Jesus’ Warning

2They willbanποιήσουσινpoiēsousinG4160 G656you fromG656theG656synagogueG656,yetἀλλ᾽all᾽G235an hourὥραhōraG5610is comingἔρχεταιerchetaiG2064for everyoneπᾶςpasG3956who killsἀποκτείναςapokteinasG615you to thinkδόξῃdoxēG1380that he is offeringπροσφέρεινprosphereinG4374aserviceλατρείανlatreianG2999to Godθεῷ.theōG2316.

3TheseG3778thingsταῦταtautaG3778they will doποιήσουσινpoiēsousinG4160becauseὅτιhotiG3754they have not knownἔγνωσανegnōsanG1097the FatherπατέραpateraG3962norοὐδὲoudeG3761Me.

4But theseG3778thingsταῦταtautaG3778I have spokenλελάληκαlelalēkaG2980to you,soἵναinaG2443thatG2443whenὅτανhotanG3752their hourὥραhōraG5610comesἔλθῃelthēG2064, youmay rememberμνημονεύητεmnēmoneuēteG3421that I toldG3004you of them. HoweverδὲdeG1161,I did not sayG3004theseG3778thingsταῦταtautaG3778to youat the beginningἀρχῆςarchēsG746,becauseG3754I was with you.

5“But nowνῦνnunG3568I am goingὑπάγωhupagōG5217to Him who sentπέμψαντάpempsantaG3992Me; and noneοὐδεὶςoudeisG3762of you asksἐρωτᾷerōtaG2065Me, ‘WhereποῦpouG4226are You goingὑπάγεις;hupageisG5217?’

6But becauseὅτιhotiG3754I have saidλελάληκαlelalēkaG2980theseG3778thingsταῦταtautaG3778to you,griefλύπηlupēG3077has filledπεπλήρωκενpeplērōkenG4137your heartκαρδίαν.kardianG2588.

7But I tellλέγωlegōG3004you the truthἀλήθειανalētheianG225:it isG4851toG4851your advantageG4851that I am leavingἀπέλθω·apelthōG565;for ifἐὰνeanG1437I do not leaveἀπέλθω,apelthōG565, theHelperπαράκλητοςparaklētosG3875will not comeἐλεύσεταιeleusetaiG2064to you; but ifἐὰνeanG1437I goπορευθῶ,poreuthōG4198,I will sendπέμψωpempsōG3992Him to you.

8And He, when He comesἐλθὼνelthōnG2064,will convictἐλέγξειelegxeiG1651the worldκόσμονkosmonG2889regardingG4012sinἁμαρτίαςhamartiasG266,and righteousnessδικαιοσύνηςdikaiosunēsG1343,and judgmentκρίσεως.kriseōsG2920:

9regardingπερὶperiG4012sinἁμαρτίαςhamartiasG266,becauseὅτιhotiG3754they do not believeπιστεύουσινpisteuousinG4100in Me;

10and regardingπερὶperiG4012righteousnessδικαιοσύνηςdikaiosunēsG1343,becauseὅτιhotiG3754I am goingὑπάγω,hupagōG5217to the FatherπατέραpateraG3962and you noG3765longerG3765are going toseeθεωρεῖτέtheōreiteG2334Me;

11and regardingπερὶperiG4012judgmentκρίσεως,kriseōsG2920,becauseὅτιhotiG3754the rulerἄρχωνarchōnG758of thisτούτουtoutouG3778worldκόσμουkosmouG2889has been judgedκέκριται.¶kekritaiG2919.

12“I haveἔχωechōG2192manyπολλὰpollaG4183moreἜτιEtiG2089thingsG4183to sayλέγειν,legeinG3004to you, but you cannotοὐ δύνασθεou dunastheG1410 G3756bearβαστάζεινbastazeinG941themat the presentG737timeG737.

13But whenὅτανhotanG3752He,the SpiritπνεῦμαpneumaG4151of truthἀληθείας,alētheiasG225,comesἔλθῃelthēG2064, He willguideὁδηγήσειhodēgēseiG3594you into allπάσῃ.pasēG3956the truthἀληθείᾳalētheiaG225;for He will not speakλαλήσειlalēseiG2980on His ownἑαυτοῦ,he'autouG1438,but whateverὅσαhosaG3745He hearsἀκούσειakouseiG191,He will speakλαλήσειlalēseiG2980;and He will discloseἀναγγελεῖanangeleiG312to you what is to comeἐρχόμεναerchomenaG2064.

14He willglorifyδοξάσει,doxaseiG1392Me, for He will takeλήμψεταιlēmpsetaiG2983from MineG1699and will discloseἀναγγελεῖanangeleiG312it to you.

15AllG3956thingsΠάνταPantaG3956that the FatherπατὴρpatērG3962hasἔχειecheiG2192are MineG1699;thisτοῦτοtoutoG3778is whyδιὰdiaG1223I saidG3004that He takesλαμβάνειlambaneiG2983from MineG1699and will discloseἀναγγελεῖanangeleiG312it to you.

17SoοὖνounG3767someG1537ofG1537His disciplesμαθητῶνmathētōnG3101saidλέγειlegeiG3004to oneἀλλήλους·allēlousG240anotherG240, “WhatτίtiG5101is thisτοῦτοtoutoG3778that He is tellingG3004us, ‘A littleμικρὸνmikronG3398whileG3398, and you are not going toseeG3708Me; and againπάλινpalinG3825a littleμικρὸνmikronG3398whileG3398,and you will seeG3708Me’; and,‘becauseὅτιhotiG3754I am goingὑπάγωhupagōG5217to the Fatherπατέρα;pateraG3962’?”

18Soοὖν·ounG3767they were sayingἔλεγονelegonG3004, “WhatτίtiG5101is thisτοῦτοtoutoG3778that He saysλέγειlegeiG3004,‘A littleμικρόν;mikronG3398whileG3398’?We do not knowG3609whatτίtiG5101He is talkingλαλεῖ.¶laleiG2980about.”

19JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424knewἜγνωEgnōG1097that they wantedἤθελονēthelonG2309to questionἐρωτᾶν,erōtanG2065Him, and He saidG3004to them,“Are you deliberatingζητεῖτεzēteiteG2212togetherμετ᾽ ἀλλήλωνmet᾽ allēlōnG3326 G240aboutπερὶperiG4012thisτούτουtoutouG3778,that I saidG3004, ‘A littleμικρὸνmikronG3398whileG3398, and you are not going toseeG3708Me, and againπάλινpalinG3825a littleμικρὸνmikronG3398whileG3398,and you will seeG3708Me’?

32BeholdἰδοὺidouG2400,an hourὥραhōraG5610is comingἔρχεταιerchetaiG2064, and has alreadycomeἐλήλυθενelēluthenG2064, foryou to be scatteredσκορπισθῆτεskorpisthēteG4650,eachἕκαστοςhekastosG1538tohis ownἴδιαidiaG2398home,and to leaveἀφῆτε·aphēteG863Me aloneμόνονmononG3441; and yetI amG1510not aloneμόνος,monosG3441,becauseὅτιhotiG3754the FatherπατὴρpatērG3962is with Me.
