Acts 18
American Standard Version
1After these thingsG3778 he departedG5563 from AthensG116, and cameG2064 to CorinthG2882. 2And he foundG2147 a certainG5100 JewG2453 namedG3686 AquilaG207, a man of Pontus by raceG1085, lately comeG2064 from ItalyG2482, with his wifeG1135 PriscillaG4252, because ClaudiusG2804 had commandedG1299 all the JewsG2453 to depart from RomeG4516: and he cameG2064 unto them; 3and because he wasG1510 of the sameG846 trade, he abode with them, and they wrought; for by their trade they wereG1510 tentmakers. 4And he reasonedG1256 in the synagogueG4864 every sabbathG4521, and persuadedG3982 JewsG2453 and GreeksG1672.
5But whenG5613 SilasG4609 and TimothyG5095 cameG2718 downG2718 from MacedoniaG3109, PaulG3972 wasG1510 constrained by the wordG3056, testifyingG1263 to the JewsG2453 that JesusG2424 wasG1510 the ChristG5547. 6And when they opposed themselves and blasphemedG987, he shookG1621 out his raiment and saidG3004 unto them, Your bloodG129 be upon your ownG1438 headsG2776; I am cleanG2513: from henceforth I will goG4198 unto the GentilesG1484. 7And he departedG3327 thence, and wentG1525 into the houseG3614 of a certainG5100 man namedG3686 TitusG5103 JustusG2459, oneG5100 that worshipped GodG2316, whose houseG3614 joined hard to the synagogueG4864. 8And CrispusG2921, the ruler of the synagogueG752, believedG4100 in the LordG2962 with all his houseG3624; and manyG4183 of the CorinthiansG2881 hearingG191 believedG4100, and were baptizedG907. 9And the LordG2962 saidG3004 unto PaulG3972 in the nightG3571 by a visionG3705, Be not afraidG5399, but speakG2980 and hold not thy peace: 10for I amG1510 with thee, and no manG3778 shall set on thee to harmG2559 thee: for I have muchG4183 peopleG2992 in this cityG4172. 11And he dwelt there a yearG1763 and sixG1803 monthsG3376, teachingG1321 the wordG3056 of GodG2316 among them.
12But when GallioG1058 wasG1510 proconsulG446 of AchaiaG882, the JewsG2453 with oneG3661 accordG3661 rose up against PaulG3972 and broughtG71 him before the judgment-seat, 13sayingG3004, This manG444 persuadeth menG444 to worshipG4576 GodG2316 contraryG3844 to the lawG3551. 14But when PaulG3972 wasG1510 about to openG455 his mouthG4750, GallioG1058 saidG3004 unto the JewsG2453, If indeedG3303 it wereG1510 a matterG3056 of wrong or of wickedG4190 villany, O ye JewsG2453, reason would that I should bearG430 with you: 15but if they areG1510 questionsG2213 about wordsG3056 and namesG3686 and your own lawG3551, look to it yourselves; I amG1510 not minded to beG1510 a judgeG2923 of these mattersG3056. 16And he drove them from the judgment-seat. 17And they all laid holdG1949 on SosthenesG4988, the ruler of the synagogueG752, and beatG5180 him before the judgment-seat. And GallioG1058 cared for noneG3762 of these thingsG3778.
18And PaulG3972, having tarried after this yet manyG2425 daysG2250, took his leaveG657 of the brethren, and sailedG1602 thence for SyriaG4947, and with him PriscillaG4252 and AquilaG207: having shorn his headG2776 in Cenchreæ; for he had a vowG2171. 19And they cameG1525 to EphesusG2181, and he leftG2641 them there: but he himself enteredG1525 into the synagogueG4864, and reasonedG1256 with the JewsG2453. 20And when they askedG2065 him to abideG3306 a longer timeG5550, he consented not; 21but taking his leaveG657 of them, and sayingG3004, I will returnG344 againG3825 unto you if GodG2316 will, he setG321 sailG321 from EphesusG2181.
22And when he had landed at Cæsarea, he wentG305 up and saluted the churchG1577, and wentG305 downG2597 to AntiochG490. 23And having spent some timeG5550 there, he departedG1831, and wentG1831 through the regionG5561 of Galatia, and PhrygiaG5435, in order, establishing all the disciplesG3101.
24NowG1161 a certainG5100 JewG2453 namedG3686 ApollosG625, an Alexandrian by raceG1085, an eloquent manG435, cameG2658 to EphesusG2181; and he wasG1510 mightyG1415 in the scripturesG1124. 25This manG3778 had beenG1510 instructed in the wayG3598 of the LordG2962; and beingG1510 ferventG2204 in spiritG4151, he spake and taughtG1321 accurately the thingsG3778 concerningG4012 JesusG2424, knowingG1987 onlyG3440 the baptismG908 of JohnG2491: 26and he beganG757 to speakG3955 boldlyG3955 in the synagogueG4864. But when PriscillaG4252 and AquilaG207 heardG191 him, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the wayG3598 of GodG2316 more accurately. 27And when he was minded to passG1330 over into AchaiaG882, the brethren encouraged him, and wroteG1125 to the disciplesG3101 to receive him: and when he was comeG3854, he helped them muchG4183 that had believedG4100 through graceG5485; 28for he powerfully confuted the JewsG2453, and that publiclyG1219, showingG1925 by the scripturesG1124 that JesusG2424 wasG1510 the ChristG5547.
