1WhenG5613 thereforeG3767 the Lord knewG1097 that the PhariseesG5330 had heardG191 that JesusG2424 was makingG4160 and baptizingG907 moreG4183 disciplesG3101 than JohnG2491 2(although JesusG2424 himself baptizedG907 not, but his disciplesG3101), 3he leftG863 Judæa, and departedG565 againG3825 into GalileeG1056. 4And he must needs passG1330 through SamariaG4540. 5So he cometh to a cityG4172 of SamariaG4540, called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that JacobG2384 gaveG1325 to his sonG5207 JosephG2501: 6and Jacob’s wellG4077 wasG1510 there. JesusG2424 thereforeG3767, beingG1510 wearied with his journey, sat thus by the wellG4077. It wasG1510 about the sixthG1623 hourG5610. 7There cometh a womanG1135 of SamariaG4540 to drawG501 waterG5204: JesusG2424 saith unto her, GiveG1325 me to drinkG4095. 8For his disciplesG3101 were goneG565 awayG565 into the cityG4172 to buyG59 foodG5160. 9The SamaritanG4542 womanG1135 thereforeG3767 saith unto him, HowG4459 isG1510 it that thou, beingG1510 a JewG2453, askest drinkG4095 of me, who amG1510 a SamaritanG4542 womanG1135? 27And upon this cameG2064 his disciplesG3101; and they marvelled that he was speakingG2980 with a womanG1135; yet no manG3778 saidG3004, What seekest thou? or, WhyG5101 speakest thou with her? 28So the womanG1135 leftG863 her waterpot, and wentG565 awayG565 into the cityG4172, and saith to the people, 29ComeG1205, seeG3708 a manG444, who toldG3004 me all thingsG3778 that ever I did: can this beG1510 the ChristG5547? 30They wentG1831 out of the cityG4172, and were comingG2064 to him. 31In the mean while the disciplesG3101 prayed him, sayingG3004, RabbiG4461, eatG2068. 32But he saidG3004 unto them, I have meat to eatG2068 that ye know not. 33The disciplesG3101 thereforeG3767 saidG3004 oneG240 to another, Hath any man broughtG5342 him aught to eatG2068? 34JesusG2424 saith unto them, My meat isG1510 to do the will of him that sentG3992 me, and to accomplish his workG2041. 35SayG3004 not ye, There areG1510 yet four months, and then cometh the harvestG2326? beholdG2400, I sayG3004 unto you, LiftG1869 up your eyesG3788, and look on the fieldsG5561, that they areG1510 whiteG3022 alreadyG2235 unto harvestG2326. 36He that reapeth receiveth wagesG3408, and gathereth fruitG2590 unto lifeG2222 eternalG166; that he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoiceG5463 togetherG4863. 37For herein isG1510 the sayingG3056 trueG228, OneG3778 soweth, and another reapeth. 38I sentG649 you to reapG2325 that whereon ye have not laboredG2872: othersG243 have laboredG2872, and ye are enteredG1525 into their laborG2873.

39And from that cityG4172 manyG4183 of the SamaritansG4541 believedG4100 on him because of the wordG3056 of the womanG1135, who testifiedG3140, He toldG3004 me all thingsG3956 thateverI did. 40So whenG5613 the SamaritansG4541 cameG2064 unto him, they besought him to abideG3306 with them: and he abode there twoG1417 daysG2250. 41And manyG4183 moreG4183 believedG4100 because of his wordG3056; 42and they saidG3004 to the womanG1135, Now we believeG4100, not because of thy speakingG3004: for we have heardG191 for ourselves, and know that this isG1510 indeed the Saviour of the worldG2889.

43And after the twoG1417 daysG2250 he wentG1831 forthG1831 from thence into GalileeG1056. 44For JesusG2424 himself testifiedG3140, that a prophetG4396 hath no honorG5092 in his ownG2398 country. 45So whenG3753 he cameG2064 into GalileeG1056, the Galilæans receivedG1209 him, having seenG3708 all the thingsG3956 that he did in JerusalemG2414 at the feastG1859: for they alsoG2532 went unto the feastG1859.

46He cameG2064 thereforeG3767 againG3825 unto CanaG2580 of GalileeG1056, whereG3699 he madeG4160 the waterG5204 wineG3631. And there wasG1510 a certain nobleman, whose sonG5207 wasG1510 sickG770 at CapernaumG2584. 47When he heardG191 that JesusG2424 was comeG2240 out of Judæa into GalileeG1056, he wentG565 unto him, and besought him that he would comeG2240 down, and healG2390 his sonG5207; for he was at the point of death. 48JesusG2424 thereforeG3767 saidG3004 unto him, Except ye seeG3708 signsG4592 and wondersG5059, ye will in no wise believeG4100. 49The nobleman saith unto him, SirG2962, comeG2597 down ere my childG3813 dieG599. 50JesusG2424 saith unto him, GoG4198 thy way; thy sonG5207 liveth. The manG444 believedG4100 the wordG3056 that JesusG2424 spake unto him, and he wentG4198 his way. 51And as he was nowG1161 goingG2597 downG2597, his servantsG1401 met him, sayingG3004, that his son livedG2198. 52So he inquiredG4441 of them the hourG5610 when he began to amend. They saidG3004 thereforeG3767 unto him, YesterdayG5504 at the seventhG1442 hourG5610 the feverG4446 leftG863 him. 53So the fatherG3962 knewG1097 that it was at that hourG5610 in which JesusG2424 saidG3004 unto him, Thy sonG5207 liveth: and himself believedG4100, and his wholeG3650 houseG3614. 54This is againG3825 the secondG1208 signG4592 that JesusG2424 did, having comeG2064 out of Judæa into GalileeG1056.
