysG2250 before the passoverG3957 cameG2064 to BethanyG963, whereG3699 LazarusG2976 wasG1510, whom JesusG2424 raisedG1453 from the deadG3498. 2So they madeG4160 him a supperG1173 there: and MarthaG3136 servedG1247; but LazarusG2976 wasG1510 oneG1520 of them that sat at meat with him. 3MaryG3137 thereforeG3767 tookG2983 a pound of ointment of pureG4101 nardG3487, very preciousG4186, and anointedG218 the feetG4228 of JesusG2424, and wiped his feetG4228 with her hairG2359: and the houseG3614 was filledG4137 with the odor of the ointment. 4But JudasG2455 IscariotG2469, oneG1520 of his disciplesG3101, that should betrayG3860 him, saith, 5WhyG5101 was not this ointment sold for threeG5145 hundredG5145 shillings, and givenG1325 to the poorG4434? 6NowG1161 this he saidG3004, not because he cared for the poorG4434; but because he wasG1510 a thiefG2812, and having the bag took away what wasG1510 putG906 therein. 7JesusG2424 thereforeG3767 saidG3004, Suffer her to keepG5083 it against the dayG2250 of my burying. 8For the poorG4434 ye have alwaysG3842 with you; but me ye have not alwaysG3842.

9The common peopleG3793 thereforeG3767 of the JewsG2453 learned that he wasG1510 there: and they cameG2064, not for Jesus’G2424 sakeG1223 onlyG3440, but that they might seeG3708 LazarusG2976 alsoG2532, whom he had raisedG1453 from the deadG3498. 10But the chiefG749 priestsG749 took counsel that they might putG615 LazarusG2976 alsoG2532 to deathG615; 11because that by reason of him manyG4183 of the JewsG2453 wentG5217 awayG5217, and believedG4100 on JesusG2424.

12On the morrow a greatG4183 multitudeG3793 that had comeG2064 to the feastG1859, when they heardG191 that JesusG2424 was comingG2064 to JerusalemG2414, 13tookG2983 the branches of the palmG5404 trees, and wentG1831 forthG1831 to meetG5222 him, and cried out, HosannaG5614: BlessedG2127 is he that cometh in the nameG3686 of the LordG2962, evenG2532 the KingG935 of IsraelG2474. 14And JesusG2424, having foundG2147 a young ass, satG2523 thereon; as it isG1510 writtenG1125, 15FearG5399 not, daughterG2364 of ZionG4622: beholdG2400, thy KingG935 cometh, sittingG2521 on an ass’s coltG4454. 16These thingsG3778 understoodG1097 not his disciplesG3101 at the firstG4413: but whenG3753 JesusG2424 wasG1510 glorifiedG1392, then rememberedG3403 they that these thingsG3778 wereG1510 writtenG1125 of him, and that they had done these thingsG3778 unto him. 17The multitudeG3793 thereforeG3767 that wasG1510 with him whenG3753 he calledG5455 LazarusG2976 out of the tombG3419, and raisedG1453 him from the deadG3498, bare witnessG3140. 18For this cause alsoG2532 the multitudeG3793 went and met him, for that they heardG191 that he had done this signG4592. 19The PhariseesG5330 thereforeG3767 saidG3004 among themselves, BeholdG2396 how ye prevail nothing; lo, the worldG2889 is goneG565 after him.

20NowG1161 there wereG1510 certainG5100 GreeksG1672 among those that wentG305 up to worshipG4352 at the feastG1859: 21these thereforeG3767 cameG4334 to PhilipG5376, who was of BethsaidaG966 of GalileeG1056, and askedG2065 him, sayingG3004, SirG2962, we would seeG3708 JesusG2424. 22PhilipG5376 cometh and telleth AndrewG406: AndrewG406 cometh, and PhilipG5376, and they tellG3004 JesusG2424. 23And JesusG2424 answereth them, sayingG3004, The hourG5610 is comeG2064, that the SonG5207 of manG444 should be glorifiedG1392. 24Verily, verily, I sayG3004 unto you, Except a grain of wheatG4621 fallG4098 into the earthG1093 and dieG599, it abideth by itself aloneG3441; but if it dieG599, it beareth muchG4183 fruitG2590. 25He that loveth his lifeG2222 loseth it; and he that hateth his lifeG2222 in this worldG2889 shall keepG5442 it unto lifeG2222 eternalG166. 26If any man serveG1247 me, let him followG190 me; and whereG3699 I amG1510, there shall alsoG2532 my servantG1249 beG1510: if any man serveG1247 me, him will the FatherG3962 honorG5091. 27NowG3568 is my soulG5590 troubledG5015; and what shall I sayG3004? FatherG3962, saveG4982 me from this hourG5610. But for this cause cameG2064 I unto this hourG5610. 28FatherG3962, glorifyG1392 thy nameG3686. There cameG2064 thereforeG3767 a voiceG5456 out of heavenG3772, saying, I have both glorifiedG1392 it, and will glorifyG1392 it againG3825. 29The multitudeG3793 thereforeG3767, that stoodG2476 by, and heardG191 it, saidG3004 that it had thunderedG1027: othersG243 saidG3004, An angelG32 hath spokenG2980 to him. 30JesusG2424 answeredG611 and saidG3004, This voiceG5456 hath not comeG1096 for my sakeG1223, but for your sakesG1223. 31NowG3568 isG1510 the judgmentG2920 of this worldG2889: nowG3568 shall the princeG758 of this worldG2889 beG1510 castG1544 out. 32And I, if I be liftedG5312 up from the earthG1093, will drawG1670 all men unto myself. 33But this he saidG3004, signifyingG4591 by what manner of deathG2288 he should dieG599. 34The multitudeG3793 thereforeG3767 answeredG611 him, We have heardG191 out of the lawG3551 that the ChristG5547 abideth for ever: and howG4459 sayest thou, The SonG5207 of manG444 must beG1510 liftedG5312 up? who isG1510 this SonG5207 of manG444? 35JesusG2424 thereforeG3767 saidG3004 unto them, Yet a little while isG1510 the lightG5457 among you. WalkG4043 while ye have the lightG5457, that darknessG4653 overtake you not: and he that walketh in the darknessG4653 knoweth not whither he goeth. 36While ye have the lightG5457, believeG4100 on the lightG5457, that ye may becomeG1096 sonsG5207 of lightG5457.

These thingsG3778 spake JesusG2424, and he departedG565 and hidG2928 himself from them. 37But though he had done so manyG5118 signsG4592 before them, yet they believedG4100 not on him: 38that the wordG3056 of IsaiahG2268 the prophetG4396 might be fulfilled, which he spake,

LordG2962, who hath believedG4100 our reportG3056?And to whom hath the armG1023 of the LordG2962 been revealedG601?

39For this cause they could not believeG4100, for that IsaiahG2268 saidG3004 againG3825,

40He hath blindedG5186 their eyesG3788, and he hardenedG4456 their heartG2588;LestG3361 they should seeG3708 with their eyesG3788, and perceive with their heartG2588,And should turnG4762,And I should healG2390 them.

41These thingsG3778 saidG3004 IsaiahG2268, because he sawG3708 his gloryG1391; and he spake of him. 42Nevertheless evenG2532 of the rulersG758 manyG4183 believedG4100 on him; but because of the PhariseesG5330 they did not confessG3670 it, lestG3361 they should be put out of the synagogueG656: 43for they lovedG25 the gloryG1391 that is of menG444 moreG3123 than the gloryG1391 that is of GodG2316.

44And JesusG2424 criedG2896 and saidG3004, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sentG3992 me. 45And he that beholdeth me beholdeth him that sentG3992 me. 46I am comeG2064 a lightG5457 into the worldG2889, that whosoever believeth on me may not abideG3306 in the darknessG4653. 47And if any man hearG191 my sayings, and keepG5442 them not, I judgeG2919 him not: for I cameG2064 not to judgeG2919 the worldG2889, but to saveG4982 the worldG2889. 48He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my sayingsG3056, hath oneG3739 that judgeth him: the wordG3056 that I spake, the sameG846 shall judgeG2919 him in the lastG2078 dayG2250. 49For I spake not from myself; but the FatherG3962 that sentG3992 me, he hath givenG1325 me a commandmentG1785, what I should sayG3004, and what I should speakG2980. 50And I know that his commandmentG1785 isG1510 lifeG2222 eternalG166; the thingsG3739 thereforeG3767 which I speakG2980, evenG2532 as the FatherG3962 hath saidG3004 unto me, so I speakG2980.
