Isaiah 44

1But nowH6258 listenH8085, O JacobH3290 My servantH5650, IsraelH3478, whom I have chosenH977.2ThisH3541 is the wordH559 of the LORDH3068, your MakerH6213, who formed youH3335 from the wombH990 and who will help youH5826: “Do notH408 be afraidH3372, O JacobH3290 My servantH5650, JeshurunH3484,1 whom I have chosenH977.3ForH3588 I will pourH3332 waterH4325 onH5921 the thirsty landH6771, and currentsH5140 onH5921 the dry groundH3004. I will pour outH3332 My SpiritH7307 onH5921 your descendantsH2233, and My blessingH1293 onH5921 your offspringH6631.4They will sproutH6779 amongH996 the grassH2682 like willowsH61552 byH5921 flowingH2988 streamsH4325.5OneH2088 will sayH559, ‘IH589 belong to the LORDH3068,’ anotherH2088 will call himselfH7121 by the nameH8034 of JacobH3290, and still anotherH2088 will writeH3789 on his handH3027, ‘The LORD’sH3068,’ and will takeH3655 the nameH8034 of IsraelH3478.”

6ThusH3541 saysH559 the LORDH3068,the KingH4428 and RedeemerH1350 of IsraelH3478, the LORDH3068 of HostsH6635:
“IH589 am the firstH7223 and I amH589 the lastH314,and there is noH369 GodH430 but MeH1107.7Who thenH4310 is like MeH3644?Let him say soH7121!Let him declareH5046 his caseH6186 before Me,since I establishedH7760 an ancientH5769 peopleH5971.Let him foretellH5046 the things to comeH857,and whatH834 is to take placeH935.8Do notH408 trembleH6342 or fearH7297.Have I notH3808 told youH8085 and declared itH5046 long agoH227?YouH859 are My witnessesH5707!Is thereH3426 any GodH433 but MeH1107?There is noH369 other RockH6697;I knowH3045 not oneH1077.”
9AllH3605 makersH3335 of idolsH6459 are nothingH8414,and the things they treasureH2530 are worthlessH1077H3276.Their witnessesH5707H1992 fail toH1077 seeH7200H1077 or comprehendH3045,soH4616 they are put to shameH954.10WhoH4310 fashionsH3335 a godH410 or castsH5258 an idolH6459which profits himH3276 nothingH1115?11BeholdH2005, allH3605 his companionsH2270 will be put to shameH954,for the craftsmenH2796 themselvesH1992 are only humanH120.Let them allH3605 assembleH6908 and take their standH5975;they will allH3162 be brought to terrorH6342 and shameH954.
12The blacksmithH2796H1270 takes a toolH4621and laborsH6466 over the coalsH6352;he fashionsH3335 an idol with hammersH4717and forgesH6466 it with his strongH3581 armsH2220.YetH1571 he grows hungryH7456 and loses his strengthH3581H369;he failsH3808 to drinkH8354 waterH4325 and grows faintH3286.13The woodworkerH2796H6086 extendsH5186 a measuring lineH6957;he marks it outH8388 with a stylusH8279;he shapesH6213 it with chiselsH4741and outlinesH8388 it with a compassH4230.He fashions itH6213 in the likenessH8403 of manH376,like manH120 in all his gloryH8597,that it may dwellH3427 in a shrineH1004.14He cuts downH3772 cedarsH730or retrievesH3947 a cypressH86453 or oakH437.He lets it grow strongH553 among the treesH6086 of the forestH3293.He plantsH5193 a laurelH766, and the rainH1653 makes it growH1431.15It servesH1961 as fuelH1197 for manH120.He takesH3947 some of it to warm himselfH2552,andH637 he kindles a fireH5400and bakesH644 his breadH3899.He alsoH637 fashions itH6466 into a godH410 and worships itH7812;he makesH6213 an idolH6459 and bows downH5456 to it.16He burnsH8313 halfH2677 of it inH1119 the fireH784,and he roastsH6740 meatH1320 onH5921 that halfH2677.He eatsH398 the roastH6748 and is satisfiedH7646.IndeedH637, he warms himselfH2552 and saysH559,“AhH1889! I am warmH2552; I seeH7200 the fireH217.”17From the restH7611 he makesH6213 a godH410, his graven imageH6459.He bows down to itH5456 and worshipsH7812;he praysH6419 to itH413 and saysH559,“Save meH5337, forH3588 youH859 are my godH410.”
18They do notH3808 comprehendH3045 or discernH995,forH3588 He has shutH2902 their eyesH5869 so they cannot seeH7200and closed their mindsH3820 so they cannot understandH7919.19And no oneH3808 considersH7725 inH413 his heartH3820,noH3808 one has the knowledgeH1847H3808 or insightH8394 to sayH559,“I burnedH8313 halfH2677 of it inH1119 the fireH784,and IH637 bakedH644 breadH3899 onH5921 its coalsH1513;I roastedH6740 meatH1320 and I ateH398.Shall I makeH6213 something detestableH8441 with the rest of itH3499?Shall I bow downH5456 to a blockH944 of woodH6086?”

Jerusalem to Be Restored

20He feeds onH7462 ashesH665. His deludedH2048 heartH3820 has led him astrayH5186, and he cannotH3808 deliverH5337 himselfH5315 or sayH559, “Is notH3808 this thing in my right handH3225 a lieH8267?”

21RememberH2142 these thingsH428, O JacobH3290,forH3588 youH859 are My servantH5650, O IsraelH3478.I have made youH3335, and youH859 are My servantH5650;O IsraelH3478, I will neverH3808 forgetH5382 you.22I have blotted outH4229 your transgressionsH6588 like a cloudH5645,and your sinsH2403 like a mistH6051.ReturnH7725 to MeH413, forH3588 I have redeemed youH1350.23Sing for joyH7442, O heavensH8064, forH3588 the LORDH3068 has done thisH6213;shout aloudH7321, O depthsH8482 of the earthH776.Break forthH6476 in songH7440, O mountainsH2022,you forestsH3293 and all yourH3605 treesH6086.ForH3588 the LORDH3068 has redeemedH1350 JacobH3290,and revealed His gloryH6286 in IsraelH3478.
24ThusH3541 saysH559 the LORDH3068,your RedeemerH1350 who formed youH3335 from the wombH990:
“IH595 am the LORDH3068,who has madeH6213 all thingsH3605,who alone stretched outH5186H905 the heavensH8064,who by MyselfH4310 spread outH7554 the earthH776,25who foilsH6565 the signsH226 of false prophetsH907and makes fools ofH1984 divinersH7080,who confoundsH7725H268 the wiseH2450and turns their knowledgeH1847 into nonsenseH5528,26who confirmsH6965 the messageH1697 of His servantH5650and fulfillsH7999 the counselH6098 of His messengersH4397,who saysH559 of JerusalemH3389,‘She will be inhabitedH3427,’and of the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063,‘They will be rebuiltH1129, and I will restoreH6965 their ruinsH2723,’27who saysH559 to the depths of the seaH6683,‘Be dryH2717, and I will dry upH3001 your currentsH5104,’28who saysH559 of CyrusH3566,‘My shepherdH7462 will fulfillH7999 allH3605 that I desireH2656,’who saysH559 of JerusalemH3389,‘She will be rebuiltH1129,’and of the templeH1964,‘Let its foundation be laidH3245.’”
