Jesus Comforts His Disciples

1“Do not let your heartκαρδία·kardiaG2588be troubledταρασσέσθωtarassesthōG5015;believeπιστεύετεpisteueteG4100in GodθεὸνtheonG2316,believeπιστεύετε.pisteueteG4100alsoκαὶkaiG2532in Me.

2In My Father’sπατρόςpatrosG3962houseοἰκίᾳoikiaG3614are manyπολλαίpollaiG4183roomsμοναὶmonaiG3438;ifεἰeiG1487that were not so,I would have toldG3004you, becauseὅτιhotiG3754I am goingπορεύομαιporeuomaiG4198thereto prepareἑτοιμάσαιhetoimasaiG2090a placeτόπονtoponG5117for you.

3And ifἐὰνeanG1437I goπορευθῶporeuthōG4198and prepareἑτοιμάσωhetoimasōG2090a placeτόπονtoponG5117for you,I am comingἔρχομαιerchomaiG2064againπάλινpalinG3825and will takeπαραλήμψομαιparalēmpsomaiG3880you to MyselfG1683,soG2443thatG2443whereὅπουhopouG3699I amG1510, thereyou alsoG2532will be.

4And you knowG3609the wayὁδόνhodonG3598whereὅπουhopouG3699I am goingὑπάγωhupagōG5217.”

6JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424saidλέγειlegeiG3004to him,“I amεἰμιeimiG1510the wayὁδὸςhodosG3598, andthe truthἀλήθειαalētheiaG225, andthe lifeζωή.zōēG2222;noG3762oneοὐδεὶςoudeisG3762comesἔρχεταιerchetaiG2064to the FatherπατέραpateraG3962exceptεἰ μὴei mēG1487 G3361throughδι᾽di᾽G1223Me.

7IfεἰeiG1487youhad knownG1097Me, you would have knownG3609My FatherπατέραpateraG3962alsoG2532;from nowἄρτιartiG737on youknowG1097Him, and haveseenἑωράκατεhe'ōrakateG3708Him.”

8PhilipΦίλιππος·PhilipposG5376saidλέγειlegeiG3004to Him, “Lordκύριε,kurieG2962,showδεῖξονdeixonG1166us the Fatherπατέρα,pateraG3962,and it is enoughἀρκεῖarkeiG714for us.”

9JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424saidλέγειlegeiG3004to him,“Have I beenεἰμι,eimiG1510withyou for soτοσούτῳtosoutōG5118longG5118a timeχρόνῳchronōG5550, and yetyou have not come to knowἔγνωκάςegnōkasG1097Me, PhilipΦίλιππε;PhilippeG5376?The one who has seenἑωρακὼςhe'ōrakōsG3708Me has seenἑώρακενhe'ōrakenG3708the Fatherπατέρα·pateraG3962;howπῶςpōsG4459canyou sayλέγεις·legeisG3004, ‘ShowδεῖξονdeixonG1166us the Fatherπατέρα;pateraG3962’?

10Do you not believeπιστεύειςpisteueisG4100thatI am in the FatherπατρὶpatriG3962,and the FatherπατὴρpatērG3962is in Me?The wordsῥήματαrhēmataG4487that I sayλέγωlegōG3004to you I do not speakλαλῶ·lalōG2980on My ownG1683,but the FatherπατὴρpatērG3962,as He remainsμένωνmenōnG3306in Me, doesποιεῖpoieiG4160His worksἔργαergaG2041.

11BelieveπιστεύετέpisteueteG4100Me thatI am in the FatherπατρὶpatriG3962and the FatherπατὴρpatērG3962is in Me; otherwiseG1490believeπιστεύετεpisteueteG4100becauseδιὰdiaG1223of the worksἔργαergaG2041themselvesαὐτὰautaG846.

12TrulyἈμὴνAmēnG281,trulyἀμὴνamēnG281I sayλέγωlegōG3004to you, the one who believesπιστεύωνpisteuōnG4100in Me, the worksἔργαergaG2041that I doποιῶpoiōG4160,he will doποιήσειpoiēseiG4160alsoG2548; andgreaterμείζοναmeizonaG3173worksthan theseτούτωνtoutōnG3778he will doποιήσει,poiēseiG4160;becauseὅτιhotiG3754I am goingπορεύομαι.poreuomaiG4198to the FatherπατέραpateraG3962.

13AndwhateverὅhoG3739you askαἰτήσητεaitēsēteG154in My nameὀνόματίonomatiG3686,thisτοῦτοtoutoG3778I will doποιήσω,poiēsōG4160,soἵναinaG2443thatG2443the FatherπατὴρpatērG3962may be glorifiedδοξασθῇdoxasthēaG1392in the Sonυἱῷ.huiōG5207.

14IfἐάνeanG1437you askαἰτήσητέaitēsēteG154Me anythingτιtiG5100in My nameὀνόματίonomatiG3686,I will doποιήσω.¶poiēsōG4160it.

18“I will not leaveἀφήσωaphēsōG863you as orphansὀρφανούς,orphanousG3737;I am comingἔρχομαιerchomaiG2064to you.

19AfterG2089a littleμικρὸνmikronG3398whileG3398,the worldκόσμοςkosmosG2889noG3765longerG3765is going toseeθεωρεῖ,theōreiG2334Me, but you are going toseeθεωρεῖτέtheōreiteG2334Me;becauseὅτιhotiG3754I liveζῶ,zōG2198,you alsoG2532will liveζήσετε.zēseteG2198.

20On that dayἡμέρᾳhēmeraG2250you will knowγνώσεσθεgnōsestheG1097that I amin My FatherπατρίpatriG3962, and you are in Me, and I in you.

21The one who hasἔχωνechōnG2192My commandmentsἐντολάςentolasG1785and keepsτηρῶνtērōnG5083them is the oneἐκεῖνόςekeinosG1565who lovesἀγαπῶνagapōnG25Me; andthe one who lovesἀγαπῶνagapōnG25Me will be lovedἀγαπηθήσεταιagapēthēsetaiG25by My FatherπατρόςpatrosG3962,and I will loveἀγαπήσωagapēsōG25him and willrevealἐμφανίσωemphanisōG1718MyselfG1683to him.”

22JudasἸούδαςIoudasG2455(not IscariotἸσκαριώτης·IskariōtēsG2469)saidΛέγειLegeiG3004to Him, “Lordκύριε,kurieG2962,whatτίtiG5101has happenedγέγονενgegonenG1096that You areG3195goingG3195toG3195revealἐμφανίζεινemphanizeinG1718YourselfG4572to us and not to the worldκόσμῳ;¶kosmōG2889?”

24The one who does not loveἀγαπῶνagapōnG25Medoes not followτηρεῖ·tēreiG5083My wordsλόγουςlogousG3056; andthe wordλόγοςlogosG3056whichὃνhonG3739you hearἀκούετεakoueteG191is not MineG1699,but the Father’sπατρός.¶patrosG3962who sentπέμψαντόςpempsantosG3992Me.

25“TheseG3778thingsΤαῦταTautaG3778I have spokenλελάληκαlelalēkaG2980to you while remainingμένων·menōnG3306with you.

26But theHelperπαράκλητος,paraklētosG3875,the HolyἅγιονhagionG40SpiritπνεῦμαpneumaG4151whomG3739the FatherπατὴρpatērG3962will sendπέμψειpempseiG3992in My nameὀνόματίonomatiG3686,He will teachδιδάξειdidaxeiG1321you allG3956thingsG3956, andremindὑπομνήσειhupomnēseiG5279you of allG3956that I saidG3004to you.

29And nowνῦνnunG3568I have toldG3004you beforeπρὶνprinG4250it happensγενέσθαι,genesthaiG1096,soG2443thatG2443whenὅτανhotanG3752it happensγένηται,genētaiG1096,you may believeπιστεύσητε.¶pisteusēteG4100.
