Ezekiel Chapter 1
American Standard Version
1Now it came to pass in the thirtieth yearH8141, in the fourthH7243monthH2320, in the fifthdayof the monthH2320, as I wasH1961 among the captives by the riverH5104 Chebar, that the heavensH8064 wereH1961 openedH6605, and I sawH7200 visionsH4759 of GodH430. 2In the fifthH2549dayof the monthH2320, which was the fifthH2549 yearH8141 of kingH4428 Jehoiachin’s captivity, 3the wordH1697 of Jehovah came expressly unto EzekielH3168 the priestH3548, the sonH1121 of Buzi, in the landH776 of the ChaldeansH3778 by the riverH5104 Chebar; and the handH3027 of Jehovah wasH1961 there upon him.
4And I lookedH7200, and, behold, a stormy windH7307 cameH935 out of the northH6828, a greatH1419 cloudH6051, with a fireH784 infolding itself, and a brightnessH5051 roundH5439 about it, and out of the midstH8432 thereof as it were glowing metal, out of the midstH8432 of the fireH784. 5And out of the midstH8432 thereof came the likenessH1823 of fourH702 living creatures. And this was their appearanceH4758: they had the likenessH1823 of a manH120; 6and every oneH259 had fourH702 facesH6440, and every oneH259 of them had fourH702 wingsH3671. 7And their feetH7272 were straightH3477 feetH7272; and the soleH3709 of their feetH7272 was like the soleH3709 of a calf’sH5695 footH7272; and they sparkled like burnishedH7044 brass. 8And they had the handsH3027 of a manH120 under their wingsH3671 on their fourH702 sides; and they fourH702 had their facesH6440 and their wingsH3671 thus: 9their wingsH3671 were joinedH2266 oneH376 to another; they turnedH5437 not when they wentH5437; they wentH5437 every oneH376 straight forward. 10As for the likenessH1823 of their facesH6440, they had the faceH6440 of a manH120; and they fourH702 had the faceH6440 of a lionH738 on the rightH3225 sideH3225; and they fourH702 had the faceH6440 of an oxH7794 on the left sideH3225; they fourH702 had also the faceH6440 of an eagleH5404. 11And their facesH6440 and their wingsH3671 were separateH6504 above; twoH8147 wingsH3671 of every oneH376 were joinedH2266 oneH376 to another, and twoH8147 coveredH3680 their bodiesH1472. 12And they wentH5437 every oneH376 straight forward: whither the spiritH7307 wasH1961 to goH5437, they wentH5437; they turnedH5437 not when they wentH5437. 13As for the likenessH1823 of the living creatures, their appearanceH4758 was like burning coalsH1513 of fireH784, like the appearanceH4758 of torchesH3940: the fireH784 wentH1980 up and down among the living creatures; and the fireH784 was bright, and out of the fireH784 wentH1980 forthH3318 lightningH1300. 14And the living creatures ran and returnedH7725 as the appearanceH4758 of a flash of lightning.
15Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold, oneH259 wheelH212 upon the earthH776 beside the living creatures, for each of the fourH702 facesH6440 thereof. 16The appearanceH4758 of the wheelsH212 and their workH4639 wasH1961 like unto a beryl: and they fourH702 had oneH259 likenessH1823; and their appearanceH4758 and their workH4639 wasH1961 as it were a wheelH212 within a wheelH212. 17When they wentH5437, they wentH5437 in their fourH702 directions: they turnedH5437 not when they wentH5437. 18As for their rimsH1354, they were high and dreadful; and they fourH702 had their rimsH1354 fullH4392 of eyesH5869 roundH5439 about. 19And when the living creatures went, the wheelsH212 went beside them; and when the living creatures were liftedH5375 up from the earthH776, the wheelsH212 were liftedH5375 up. 20Whithersoever the spiritH7307 wasH1961 to go, they went; thither wasH1961 the spiritH7307 to go: and the wheelsH212 were liftedH5375 up beside them; for the spiritH7307 of the living creatureH2416 wasH1961 in the wheelsH212. 21When those went, these went; and when those stoodH5975, these stoodH5975; and when those were liftedH5375 up from the earthH776, the wheelsH212 were liftedH5375 up beside them: for the spiritH7307 of the living creatureH2416 was in the wheelsH212.
22And over the headH7218 of the living creatureH2416 there was the likenessH1823 of a firmamentH7549, like the terrible crystal to look upon, stretchedH5186 forth over their headsH7218 above. 23And under the firmamentH7549 were their wingsH3671 straightH3477, the oneH376 toward the other: every oneH376 had twoH8147 which coveredH3680 on this side, and every oneH376 had twoH8147 which coveredH3680 on that side, their bodiesH1472. 24And when they went, I heardH8085 the noise of their wingsH3671 like the noise of greatH7227 watersH4325, like the voiceH6963 of the AlmightyH7706, a noise of tumult like the noise of a host: when they stoodH5975, they let down their wingsH3671. 25And there wasH1961 a voiceH6963 above the firmamentH7549 that wasH1961 over their headsH7218: when they stoodH5975, they let down their wingsH3671.
26And above the firmamentH7549 that was over their headsH7218 was the likenessH1823 of a throneH3678, as the appearanceH4758 of a sapphireH5601 stoneH68; and upon the likenessH1823 of the throneH3678 was a likenessH1823 as the appearanceH4758 of a manH120 upon it above. 27And I sawH7200 as it were glowing metal, as the appearanceH4758 of fireH784 within it roundH5439 about, from the appearanceH4758 of his loinsH4975 and upwardH4605; and from the appearanceH4758 of his loinsH4975 and downwardH4295 I sawH7200 as it were the appearanceH4758 of fireH784, and there was brightnessH5051 roundH5439 about him. 28As the appearanceH4758 of the bowH7198 that is in the cloudH6051 in the dayH3117 of rainH1653, soH3651 wasH1961 the appearanceH4758 of the brightnessH5051 roundH5439 about. This wasH1961 the appearanceH4758 of the likenessH1823 of the gloryH3519 of Jehovah. And when I sawH7200 it, I fellH5307 upon my faceH6440, and I heardH8085 a voiceH6963 of one that spake.
