Mark 1
1The beginning of the gospelG2098 of JesusG2424 ChristG5547, the Son of God.
2Even as it is writtenG1125 in IsaiahG2268 the prophetG4396,
4JohnG2491 cameG1096, who baptizedG907 in the wildernessG2048 and preachedG2784 the baptismG908 of repentanceG3341 unto remission of sinsG266. 5And there wentG1607 out unto him all the countryG5561 of Judæa, and all they of JerusalemG2415; and they were baptizedG907 of him in the riverG4215 JordanG2446, confessingG1843 their sinsG266. 6And JohnG2491 wasG1510 clothed with camel’sG2574 hairG2359, and had a leathern girdle about his loinsG3751, and did eatG2068 locustsG200 and wildG66 honeyG3192. 7And he preachedG2784, sayingG3004, There cometh after me he that isG1510 mightierG2478 than I, the latchet of whose shoes I amG1510 not worthyG2425 to stoopG2955 downG2955 and unloose. 8I baptizedG907 you in waterG5204; but he shall baptizeG907 you in the HolyG40 SpiritG4151.
9And it cameG2064 to passG1096 in those daysG2250, that JesusG2424 cameG2064 from NazarethG3478 of GalileeG1056, and was baptizedG907 of JohnG2491 in the JordanG2446. 10And straightway comingG2597 up out of the waterG5204, he sawG3708 the heavensG3772 rent asunder, and the SpiritG4151 as a doveG4058 descendingG2597 upon him: 11and a voiceG5456 cameG1096 out of the heavensG3772, Thou art my belovedG27 SonG5207, in thee I amG1510 well pleased.
12And straightway the SpiritG4151 driveth him forth into the wildernessG2048. 13And he wasG1510 in the wildernessG2048 fortyG5062 daysG2250 temptedG3985 of SatanG4567; and he wasG1510 with the wildG2342 beastsG2342; and the angelsG32 ministeredG1247 unto him.
14NowG1161 after JohnG2491 was deliveredG3860 up, JesusG2424 cameG2064 into GalileeG1056, preachingG2784 the gospelG2098 of GodG2316, 15and sayingG3004, The timeG2540 is fulfilled, and the kingdomG932 of GodG2316 is at hand: repentG3340 ye, and believeG4100 in the gospelG2098.
16And passing along by the seaG2281 of GalileeG1056, he sawG3708 SimonG4613 and AndrewG406 the brotherG80 of SimonG4613 castingG906 a net in the seaG2281; for they wereG1510 fishersG231. 17And JesusG2424 saidG3004 unto them, ComeG1096 ye after me, and I will makeG4160 you to becomeG1096 fishersG231 of menG444. 18And straightway they leftG863 the netsG1350, and followedG190 him. 19And going on a littleG3641 further, he sawG3708 JamesG2385 the son of ZebedeeG2199, and JohnG2491 his brotherG80, who alsoG2532 were in the boatG4143 mending the netsG1350. 20And straightway he calledG2564 them: and they leftG863 their fatherG3962 ZebedeeG2199 in the boatG4143 with the hired servantsG3411, and wentG565 after him.
21And they go into CapernaumG2584; and straightway on the sabbathG4521 day he enteredG1531 into the synagogueG4864 and taughtG1321. 22And they wereG1510 astonishedG1605 at his teachingG1321: for he taughtG1321 them as having authorityG1849, and not as the scribesG1122. 23And straightway there wasG1510 in their synagogueG4864 a manG444 with an uncleanG169 spiritG4151; and he cried out, 24sayingG3004, What have we to do with thee, JesusG2424 thou NazareneG3479? art thou comeG2064 to destroyG622 us? I know thee who thou art, the HolyG40 OneG3588 of GodG2316. 25And JesusG2424 rebukedG2008 him, sayingG3004, Hold thy peace, and comeG1831 out of him. 26And the uncleanG169 spiritG4151, tearing him and crying with a loudG3173 voiceG5456, cameG1831 out of him. 27And they wereG1510 all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, sayingG3004, What isG1510 this? a newG2537 teachingG1322! with authorityG1849 he commandeth evenG2532 the uncleanG169 spiritsG4151, and they obeyG5219 him. 28And the reportG189 of him wentG1831 out straightway everywhereG3837 into all the regionG4066 of GalileeG1056 round about.
29And straightway, when they were comeG2064 out of the synagogueG4864, they cameG2064 into the houseG3614 of SimonG4613 and AndrewG406, with JamesG2385 and JohnG2491. 30NowG1161 Simon’s wife’s mother lay sick of a feverG4445; and straightway they tellG3004 him of her: 31and he cameG4334 and tookG2902 her by the handG5495, and raisedG1453 her up; and the feverG4446 leftG863 her, and she ministeredG1247 unto them.
32And at evenG2532, whenG3753 the sunG2246 did set, they broughtG5342 unto him all that were sickG2560, and them that were possessed with demons. 33And all the cityG4172 wasG1510 gatheredG1996 togetherG1996 at the doorG2374. 34And he healedG2323 manyG4183 that were sickG2560 with divers diseasesG3554, and castG1544 out manyG4183 demonsG1140; and he suffered not the demonsG1140 to speakG2980, because they knew him.
35And in the morningG4404, a great while before day, he roseG450 up and wentG1831 out, and departedG565 into a desert placeG5117, and there prayedG4336. 36And SimonG4613 and they that were with him followed after him; 37and they foundG2147 him, and sayG3004 unto him, All are seekingG2212 thee. 38And he saith unto them, Let us goG1831 elsewhere into the next towns, that I may preachG2784 there alsoG2532; for to this end cameG1831 I forthG1831. 39And he went into their synagoguesG4864 throughout all GalileeG1056, preachingG2784 and casting out demonsG1140.
40And there cometh to him a leperG3015, beseechingG3870 him, and kneeling downG1120 to him, and sayingG3004 unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 41And being moved with compassionG4697, he stretchedG1614 forth his handG5495, and touchedG681 him, and saith unto him, I willG2309; be thou made clean. 42And straightway the leprosyG3014 departedG565 from him, and he was made clean. 43And he strictly charged him, and straightway sentG1544 him out, 44and saith unto him, SeeG3708 thou sayG3004 nothingG3367 to any man: but goG5217 showG1166 thyself to the priestG2409, and offerG4374 for thy cleansing the thingsG3739 which MosesG3475 commandedG4367, for a testimonyG3142 unto them. 45But he wentG1831 out, and beganG757 to publish it muchG4183, and to spread abroad the matterG3056, insomuch that Jesus could no moreG4183 openlyG5320 enterG1525 into a cityG4172, but wasG1510 without in desert placesG5117: and they cameG2064 to him from every quarter.
