Israel’s Obstinacy
1“1HearH8085 thisH2088, O houseH1004 of JacobH3290, who are namedH7121H8034 IsraelH3478 And who cameH3318 forthH3318 from the 23loinsH4325 of JudahH3063, Who 4swearH7650 by the nameH8034 of the LordH3068 And invokeH2142 the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, But not in truthH571 norH3808 in 5righteousnessH6666.2For they callH7121 themselves afterH4480 the 6holyH6944 cityH5892 And 7leanH5564 on the GodH430 of IsraelH3478; The LordH3068 of hostsH6635 is His nameH8034.3I 8declaredH5046 the formerH7223 thingsH7223 longH3975 agoH3975 And they wentH3318 forthH3318 from My mouthH6310, and I proclaimedH8085 them. 9SuddenlyH6597 I actedH6213, and they 10cameH935 to passH935.4BecauseH4480 I knowH3045 that you are 1112obstinateH7186, And your 13neckH6203 is an ironH1270 sinewH1517 And your 14foreheadH4696 bronzeH5154,5Therefore I declaredH5046 them to you longH3975 agoH3975, BeforeH2962 15they tookH935 placeH935 I proclaimedH8085 them to you, So that you would not sayH559, ‘My 16idolH6090 has doneH6213 them, And my gravenH6459 imageH6459 and my moltenH5262 imageH5262 have commandedH6680 them.’6You have heardH8085; lookH2372 at allH3605 this. And you, will you not declareH5046 it? I proclaimH8085 to you 17newH2319 thingsH2319 from thisH6258 timeH6258, Even hiddenH5341 thingsH5341 which you have not knownH3045.7They are createdH1254 nowH6258 and not longH3975 agoH3975; And beforeH6440 todayH3117 you have not heardH8085 them, So that you will not sayH559, ‘BeholdH2009, I knewH3045 them.’8You have not 18heardH8085, you have not knownH3045. EvenH1571 from longH3975 agoH3975 your earH241 has not been openH6605, BecauseH3588 I knewH3045 that you would dealH898 veryH898 treacherouslyH898; And you have been calledH7121 a 1920rebelH6586 from 21birthH990.922For the sakeH4616 of My nameH8034 I 23delayH748 My wrathH639, And for My praiseH8416 I restrainH2413 it for you, In order not to cutH3772 you offH3772.10BeholdH2009, I have refinedH6884 you, but 24not as silverH3701; I have testedH977 you in the 25furnaceH3564 of afflictionH6040.1126For My own sakeH4616, for My own sakeH4616, I will actH6213; For howH349 can My name be profanedH2490? And My 27gloryH3519 I will not giveH5414 to anotherH312.
Deliverance Promised
12“ListenH8085 to Me, O JacobH3290, even IsraelH3478 28whom I calledH7121; 29I am He, 30I am the firstH7223, I am alsoH637 the lastH314.13SurelyH637 My handH3027 31foundedH3245 the earthH776, And My rightH3225 handH3225 spreadH2946 out the heavensH8064; When I 32callH7121 to them, they standH5975 togetherH3164.1433AssembleH6908, allH3605 of you, and listenH8085! 34WhoH4310 among them has declaredH5046 theseH428 thingsH428? The LordH3068 lovesH157 him; he will 35carryH6213 out His goodH2656 pleasureH2656 on 36BabylonH894, And His armH2220 will be against the ChaldeansH3778.15I, even I, have spokenH1696; indeedH637 I have 37calledH7121 him, I have broughtH935 him, and He will makeH6743 his waysH1870 successfulH6743.1638ComeH7126 nearH7126 to Me, listenH8085 to thisH2088: From the firstH7218 I have 39not spokenH1696 in secretH5643, 40From the timeH6256 it tookH1961 placeH1961, I was thereH8033. And nowH6258 41the LordH136 42GodH3068 has sentH7971 Me, and His SpiritH7307.”
17ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068, your 43RedeemerH1350, the HolyH6918 OneH6918 of IsraelH3478, “I am the LordH3068 your GodH430, who teachesH3925 you to profitH3276, Who 44leadsH1869 you in the wayH1870 you should goH1980.18IfH3863 onlyH3863 you had 45paidH7181 attentionH7181 to My commandmentsH4687! Then your 4647well-beingH7965 would have beenH1961 like a riverH5104, And your 48righteousnessH6666 like the wavesH1530 of the seaH3220.19Your 4950descendantsH2233 would have beenH1961 like the sandH2344, And 51your offspringH6631H4578 like its grainsH4579; 52Their nameH8034 would neverH3808 be cutH3772 offH3772 or destroyedH8045 from My presenceH6440.”
2053GoH3318 forthH3318 from BabylonH894! FleeH1272 from the ChaldeansH3778! DeclareH5046 with the soundH6963 of 54joyfulH7440 shoutingH7440, proclaimH8085 thisH2088, 55SendH3318 it out to the endH7097 of the earthH776; SayH559, “56The LordH3068 has redeemedH1350 His servantH5650 JacobH3290.”21They did not 57thirstH6770 when He ledH1980 them through the desertsH2723. He 58made the waterH4325 flowH5140 out of the rockH6697 for them; He splitH1234 the rockH6697 and 59the waterH4325 gushedH2100 forth.22“60ThereH369 is noH369 peaceH7965 for the wickedH7563,” saysH559 the LordH3068.
