Isaiah 44
Revised Version 1895
1Yet nowH6258 hearH8085, O JacobH3290 my servantH5650; and IsraelH3478, whom I have chosenH977: 2ThusH3541 saith the LORDH3068 that madeH6213 thee, and formedH3335 thee from the wombH990, who will helpH5826 thee: FearH3372 notH408, O JacobH3290 my servantH5650; and thou, JeshurunH3484, whom I have chosenH977. 3For I will pourH3332 waterH4325 uponH5921 him that is thirstyH6771, and streamsH5140 uponH5921 the dryH3004 groundH3004: I will pourH3332 my spiritH7307 uponH5921 thy seedH2233, and my blessingH1293 uponH5921 thine offspringH2233: 4and they shall springH6779 upH5921 among the grassH2682, as willowsH6155 by the watercourses. 5One shall sayH559, I am the LORD’SH3068; and anotherH2088 shall callH7121 himselfH3027 by the nameH8034 of JacobH3290; and anotherH2088 shall subscribe with his handH3027 unto the LORDH3068, and surname himselfH3027 by the nameH8034 of IsraelH3478. 6ThusH3541 saith the LORDH3068, the KingH4428 of IsraelH3478, and his redeemerH1350 the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635: I am the firstH7223, and I am the lastH314; and beside meH589 there is noH369 GodH430. 7And who, as I, shall callH7121, and shall declareH5046 it, and setH7760 it in order for meH5046, sinceH834 I appointedH7760 the ancientH5769 peopleH5971? and the things that are comingH935, and that shall comeH935 to passH935, letH5046 them declareH5046. 8FearH6342 ye notH3808, neitherH3808 be afraidH6342: have I notH3808 declaredH5046 unto thee of old, and shewed it? and ye are my witnessesH5707. Is there a GodH433 beside meH5046? yea, there is noH3808 RockH6697; I knowH3045 notH3808 anyH3426. 9They that fashionH3335 a gravenH6459 imageH6459 are allH3605 of them vanity; and their delectable things shall notH3045 profitH3276: and their own witnessesH5707 seeH7200 notH3045, norH1077 knowH3045; that they may be ashamedH954. 10Who hath fashionedH3335 a godH410, or molten a gravenH6459 imageH6459 that is profitableH3276 for nothingH1115? 11BeholdH2005, allH3605 his fellowsH2270 shall be ashamedH954; and the workmen, they are of menH120: let them allH3605 be gatheredH6908 togetherH3162, let them standH5975 upH5975; they shall fearH6342, they shall be ashamedH954 togetherH3162. 12The smithH2796 maketh an axeH1270, and worketh in the coalsH6352, and fashioneth it with hammersH4717, and worketh it with his strongH3581 armH2220: yea, he is hungryH7456, and his strengthH2220 faileth; he drinketh noH3808 waterH4325, and is faint. 13The carpenter stretcheth outH5186 a line; he marketh it outH5186 with a pencil; he shapeth it with planesH4741, and he marketh it outH5186 with the compasses, and shapeth it after the figureH8403 of a manH376, accordingH376 to the beautyH8597 of a manH376, to dwellH3427 in the houseH1004. 14He heweth him downH3772 cedarsH730, and taketh the holm treeH6086 and the oakH437, and strengtheneth for himselfH1431 one among the treesH6086 of the forestH3293: he planteth a fir treeH6086, and the rainH1653 doth nourish it. 15Then shall it be for a manH120 to burnH1197; and he taketh thereof, and warmeth himselfH7812; yea, he kindleth it, and baketh breadH3899: yea, he maketh a godH410, and worshippeth it; he maketh it a gravenH6459 imageH6459, and falleth downH7812 thereto. 16He burneth partH5921 thereof in the fireH784; with partH5921 thereof he eateth fleshH1320; he roasteth roastH6748, and is satisfiedH7646: yea, he warmeth himself, and saith, AhaH1889, I am warmH2552, I have seenH7200 the fireH784: 17And the residue thereof he maketh a godH410, evenH3588 his gravenH6459 imageH6459: he falleth downH7812 unto it and worshippeth, and prayeth unto it, and saith, DeliverH5337 meH413; for thou art my godH410. 18They knowH3045 notH3808, neitherH3808 do they considerH7200: for he hath shut their eyesH5869, that they cannotH3808 seeH7200; and their heartsH3820, that they cannotH3808 understandH995. 19And noneH3808 calleth to mindH3820, neitherH3808 is there knowledgeH1847 norH3808 understandingH8394 to sayH559, I have burnedH8313 partH5921 of it in the fireH784; yea, also I have bakedH644 breadH3899 uponH5921 the coalsH1513 thereof; I have roasted fleshH1320 and eatenH398 it: and shall I makeH6213 the residue thereof an abominationH8441? shall I fallH5456 downH5456 to the stock of a treeH6086? 20He feedeth on ashesH665: a deceived heartH3820 hath turnedH5186 him asideH5186, that he cannotH3808 deliverH5337 his soulH5315, norH3808 sayH559, Is there notH3808 a lieH8267 in my rightH3225 handH3225? 21RememberH2142 theseH428 things, O JacobH3290; and IsraelH3478, for thou art my servantH5650: I have formedH3335 thee; thou art my servantH5650: O IsraelH3478, thou shalt notH3808 be forgottenH5382 of meH5650. 22I have blotted outH413, as a thickH5645 cloudH6051, thy transgressionsH6588, and, as a cloudH6051, thy sinsH2403: returnH7725 unto meH413; for I have redeemedH1350 thee. 23SingH7442, O ye heavensH8064, for the LORDH3068 hath doneH6213 it; shoutH7321, ye lowerH8482 partsH8482 of the earthH776; breakH6476 forthH6476 intoH776 singingH7440, ye mountainsH2022, O forestH3293, and everyH3605 treeH6086 therein: for the LORDH3068 hath redeemedH1350 JacobH3290, and will glorifyH6286 himself in IsraelH3478. 24ThusH3541 saith the LORDH3068, thy redeemerH1350, and he that formedH3335 thee from the wombH990: I am the LORDH3068, that maketh allH3605 things; that stretcheth forth the heavensH8064 aloneH905; that spreadeth abroad the earthH776; who is with meH990? 25that frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh divinersH7080 mad; that turneth wiseH2450 menH2450 backwardH268, and maketh their knowledgeH1847 foolishH5528: 26that confirmeth the wordH1697 of his servantH5650, and performeth the counselH6098 of his messengersH4397; that saith of JerusalemH3389, SheH6965 shall be inhabitedH3427; and of the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063, They shall be builtH1129, and I will raiseH6965 upH6965 the wasteH2723 placesH2723 thereof: 27that saith to the deep, Be dryH3001, and I will dryH3001 upH3001 thy riversH5104: 28That saith of CyrusH3566, He is my shepherdH7473, and shall perform allH3605 my pleasureH2656: even sayingH559 of JerusalemH3389, She shall be builtH1129; and to the templeH1964, Thy foundationH3245 shall be laidH3245.
