Joshua Chapter 1
American Standard Version
1Now it came to pass after the deathH4194 of MosesH4872 the servantH5650 of Jehovah, that Jehovah spake unto JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of NunH5126, Moses’H4872 minister, sayingH559, 2MosesH4872 my servantH5650 is deadH4191; nowH6258 thereforeH6258 ariseH6965, go over this JordanH3383, thou, and all this peopleH5971, unto the landH776 which I do giveH5414 to them, even to the children of IsraelH3478. 3Every placeH4725 that the soleH3709 of your footH7272 shall treadH1869 upon, to you have I givenH5414 it, as I spake unto MosesH4872. 4From the wildernessH4057, and this LebanonH3844, even unto the greatH1419 riverH5104, the riverH5104 EuphratesH6578, all the landH776 of the HittitesH2850, and unto the greatH1419 seaH3220 toward the going down of the sunH8121, shall beH1961 your borderH1366. 5There shall not any manH376 beH1961 able to standH3320 before thee all the daysH3117 of thy life: as I wasH1961 with MosesH4872, so I will beH1961 with thee; I will not fail thee, nor forsakeH5800 thee. 6Be strongH2388 and of good courage; for thou shalt cause this peopleH5971 to inheritH5157 the landH776 which I sware unto their fathersH1 to giveH5414 them. 7OnlyH7535 be strongH2388 and veryH3966 courageousH553, to observeH8104 to do according to all the lawH8451, which MosesH4872 my servantH5650 commandedH6680 thee: turnH5493 not from it to the rightH3225 handH3225 or to the left, that thou mayest have good success whithersoever thou goest. 8This bookH5612 of the lawH8451 shall not departH4185 out of thy mouthH6310, but thou shalt meditateH1897 thereon dayH3119 and nightH3915, that thou mayest observeH8104 to do according to all that is writtenH3789 therein: for thenH227 thou shalt makeH6213 thy wayH1870 prosperous, and thenH227 thou shalt have good successH6743. 9Have not I commandedH6680 thee? Be strongH2388 and of good courage; be not affrighted, neither be thou dismayedH2865: for Jehovah thy GodH430 is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
10Then JoshuaH3091 commandedH6680 the officersH7860 of the peopleH5971, sayingH559, 11PassH5674 through the midstH7130 of the campH4264, and commandH6680 the peopleH5971, sayingH559, PrepareH3559 you victuals; for within threeH7969 daysH3117 ye are to passH5674 over this JordanH3383, to goH935 in to possessH3423 the landH776, which Jehovah your GodH430 giveth you to possessH3423 it.
12And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half-tribe of ManassehH4519, spake JoshuaH3091, sayingH559, 13RememberH2142 the wordH1697 which MosesH4872 the servantH5650 of Jehovah commandedH6680 you, sayingH559, Jehovah your GodH430 giveth you restH5117, and will giveH5414 you this landH776. 14Your wivesH802, your littleH2945 onesH2945, and your cattle, shall abide in the landH776 which MosesH4872 gaveH5414 you beyond the JordanH3383; but ye shall passH5674 over before your brethren armed, all the mightyH1368 menH1368 of valor, and shall helpH5826 them; 15until Jehovah have givenH5414 your brethren restH5117, as he hath givenH5414 you, and they alsoH1571 have possessedH3423 the landH776 which Jehovah your GodH430 giveth them: then ye shall returnH7725 unto the landH776 of your possessionH3423, and possessH3423 it, which MosesH4872 the servantH5650 of Jehovah gaveH5414 you beyond the JordanH3383 toward the sunrising. 16And they answered JoshuaH3091, sayingH559, All that thou hast commandedH6680 us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us we will goH7971. 17According as we hearkened unto MosesH4872 in all things, soH3651 will we hearken unto thee: onlyH7535 Jehovah thy GodH430 beH1961 with thee, as he wasH1961 with MosesH4872. 18Whosoever he be that shall rebelH4784 against thy commandment, and shall not hearken unto thy wordsH1697 in all that thou commandest him, he shall be putH4191 to deathH4191: onlyH7535 be strongH2388 and of good courage.
