Isaiah 48

1“ListenH8085 to thisH2063, O houseH1004 of JacobH3290, you who are calledH7121 by the nameH8034 of IsraelH3478, who have descendedH3318 from the lineH4325 of JudahH3063, who swearH7650 by the nameH8034 of the LORDH3068, who invokeH2142 the GodH430 of IsraelH3478— but notH3808 in truthH571 or righteousnessH6666—2who indeedH3588 call yourselvesH7121 after the holyH6944 cityH5892 and leanH5564 onH5921 the GodH430 of IsraelH3478; the LORDH3068 of HostsH6635 is His nameH8034.

3I foretoldH5046 the former thingsH7223 long agoH227;they cameH3318 out of My mouthH6310 and I proclaimed themH8085.SuddenlyH6597 I actedH6213, and they came to passH935.4For I knewH3045 thatH3588 youH859H1517 are stubbornH7186;your neckH6203 is ironH1270 and your foreheadH4696 is bronzeH5154.5Therefore I declared itH5046 to you long agoH227;I announced itH8085 beforeH2962 it came to passH935,so that you could notH6435 claimH559, ‘My idolH6090 has done thisH6213;my carved imageH6459 and molten godH5262 has ordained itH6680.’6You have heardH8085 these things; look at themH2372 allH3605.Will youH859 notH3808 acknowledgeH5046 them?
From now onH6258 I will tell you ofH8085 new thingsH2319,hidden thingsH5341 unknown to youH3808H3045.7They are createdH1254 nowH6258, and notH3808 long agoH227;you have notH3808 heard of themH8085 beforeH6440 todayH3117.So you cannotH6435 claimH559,‘I alreadyH2009 knew themH3045!’8You have neverH3808 heardH8085H1571; you have neverH3808 understoodH3045H1571;for a long timeH227 your earsH241 have notH3808 been openH6605.ForH3588 I knewH3045 how deceitful you areH898;you have been calledH7121 a rebelH6586 from birthH990.
9For the sakeH4616 of My nameH8034 I will delayH748 My wrathH639;for the sake of My praiseH8416 I will restrain itH2413,so that you will notH1115 be cut offH3772.10SeeH2009, I have refined youH6884, but notH3808 as silverH3701;I have testedH977 you in the furnaceH3564 of afflictionH6040.

Deliverance Promised to Israel

11For My own sakeH4616, My very own sakeH4616, I will actH6213; forH3588 howH349 can I let Myself be defamedH2490? I will notH3808 yieldH5414 My gloryH3519 to anotherH312.

12ListenH8085 to MeH413, O JacobH3290,and IsraelH3478, whom I have calledH7121:IH589 am HeH1931; IH589 am the firstH7223,and I amH589H637 the lastH314.13SurelyH637 My own handH3027 foundedH3245 the earthH776,and My right handH3225 spread outH2946 the heavensH8064;when IH589H413 summon themH7121,they stand upH5975 togetherH3162.14Come togetherH6908, all of youH3605, and listenH8085:WhichH4310 of the idols has foretoldH5046 these thingsH428?The LORD’sH3068 chosen allyH157 will carry outH6213 His desireH2656 against BabylonH894,and His armH2220 will be against the ChaldeansH3778.115IH589, even IH589, have spokenH1696;yesH637, I have called himH7121.I have brought himH935,and he will succeedH6743 in his missionH1870.
16Come nearH7126 to MeH413 and listenH8085 to thisH2063:
From the beginningH7218 I have notH3808 spokenH1696 in secretH5643;from the timeH6256 it happenedH1961, IH589 was thereH8033.”
And nowH6258 the LordH136 GODH3069 has sent meH7971,accompanied by His SpiritH7307.
17ThusH3541 saysH559 the LORDH3068 your RedeemerH1350,the HolyH6918 One of IsraelH3478:
“IH589 am the LORDH3068 your GodH430,who teachesH3925 you for your benefitH3276,who directsH1869 you in the wayH1870 you should goH1980.18If onlyH3863 you had paid attentionH7181 to My commandmentsH4687,your peaceH7965 would have beenH1961 like a riverH5104,and your righteousnessH6666 like wavesH1530 of the seaH3220.19Your descendantsH2233 would have beenH1961 as countless as the sandH2344,and your offspringH6631H4578 as numerous as its grainsH4579;2their nameH8034 would neverH3808 be cut offH3772H3808or eliminatedH8045 from My presenceH6440.”
20LeaveH3318 BabylonH894!FleeH1272 from the ChaldeansH3778!Declare itH5046 with a shoutH6963 of joyH7440,proclaimH8085 itH2063,let it go outH3318 toH5704 the endsH7097 of the earthH776, sayingH559,“The LORDH3068 has redeemedH1350 His servantH5650 JacobH3290!”21They did notH3808 thirstH6770 when He led themH1980 through the desertsH2723;He made waterH4325 flowH5140 for them from the rockH6697;He splitH1234 the rockH6697, and waterH4325 gushed outH2100.
22“There is noH369 peaceH7965,” saysH559 the LORDH3068,“for the wickedH7563.”
